Why can we still not buy the Railgun?

Explosive ammo was bad, the railgun would be worse. It has no use at all except being a griefer tool.

I think it would work the other way around. The explosive sniper had pretty much cleared the skies of jet griefers.

At this point I have no idea. We might get it before RDR 2 is out.

I see jets everywhere. I've been owning the skies with jets these days.

Lol at everyone saying its more OP than explosive sniper rounds. -snipped- simple, lower the damage.

Meh, then they can lower the damage before it's added. Trying to get stuff added on the condition that certain things are buffed or nerfed - bleh, you've got no guarantee the necessary adjustments will be made.

Without any changes, this would be a one hit kill against something like a Buzzard or Titan, right? As far as I know, it has the power of a normal explosion; not the weaker Valkyrie/explosive sniper rounds?

Even nerfed, do people really need more long range, hit-scan explosive rounds? We can already carry 40 with the sniper. Would this bring us to 50? 60?

I think stuff like that vehicle has enough to deal with, without throwing this on top.

I am sure it will be added in a future update. Easy way to add a weapon that costs $2mil.

Isn't the Railgun considerably more powerful than the explosive sniper? I think, anyway?

The sniper's like a Valkyrie's explosions - so a Savage needs about 3/4 to destroy. Still a small amount (too small really), but better than what you'd get with a Railgun. As far as I know, that's a more powerful explosive and would destroy it in one or two hits.

If I'm wrong, then maybe I'd be okay with it. Even then ... That's even more explosive ammo for people. It's already awkward enough draining people's snipers.

Just my vibe though, and it's not like I have the final say. I just think there's enough to fight aircraft with - not to mention this could have bad effects on ground vehicles.

The SP version is, but the Online version is I think is on par with with the explosive ammo , they cut the Rail Guns nuts off when they brought it to Online.

The railgun destroys any regular vehicle with 1 shot. Be it buzzards, hydras, cars.. etc.

Correct, but its still not as OP as it is in SP, the splash damage has been decreased and you have to be on point with your aiming , a lot like the explosive ammo. You can one shot blow up many normal vehicles with the explosive ammo.

It has not anymore, there are I think even more jet griefers now using not only the Hydra but all the new aircraft to grief

A Buzzard can survive around 3 hits, Savage is 3/4 - Hunter is said to be up to 7 before it explodes. So you can see why people like me aren't keen on the railgun lol, since that'd probably be just one hit. Maybe two if we were lucky.

It being a single shot weapon too - wouldn't that mean you don't lose ammo when you die? (Unlike the sniper?)

I'm not arguing that it wasn't nerfed or wouldn't be nerfed anyway, just saying why I don't think it'd be a good idea.

Is it really worth pandering to people who still aren't satisfied with an explosive sniper anyway? No matter what was added they'd still be complaining about helicopters and the like. Just seems like a waste, especially when there's people who actually appreciate stuff they're given. Like that Savage buff.

Urgh, that puts a sh*tty taste in my mouth. I hope it isn't added anyway.

I mean, an auto-aim explosive sniper, with the power of an RPG or so, that doesn't lose ammo upon death? I think you're right though, sounds like the kind of logic that's been used previously.

Oh well, I guess it's not here yet anyway.

Dont mistake my post, I am not keen on it being released either to use in freemode , I am in the air probably as much as you are yo.

I'm doubtful that they will add the railgun to online and if they do it will cost a lot more than $2,000,000. It will cost you more money to buy the Hunter compared to the Hydra.

Meanwhile the explosive sniper costs quite a bit more than only $2,000,000.

Can't get one unless you first buy the cheapest bunker for $1,165,000.

Buy the cheaper truck for the moc for minimum $1,225,000.

Buy the weapon workshop for $245,000

Also don't forget the $165,375 you need to spend to upgrade heavy sniper to mk2.

Than begin the random chance research that costs $225,000 each time to fast track or wait hours for a single item to research or pay more money to get upgrades to research faster.

You have to spend $2,800,375 before you can even start research or upgrades to speed research up. The explosive sniper magazine could be the final research project left and you could spend a lot of time/money to get it.

I reckon we'll get it in the last update/dlc before they leave this version of GTAO alone for good. They'll probably add everything we've wanted and then let us get on with it.

All that... Just to remain competitive while playing the thing I actually want... I/E.

A f*cking joke, one that looks more and more farcical the longer I'm away playing other games.

Asking the question of why the Railgun isn't in online answers itself.

Im sorry, but im not gonna enjoy being 1 tapped with no counter play every time i get on.

The explosive sniper does the exact same thing. One shot for people and regular cars.

After they added the explosive sniper, I see no logical reason to not add the railgun.

Agreed, there's already enough things that can one-shot kill players, near and far... Another OP weapon really ain't breaking an already broken thing...

I thought all that was obvious. I meant add the railgun to the MOC and make it cost $2 mil.

Maybe it's just a matter of time.

With a "doomsday DLC" or "Gunrunning, Bareback Edition".

Would cost a LOT tho, and have extremely limited ammo capacity and highly expensive too.

They could even gasp shock horror wtf level lock it.

Financially, not in their interests...

I'd love the game to return to players making progression naturally and achieving things man... My way to play, but this is GTA... Different beast.

Not only will they seek to score as much cash as possible from the actual Railgun. But, as shown above by Xiled, they'll look to lock it behind monetary means... Not rank...

Standard practice now.

I was lucky enough to have a mouthbreather in a Hydra come after me on the supply mission with the railgun, and tbf the thing takes about as long to reload and aim as it takes to turn the jet around for another run if you miss. I'd say that's balanced.

Everyone says it has a long reload time, but it really doesn't. It takes about the same time to reload as the homing launcher or RPG, yet is so much more powerful than them. It's not long at all.

Considering you can reload an MG in half a second with one hand, reloading the railgun takes ages. :p

An MG can't one shot any vehicle in the game.

If they add the railgun online, it needs to have a much slower reload. It's too fast to be balanced.

Don't forget about the Sweeper Shotgun, Fully Reload a 10 round fixed drum by sticking one shell into it

Can you do the fast reload trick on the railgun (switch to and from a melee weapon)?

Yes.

Exactly. It also does not have a huge range atleast no as long as the explosive sniper.

Its also kinda hard to hit smaller targets at longer ranges since the provided optic is a bit inaccurate. Sure one could argue that you could fire it without scoping in or in third person but this makes it even more inaccurate imo.

@Irish Hunter.

Well the reload of the explosive sniper is about as long as the railgun reload and that thing has a 4 bullet mag compared to the 1bullet in the railgun.

Or the Police Interceptor as a civilian vehicle, seeing as its got all the modifications.

It's also like, 5 times weaker. I'd much rather fight someone with the sniper than the railgun.
