Do anyone think online might get loot boxes?

How about game makers stick to making games ffs. No wonder the price of Commodore C64's is through the roof

If it does GTA is dead to me. Not playing a game who has a clone of the sh*tty cryptocock system from Black Ops III.

* Looks into new term 'loot boxes'... (Having never heard of this pap).

* Realizes/agrees that this is basically the setup of the Bunker from that DLC, most likely the helicopter/airplane one too (as I ain't looked yet)... Pay or wait for randomly assigned item...

Well... sh*t!.

Prior to realizing this nonsense, I was gonna say 'no thanks' but that I expect if this is a new hot thing to do with games these days, and if it's profitable for R*/T2, and easy enough to implement... Expect it, now or in future...

But, alas, we're already there.

Never mind.

It's not really the same thing, because you don't pay directly for those unlocks with the bunker. Additionally, once you reach the point of paying GTA$ for an unlock (assuming you paid for a shark card to afford it), you already know what you're about to unlock - even if you don't know what comes afterward. And those unlocks are a finite set as well, so there's no chance you'll get duplicates that are just wastes of your money for something you already had access to.

So randomness alone, even randomness combined with microtransactions, is not the whole idea here. It's really that you're buying a box - or a key to unlock a box, as many games handle this - and the contents are purely random, and you may (and in fact will) get junk you've already got a large percentage of the time.

But would I put it past Rockstar and Take Two to do this? Absolutely not. It's making big bank for other publishers already.

Yeah, I read a few more comments since, was still reading page one when responded... I can see the differences you and others mentioned, finite and all that... At the same token, it does feel similar in a way... But I have little experience with these methods in games... I feel this bunker/research system is their way of doing something like this loot box thing... Being fair though, wouldn't surprise me if it came as blatant as it is elsewhere too though... Cash is cash after all...

Not uncommon it seems... GT sport looks like ya gotta drive X miles per day, in an online only game, to get free cars... Win or lose, get rewarded it seems...

Might be more to it, not fully out yet, but honestly, on the surface of it all... Win or lose, seems like there's no difference.

Ain't gaming to me, that's just aimlessly playing... But it sells... Bah, I'm old. (In gaming terms, not over the hill by a long way yet, lol).

Shhsh .. !! Don't give 'em any more bad ideas!

They got experts in that department... Don't need us.

I'm playing GT sport demo (and played the beta) it's super easy to unlock cars. I already have enough nice cars to enjoy the game just by playing the demo for a few hours. It's just the same as the previous Grand Turismo's as far as easy unlocks go. The will probably put in a few ridiculously expensive cars for the mad men that want to pay? but you wont need them to race. GT Sport is about racing other people, that's where the memories come and not many people ram you unlike in GTA

Yeah, a better way to frame it would be imagine if a highly anticipated vehicle from an update, say the Hdyra, or Hunter, or Vigilante, etc. Could only be acquired by lootboxes, items that you acquire relatively easily, and then have to pay real money to get keys to open them, except imagine there was only a one in fifty (or worse) chance that you get the item you want, and instead of getting that Vigilante, or Hunter, you got a Picador, or some pistol ammo. So you buy another key, open another lootbox, and this time you get a sabre turbo custom, which seems nice, even if it isn't what you wanted, but it makes you realize you can still get nice things, and have a chance at what you want, so you keep buying keys, but not getting what you want, this causes people with addictive personalities to spend far more than they would have normally spent had the vehicle been released like it normally would have. And because these keys tend to cost very little they oftentimes don't realize how much they've spent until it's too late.

Loot boxes could be a workaround to opening the casino. Walk in, pay some GTA bucks for some crates with the slight chance of opening one with the keys to the vigilante.

Jesus christ.

Yeah, saw it was so easy to get cars... At least with seasonal events, you had do win/beat the time/score points... Now, just drive...

At least no microtransactions though, shame the demo players and those buying special editions are gonna have a big head start making it more difficult for us mere mortals... Always like to lose the first few anyway... Build's up my underdog character, lol... (Not knocking you for playing the demo, the fault is the developer's alone. Not the players for taking up a fully valid option - Just, well, there's a... I'm being facetious... Not in my sincerity towards you mind).

But I digress... Lots of Vision cars... No skyline!... f*ckers...

Quite looking forward to playing GT despite my reservations, funny how R*'s latest DLC comes the same day... Worried much R*?... Don't be...

I was always gonna play GT sport upon release... Lol.

I agree with DemonicSpaceman here very much... Though I'd personally prefer not to see these loot boxes added as I feel the research stuff is more than enough in a similar kind of capacity... But if it does come, this must be purely cosmetic/collectables rather than stuff that can give clear and potential unfair advantages.

Would much prefer the old gen special crate drops, often mentioned, highly missed, all those free mode things I believe would be welcomed back.

Are you implying we don't have them right now? Hello? Gunrunning update, anyone?

You can't control what upgrades you get, remember? Just like using some kind of currency, not for content you want, but for a CHANCE of getting what you want. It's the same damn principle, it's there and you can expect them in RDR2 anytime soon. But of course, they'd probably play it as a parody or something. It was the main complain from Gunrunning, the stupid paywall or slot machine for a chance to get the explosive sniper first.

There is no salvation. No matter how much we pirate, rate negative and complain, the real solution is just treating Rockstar's games as dead. They don't exist: we don't talk about them, we don't play them and we just keep quiet. We can't even trust reviews anymore, as if it wasn't enough with having a full priced game being treated as a F2P.

F*cking SJW pandering should be doing something right for once and start treating loot boxes for what they actually are: gambling.

I start to feel like those parents from the 90s who thought that videogames were satanic and turned kids into school shooters and whatnot. Taking advantage of the vice of gambling is probably the worst thing I've seen in the industry. Those f*cks know how addicting gambling can be, but hey? Who cares as long as they give money?

I remember a time when loot boxes fell from the sky, and you had the chance of a rare item, and then rockstar removed this from the game.

I remember those. I also remember when I simply changed characters a bunch of times and that gave me all the items from the boxes without having to collect them.

Good times.

No f*ck that. After the whole fiasco when it was leaked that the REAL ending for shadow of war is LOCKED behind such a box,.. Urgh.

the old days are in this case Indeed better. You payed for a game only one's,got a complete game and they all lasted longer then the average 5 hours to complete.

must say it was already in place before overwatch came in to play, but it made it worse still. Why that game even won GOTY award is still Beyond me. That show is becoming the oscars 2.0.

and all the run and gun battles we had to get the crate with a possibility of getting a rare shirt or beer hat??

the rarest shirt i think i ever got during my 360 days with my 1st female character was (i think) a k-rose shirt besides a blarney beer hat.

crates in gta 6? as a criminal organisation take2 will do that 100%.

shark cards will remain in gta 6 so that means you will probably buy crates with ingame money but you can buy more with shark cards.
