If You Could Change GTA's Story, Which Game And What Would You Change

I would certainly not change anything about GTA SA story, which is absolutely amazing the way it is presented. Its the most cohesive, and incredibly entertaining story. The only thing I'd like to (and also a popular opinion) change is to drop Ryder as a character who betrays CJ, and make him part of CJ's epic journey in helping him out to free Sweet. It'd certainly make a fun partnership.

 

HD era stories are anyways least interesting for me. Its the gameplay part of the HD games that upsets me the most that I'd want to change.

 

In 3D era, I'd certainly change Vice City's ending. Tommy offering counterfeit cash to Sonny is just laughable to say the least. Sonny isn't stupid. I don't know whose bright idea it was about adding "counterfeit cash" part to the ending.

Vice City: As much as I love the story it really does become pointless after Tommy kills Diaz. Atleast 90% or a large chunk of the story is over in less than a few hours. I'd add a lot more layers to Diaz with regards to his empire. The acquired assets just feel like padding to me for the final confrontation with Sonny.

 

San Andreas: Wouldn't change anything about the initial Los Santos strand, but the spy for hire crap to be removed entirely. I'd also add in an attempt for CJ to break Sweet out of prison himself.

 

GTA V: Take out the FIB lapdog angle, make Johnny Trevor's antagonist and more emphasis on the student/mentor relationship between Michael and Franklin.

Vice City: As much as I love its theme, as Assassin said, I also think most of the game's story is useless from the point you kill Diaz. No development involving Lance and Sonny happen, other than one or two missions and the eventual phone calls Sonny makes to Tommy. Would be cool if we had to build our empire from ground-up without killing Diaz, so both cartels become pretty much rivals, so Tommy discovers Diaz's betrail later in the story and takes over his cartel more towards the end of the game.

 

San Andreas: After The Green Sabre, the story was all over the place. Would be cool to make the GSF more relevant in this part of the story. As Shaegar said, Ryder shouldn't be the one to betray CJ, so maybe if Ryder did what Cesar did, go to the countryside to help CJ and stay close to help him. At least we would've gotten lots of funny dialogues from Ryder.

 

GTA IV: Somehow make Phil Bell less useless. He does nothing on the story other than ask us to steal drugs for him, so maybe if he got introduced much earlier. Likewise, I think Pegorino should've gotten more screen time, he simply becomes an antagonist in 4 missions. A bit more character development would be welcome there.

 

GTA V: Yeah yeah, 3 protagonists, little character development, make it one protagonist, solved. But to keep the trio, I think more missions would be very welcome. the game has 69 missions, but buying masks counts as a mission, in contrast to GTA IV's healthy 88. Also, those 60-something missions are to develop 3 characters at once, while IV's were onlt for Niko, so more main missions where the characters are on their own would be very welcome. Also, do what Assassin said and make Johnny an antagonist. We could still kill him, but he'd go down with a fight.

 

Also in V, a storymode DLC would be extremelly welcome, maybe splitting it into 3 stories, each to develop each protagonist more, BUT we all know this is not going to happen, at least any time soon.

Remove the three protagonist system from GTA V.

 

Make it two or only one. The three protagonist system has its advantages. I like the variety. But it caused the story to be a jumbled mess. There was no true focus of the story, no time to flesh out the characters, and an extremely weak ending. Micheal's story is clearly the most thought out of any of the characters. A lot of the story revolves around him. I would make the story either solely around Michael, or focus it on the failed "father/son" idea that they tried to implement. The story should be about Michael getting back in the game, and tying up loose ends, with the most dangerous loose end being Trevor. Trevor should be the antagonist. He causes Michael numerous problems, and if Michael wants to truly bury the hatchet, then why not bury it into the skull of the man who was meant to die to begin with? We're told all throughout the story how dangerous Trevor is, and how he shouldn't be trusted, but in the end, they just apologize and we're meant to believe it's happily ever after. I call bullcrap on that. Trevor should be the antagonist, with Michael struggling to bury his past. If it's a two protagonist system, then make Franklin's rag-to-riches story more emphasized, with Michael being his helping hand.

In GTA V

 

More interaction between Michael and Franklin like after marriage counseling instead of a text advising franklin to go to a shooting range why not have a mission where you have to compete against michael at ammunation and make a father and son moment, there should be a mission where the two get togheter and hang out to introduce this mechanic and to develop the characters in a more relaxed environment furthering their relationship and contrasting really well with the aftermath of the next plot point

 

 

Add a love story between Tracy and Franklin since Franklin is romantically anept for most of the story ,wich is a missed opportunity, to fix this Tanisha should be introduced early on to explain their relationship more coherently and then Franklin ,after meeting the rest of Michaels family, hooks up with Tracy sometime between Daddy's Little Girl and Mr Philips acting as a shoulder to cry on developing both Franklin and Tracy ,with Franklin becoming a voice of reason in her life and in their relationship with Tracy trying to rush Franklin into "secksual intercourses" and Franklin being a gentleman knowing that she is after all his best friend's daugther making Tracy mature as a result, after finding out,Michael ceases their friendship and forbids Tracy from ever seeing Franklin again this would contrast really well with the before mentioned father son dynamic and would create tension between the two.

