Transform Races - Your Thoughts?

Someone told me there were new Transform Races out so I tried a couple this morning...

The Inferno Race was quite good fun, mainly due to the weather effects and things setting ablaze as you drive towards them.

A great example of what R* can do with races that is not available to users (as mentioned by @GenericGTAO earlier in the thread). The race layout was not great but the introduction of weather cycles not available to the user and in game objects setting themselves ablaze as you approach them really added to the atmosphere of the race.

 

I am not holding my breathe on being able to set things on fire but the 'green thunderstorm' weather option may well be something we get to use ourselves in the future, I do hope so.

Added the two vehicles for the new transform race:

 

Supers: Truffade Nero Custom, Grotti X80 Proto and Dewbauchee Vagner.
Sports: Annis Elegy RH8, Benefactor Schafter V12 and Lampadati Tropos Rallye.
Muscle: Vapid Pißwasser Dominator.
Bikes: Nagasaki Shotaro, Pegassi Bati 801, Western Motorcycle Company Gargoyle and sh*tzu Hakuchou Drag.
Compact: Grotti Brioso R/A.
Off-road: Nagasaki BF400.
Specials: Nagasaki Blazer Aqua, Imponte Ruiner 2000 and Coil Rocket Voltic.
Transform: Ocelot XA-21, Vapid FMJ, Pegassi Zentorno, Pegassi Faggio Sport, Dinka Akuma, Pegassi Vortex, Manchez, Pegassi Oppressor, Vapid Trophy Truck, Vigilante, Nagasaki Havok, Nagasaki Ultralight, V-65 Molotok and Western Company Seabreeze (no buyable yet).

Inferno is hands down the sickest transform race Rockstar has created. The atmosphere is cool to the point of being distracting: the stormy green sky with the lightning bolts, trees bursting into flame as you glide over them.

 

The weather effects on the Blazer Aqua section are intense. Those are the biggest and most frequent waves i've ever seen. There's the obligatory supercar in a tube stuff, but there's also a street section through Paleto Bay in the Vigilante, with actual 90 degree turns and everything.

 

The beast is a little frustrating to control, for me anyway. I guess its a cool gimmick though. It fits with the theme. Even if you don't enjoy these races, this one is worth trying at least once just to get a look at it.

its a cool race but it isint my favorite transform race. i do like the atmosphere. but i dont like the ultralights. they are too slow for me. and i hated the blazer aqua part. i was in first and was doing great. until one of the waves screwed me up. its a fun race but its not the best.

Btw, the big jump with the beast, can u do that normally in beast mode too?

i mentioned in the bitch & moan thread it's getting almost not worth playing because there are some players cheating at these races by crashing into you (i haven't had it happen to me yet) but i have seen on the kill feed listing other players who've been killed.

Non-Contact is the solution

 

And then you have players leaving when they see that it's turned to non-contact. How are they gonna catch up and ram you then?

 

Ahaha. I always wait until the last second to enable non contact or take off the training wheels.

Yes it is.
I was really surprised by playing Inferno Race today. Finally something new and exciting from R*.
Burning houses and trees, thunderstorm, huge waves, horror music, Halloween weather and finally a Beast Race!...

Rockstar had better not remove 'Inferno' from the Transform Race selection after Halloween passes. Or substitute it for a 'weatherless / non-spooky' version.

I was really surprised by playing Inferno Race today. Finally something new and exciting from R*.

It seems pretty cool from what I've seen so far. This might be a good back to get back into GTA:O. Definitely one of the best Race modes in a while.

Once you enable auto-invite, you can't change the mode anymore. Stupid Cockstar.

Late to the party, finally got around to trying these. Definitely jump in on it if you're hesitating. Some of the most thrilling racing I've ever experienced outside of my normal routine of toilet bowl GBA Mario kart which after many a play I've mastered. It's not the best racing game I've played in my life, don't think I'm going that far now, but it's a lot of fun if and only if you have a decent racers who aren't just bumping cowards... Who bumps like this damn videogame is their whole existence... WHO ARE THOSE PEOPLE? Anyway, just floored by the hot wheels course scope of the races. Transforming is what truly balances it in my mind. Allows you a chance to hopefully close the gap if you're skilled at a vehicle more than others are. Like this one race, I'm guessing the dudes out in front have never used the oppressor much and when hey got them they went crashing off all over the place since they apparently had no idea what to do with them, bye bye then fellas... So that's the cool part, if you're good at super cars, you'll do well there, if you're good at flying you'll do better there and unlike stunt or special races where it's just a mad dash to get to first place and stay there, this offers everybody something of a fair shot at winning, it's a step in the right direction if nothing else.

