Extended distance scaling?

So I usually have the problem that when I try to snipe someone from far away, they can see me but I can't see them, as they won't render. Will it get better if I turn up the extended distance scaling, or does it only affect terrain? Any other ways to make it possible to render players better?

Try using thermal vision, that should help.

Yes, it works but they only appear like a square. If they're hiding behind something you can't tell when they are exposed, and it's not always I'm using the MK II.

Nah it affects everything I believe, so ensure you've got that set to the highest it can be, as long as your machine can handle it. The difference in performance from that setting being 0% compared to 100% can be as much as 20fps.

Also if I remember correctly, setting that won't give you the best results - you need to make an edit to the settings.xml file inside My Documents\ Rockstar Games. Changing the in-game "Extended Distance Scaling" option will probably set the LodScale value, but you also need to set the "PedLodBias" and "VehicleLodBias" to 1.000000 for maximum effect. This will completely eliminate pop-ins.

With that setup, everything else maxed out and MSAA being used etc, I think only the GTX 1080 (or better) can handle the game at 1080p without ever dropping below 60fps in every area of the game.

What CPU is required for this?

As long as it's not bottom-of-the-barrel it should be good to go. There's even some Intel i3s being used with max (or near to max) graphics.

Bruh, I'm showing this to my gf, this might help with her Pop-in! Weirdly enough setting the CPU priority to high fixed it for the most part, but I don't like solutions like that >_<

What difference would it make if I bought a 1080TI instead of the ordinary 1080? Is it worth spending the additional cost?

There probably isn't much difference, but then I'm not totally clued up tech-wise. A GTX 1080 is superb for GTA V/ Online, but the 1080ti may offer slightly more futureproofing.