 

Johnny Klebitz shouldn't have been killed so fast for cheap shock value he should ,instead, be the main antagonist who could have teamed up with Madrazo after Caida Libre ,basically replace the Chinese with the Lost in the sandy shores missions in Mr Phillips ,Trevor ,Ron and Wade are walking towards the trailer of the Azteca guy whose name I don't remember Trevor kicks his door down drags him out of his trailer and stomps him like he "would've" stomped Johnny, then the shootout from stab city is replaced with some other location,after finishing the mission Ron calls him and tells him about a big deal with the Lost MC and to go and meet them at the Yellow Jack Inn, there Trevor meets Johnny ,Terry and Clay they go to Trevor's meth lab then and meet chef obviously you can Imagine how good the dialogue between healthy Johnny, Trevor ,Terry and Clay would be towards the meth lab and Johnny,overhearing the warning from Chef on the phone about the aztecas decides to begrudgingly help trevor despite Johnny aiming to conduct business peacefully,in Nervous Ron Instead of The Lost owning the airstrip, It's the Aztecas, nothing else really, Trevor and Johnny along with Terry and Clay meet again at the Yellow jack Inn where they inform Trevor that they willno longer do business with him due to his unpredictable personality and they will partner with the O'Neils, Trevor and Johnny then fight(since you know what he did with that druggy chinese dude won't really fly with Klebitz)they tire each other out and decide to part ways ,admiting the fight was fun, but after the three ride off he goes to the O'Neil house and burns it down, Friends Reunited Remains Unchanged but Terry and Clay are killed in the attack,wich upsets Johnny especially since he doesn't know where Trevor went.

2.she is kinda hot

3.it would create tension between him and michael kinda like in scarface between tony and manny ,only this time "manny" aka franklin doesn't die

4. because of this Franklin will be able to reunite Michael's family together instead of jimmy being like "ok now I like you again,dad"

5.she will be far less annoying because as I said Franklin becomes a voice of reason in her life and because of this he is able to influence michael's family to reunite and making michael finally accept their relationship and becoming his friend again.

 

also DATING IS BACK,HOW COOL IS THAT MAN!?!!!?!?!!!?????!!

so until the mission where michael reunites with his family he doesn't speak to Franklin and only interacts with him in government given missions since they are forced to work together and even then they are headbutting each other with trevor trying to break it off since they might die because of them, later deciding to keep personal vendettas away from their professional work.


not to brag but this is x times better then the incoherent mess the game actually has.

GTA 4:

 

Make Ray Bulgarin the main antagonist. He was the one of the reasons why Niko came to LC. Niko should be the one who killed him, Dimitri can be still involved, he can help Bulgarin like he did. Faustin shouldn't die in the GAME at all. Niko could do missions for the petrovic family? Then there could be a mission where there is a choice of whether to kill Faustin or Petrovic? If you spare Faustin, then he can help you in other missions like helping Niko to kill Dimitri and Bulgarin. Also, making sure Phil Bell involved is a good idea, as he is quite a good and loyal character, can maybe betray Pegorino in favor of Niko, and Pegorino can leak information about Niko to Bulgarin and Niko kills, Pegorino, Bulgarin and Dimitri in the final mission

GTA3: Get rid of the Yardies missions, they're unfunny, boring and make you become enemies with the Diablos. Also I would spare Asuka and make a short arc of the Yakuzas finding out about Claude killing Kenji, and they blackmail him to kill Donald Love.

 

GTA4: Alter the outcome of the Blood Brothers mission. I found it a bit stupid, personally I would make it so Niko calls both Packie and Gerry about this, they arrive at the place and a fight between Derrick and Francis breaks out which leads to Derrick dying. Francis puts the blame on Gerry, which gets him into prison, Packie in turn, disgusted by what happened, cuts ties with Francis and doesn't consider him his brother at all.

Grand Theft Auto V

You'd meet Franklin long before you actually got to play as him, and grow attached to him as a really likeable side character - but then, in the last part of the game, when you do play as him, the player sees that he's an out and out villain looking to kill Michael and enrich himself.

The multiple endings aren't necessarily the worst part of the game, it's that a hardened criminal like Franklin is suddenly a shrinking violet who doesn't want to hurt anyone. Wouldn't it be far scarier if we think he's this funny, happy guy, but when we play as him we see him revealed as more like a Marlo Stanfield, a completely soulless monster only out for himself?

 

By that same logic, you'd have to get rid of Trevor, or change him to the point where he came across as a believable criminal and not a 14 year old boy who's just discovered porn.

