What things don't you want to see?

There's a thread for the features we'd like to see in the game, but perhaps is there anything you don't want in RDR2?

If we're led to believe Arthur's more ruthless than I don't see how the fame & honour system would fit the game.

Truthfully I never thought of it too highly in RDR as performing "bad deeds" felt out of character for John just asperforming good deeds will probably be for Arthur.

Oh and unskippable skinning animations. That was tedious as f*ck.

Aside from the uneven single player and multiplayer content distribution we saw in GTA V, I don't want to see a crafting system, I feel like that gimmick has been overdone lately in open world games. Let the player hunt and trade animal skins but don't make us collect 5 grizzly bear pelts to craft an upgrade for our bandolier.

I remember skipping those pretty easily though...

They can leave unicorns out of it if your ask me.

BUT THE BENZ

yeah, just had to ride on your horse, stand on top of a carcass and press triangle! skinning animation skipped!

what I don't want to see?....toned-down gunplay a la GTA V.

DO NOT change the horse controls. I'm playing through RDR again and it still amazes me how intuitive controlling the horse is.

Less cattle herding missions, at least in the main quest. It was good in the first game but this time around I want to play more as an outlaw and less as a cowboy

The honor system, i am really fearing for that here, that threat to a kid from arthur in the trailer, really set a tone for the character that i dislike, from where i stand all the characters rockstar tends to make have a human side, they are more like antiheros than ruthless villains, and from arthur i feel like is going to be the second. I was really honorable as John marston, all my inocent kills use to be accidents, people caught in the crossfire, now seeing that lost in here would not be a good choice.

Also, crouching, you know, since they did it in V and i hated the decision.

EDIT: damn i read the title wrong, still this is what i don't want to see gone from the first game.

Hope they limit the weapon wheel to either the classic GTA style of only holding one weapon per type, or Max Payne's style. In my case, I'd prefer the latter.

Gimped ragdoll physics like GTA V. This may single-handedly ruin the game for me.

I would like to see physics on par with, or better than, RDR. But I really don't get how it would ruin the game if the physics are dumbed down. Seeing people ragdoll around after you shoot them is like the 10th or 20th most important aspect of a game like this. As with GTA V, if the physics are simplified I will be mildly annoyed, and then keep right on playing.

Personally I agree with the unskippable animations thing. Give me a skip button or just do away with any animation that takes as long as the animal-skinning one did. No one wants to sit through that hundreds of times.

It's a personal factor for me, very important. Most of my time spent in games like GTA is shooting people, and the bad physics, coupled with lack of weapon recoil and lame gun sounds completely ruined that aspect for me. I can't even play the game without a ragdoll mod like ERO or RAGEuphoria. It won't be a deal breaker but I already know I won't enjoy RDR2 as much as I could if the physics are like V.

These are the things I never want to see in a Rockstar Game, EVER, and if I see them, most probably my last hope on gaming(that is Rockstar at the moment) will be lost and I will finally go full on to watch series and movies:

Any classic RPG mechanics, such as:

-> a level system in Singleplayer,

-> crafting,

->an inventory(Only the weapon wheel is enough, I don't want an useless inventory to waste time in),

-> dialouge trees(too stale and slow down gameplay)

-> too complex mechanics that need you to read a book of instructions before understanding them,

-> too iminent UI, as present in all Ubisoft games(I sweart if I see any icons outside my minimap, on my main screen, I am going to scream, literally, it takes away immersion)

I love and enjoy Rockstar Games for one simple reason: Because they are CINEMATIC, I don't want to play a game, I want to have an experience, that nods onto movies and series, that immerses me in the setting and that makes me forget that I am only playing a game for a second.

Unfortunately, everything in the modern game industry, wants to be an RPG, or at least feature RPG mechanics, I abhore that, I dislike RPGs and any and all of their main mechanics, and I don't want Rockstar to ever go down that "mainstream" path. Rockstar set a bar for being Mainstream themselves, they don't need to follow established ideals, and I bloody hope they don't.

Some time ago I saw a guy on here request that GTA should become an MMO, with level sets, crafting, abilities etc. and I quite literally had to almost puke at the general idea of it.

If gaming heads entirely in that direction, I am going back to my High-school me, and refer to gamers as lazy losers, because I really see no art in any RPG gaming systems.

Ugh,I don't want this this RPG nonsense in this game(I love RPG,i just don't think it would work in a R* game).

Craft this,Craft that,Chop wood to craft arrows and get 10 squirrel nuts to make this legendary outfit.Let's leave that to Ubi.

Also don't want the annoying unecessary riding segments, just like how you always have to ride in GTA V in certain missions.Just teleport me to the next area goddamit if there's nothing interesting to hear during that ride!

I hope they don't simplify the blood and gore, and least keep it at levels comparable to Red Dead Redemption. Going from RDR's amazing blood effects to GTAV's was a rude kick in the face

I hope the screen doesn't go black and white when you kill someone like it does on V.

Having to unlock outfits

I actually loved this feature, it gives the player ambition to do things in the open world.

I hope there's no OP weapons/horses that make every other one obsolete. (BALANCE, PLEASE!)

Also hope they didn't get rid of dead eye. I love it, probably my favorite thing about RDR. (Other than Marston's character/story and how great all of the guns sound. A million props to whoever worked on the audio.)

I hope they don't tone down the blood and gore from the 1st game as well as put more effort into online than SP.

I hope Arthur is a complete asshole. I always play as the good guy. I didn't care for Trevor in GTA V though.

On-Topic:

I don't want to see sh*tty ambient / side missions. The first Red Dead was incredible in terms of world building and character development through it's side quests. GTA V's were a gigantic disappointment in this regard.

I hope the ''three protagonists'' feature that was introduced in GTA 5 doesn't return. Some people are speculating that we might get to play with the native and the blonde woman as well, but I hope R* sticks to Arthur Morgan. It was a fun feature in V and added some refreshing gameplay, but at the end of the day I prefer one protagonist to get invested in.

If you mean the kill effect, it can be turned off. Which I did after playing with it on a lot

I don't wish to see another redemption story of a Red Dead protagonist, Arthur that is. I wish the story will be more surprising, complex and philosophical than simply Arthur turning his way to redeem his old self after the atrocities he committed with the gang. Just stay away from cliches and political correctness. Be authentic to the era and touch on taboos!

I don't think that story arc is that ''bad''.

I personally would not be against Arthur's redemption.I don't want him to just be an asshole without any other side to him, like Trevor did.

Fact of the matter is some people are just assholes without any other side to them. I also don't really want to see any "redemption" for Arthur in the conventional sense. It would be very predictable and cliche if they do that.