 

What can they improve this with. just wild theory... I'd like the option to like maybe step out of my car jump on a turret and shoot at the people out front if you end up some how stuck waaaaay too far in last place to have a chance of winning. If it's a situation where the guy in first is just coasting to the finish line, I'd love a chance to take that free ride away from him. Other than that, weapons would be nice, not over powered stuff just something to maybe help close the gap on a guy in first who is racing with nothing to challenge him. They don't get it with these races. All they end up being is a roll of the dice. If you get that nice head start from being first in line on the start up, and you just gun it, you prettymuch own the race unfairly... Imagine if there was a way to take that advantage away... Still, very impressive races. Took me waaaay back to old star wars pod racer I used to play, bits of Crash team racing, of course mario kart, spyro, and diddy kong racing, f zero. It's like a perfect marriage of all the old school racers in one game. Not too bad at all.

They can't.

Yes it's possible, but there's freemode events and gang attacks and source missions and VIP events/challenges. Too many scripted missions that might not go well with the special weather.

But that weather doesn't affect any of those things you mentioned... If they can add snow or rain for specific missions (ufo for example) they can flip a switch for this as well.

 

and even if what you are saying is true - they still could easily create a version of this that doesn't affect anything.

 

 

And btw this "green filter" is just a glitch/side effect of messing with weather settings. I remember doing it SP. Its not rly that "special" when you think about it. They just tweaked it a bit:

Avd.mode weather + fog + blackout from heists + drunk and hostile npcs + broken cars on streets = a decent addition to FR for Halloween with minimal amount of work.

There should be a reddit type vote system for user created races. That works in game, not go to social club, no going to youtube, follow this dude, etc... the social club/invite system...is akin to running across an interstate in rush hour. You might make it, but your are gonna get plowed 90% of the time. There is the R* verified, but they verify so few. Thats honestly, probably the best way to weed them out. I mean its not really that big of a deal to me. I am all for expressing your opinion just felt it was such a bashing fest on the races. Alot of lurkers will read and never even try them out.

I'm glad you asked that question. I never thought of that, and i've been trying to shave down my time on Inferno. I would have assumed the answer is no, until I noticed the price is $200k. Thats a hell of a lot to charge for a cosmetic upgrade.

 

I was hopeful, so I just bought it and did 2 runs on Inferno. The ultralight section is pretty straightforward, and my time never varies by much more than a half second. The extended prop had zero effect on my time. So it doesn't affect top speed.

 

I took it out of my hangar in freeroam and it might have taken off slightly faster. Or it might have been my imagination. So maybe it affects acceleration a little bit or maybe it does nothing. But for current racing purposes, its not worth buying.

 

Edit: I checked out the acceleration of the ultralight a bit more, taxiing the length of the runway at Zancudo with a stopwatch. Not the most scientific test, but for what its worth, there was basically no difference in my times with the carbon prop and with the extended prop.

Inferno is a really good race.

I don't think any of the R* verified stunt races is any good, a couple of them is okay at best but that is my opinion of course and I like the "street races" with stunt props etc the best, no jumps, loops, tubes, etc.

Sometimes when I'm bored I go to social club to see if I can find some new races and usually 7/8 out of 10 is good races so I don't think it's difficult to find good races there, I might just be lucky tho. I always try to find races without tubes, jumps, etc but sometimes some of them have it and those races are usually sh*t.. I said earlier that it's not difficult to find good races but it might depend on what kind of races one is looking for, maybe I find it easier because I look for the stunt races without jumps, tubes and stuff

People always want to use Supers, Sports and Motorcycles. It's always hard to get variety with randoms.

Yeah, 7 out of 10 are good. You have to be joking. If infuriating wall rides, glitchy bumps, floating through the air for 15 mins to the next check points, or any of other various gimicks children seem to love are your thing, spin that wheel. I have shotguned the wheel and burned it, then buried it, started a garbage business and used a mile radius of the wheel as a garbage dump.

 

I personally thought my user created races was awesome. It called lowrider race. Where its locked to muscles, where the check points are in alleys, and there are concrete barriers you must use your hyrdaloics to boost over. No matter what, I put in the descriptions people always choose their dukes, dominators, etc.... easy win for me. The donks kindve ruined it though cause it basically and off road vehicle. I am part of the problem, lol.