Just one small change: I would've made GTA V have a single protagonist. Not that I hated the idea of having three, I feel like that feature, and the accompanying story aspects needed a lot more time to be polished.

  • GTA III: I would increase the time Claude spends working for the Leones. I can't think of anything else.
  • GTA VC: The only part that would be good to get rid of is that "fake cash" thing in the last mission. Tommy could've just given it straight to Sonny that he's planning to kill him just right there.
  • GTA SA: I'd keep Ryder as the loyal homie, and maybe making him get to rehab and then be released of it during LV's chapter and have a similar role to Cesar's in SF. I would also increase the role of CJ's mother's death, so he and Sweet might have more conversations about it, because they don't even mention that when they know about Smoke's alliance with C.R.A.S.H. and their planned Green Sabre trap. Spreading Kane's role would be cool too, since he's a well known Balla OG (and mostly the leader of the Front Yard Ballas). Lastly, I'd change Toreno's missions, making them less 'over-the-top' and a little more realistic, less airplane missions as well.
  • GTA LCS: Maybe giving Toni an actual story, rather than having him being Salvatore's hand, without a personal story, beside those few missions of his mother.
  • GTA VCS: Can't think of anything here.
  • GTA IV: I would set the main antagonist as Ray Bulgarin rather than Dimitri Rascalov; Niko had two reasons for coming to Liberty City: Finding Darko and escaping from Bulgarin. It could've been better if he moved on and took his revenge from Bulgarin, for the times he screwed him over and made Dimitri turn on him. Not to mention that Niko knows Bulgarin since a long time, which cannot be said about Rascalov. Also, I'd give Niko the choice to either kill Boccino or Bell during 'Pest Control'. I would also turn Pegorino into an antagonist in an earlier point, instead of having him as an antagonist for the last few missions of the storyline. Lastly, beside the need of replacing Dimitri with Bulgarin in both of the endings, I'd turn the revenge ending to a happy ending, so Niko plans to kill Bulgarin rather than setting a deal with him, but he first gets rid of Pegorino to make sure he won't try to whack him for that, then he moves to kill Bulgarin aboard the Platypus. Lastly, after smoking Bulgarin off, Roman's wedding cutscene would play, but this time Kate doesn't die, nor Roman as well. That would be a happy ending before the game's credits show.
  • GTA V: More character development for every single character. Maybe making Michael the only protagonist, and turning Trevor to the main antagonist. Franklin would either not exist or be just a criminal associate. Maybe dropping everything between Trevor and Ashley, keeping Johnny as a friend of Trevor, so relationship between them slowly upgrades, turning Johnny to a close friend of Trevor, an antagonist of the game as well (maybe the secondary or tertiary), with more of a satisfying death which happens during a huge battle, rather than that crap death.

I would simply rename the "Sindacco Sabotage" mission in LCS to "Diablo Dash" because your enemies are the Diablos in that mission.

1)Add planes, Vehicle Customization, parachutes, better Cars, diverse mission design and invincibility cheat to GTA 4.

2)more intense finale to GTA 5. More FRANKLIN ONLY and TREVOR-FRANKLIN missions in GTA 5.

3)better end for Ryder in GTA SA. 

4)Make claude say one word at the end of GTA 3.

5)Have a bigger map in VC.

6)Remove Shark cards

7)Make Trevor visit LC at 2008 so the bikers would go extinct sooner

Give some more time to Cesar with missions revolving around his gang and GSF

I loved Pulaski's character and so would like to make his presence felt more in the game, alongside Tenpenny.

I used to hold same felling about Ryder initially, but the more I looked into the detailed analysis of his character and the changes introduced by Rockstar later, I couldn't bieve just how wrong I was in understanding him (blame R*, not me though). Seriously, Rockstar have done a serious injustice to his character by turning him into something that he wasn't originally meant to be, and I would like to change and restore the original vision for his character for the topic.

GTAIII: Find the truth behind the rigged car by confronting 8Ball after Salvatore's assassination. Cutting all loose ends by finding Luigi and Joey. Move Miguel and Asuka to a different place so they can live longer to wipe out the Colombian Cartel.

 

GTA Vice City: Turn Lance into a double snitch by trapping Sonny in Vercetti's mansion and then attempt murder on Tommy directly afterwards.

 

GTA San Andreas: Corner Ryder to question him.

 

GTA LCS: Unify Leone and Kasen.

 

GTA Advanced: Finish Vinnie up by actually blowing him up inside his car.

 

GTA V:  Trevor and Michael turns into on-call criminals and Michael dropped his family by the end of the story. Franklin becomes a low profile businessman and on-call criminal like the other two. Franklin is the only way for Jimmy to safely monitor Michael. Trevor buries the hatchet and gives Michael a second chance. Three of them doesn't always go on heist or becoming hitmen, but also take smaller tasks like personal security guards for high profile clients prone to assassinations.
