"Random Acts of Kindness - Gone Wrong"

REXX

Recommended Posts

Generally, most players in GTA Online couldn't give two hoots as to what happens to other players, which is logical. You don't know them, you don't care; simple.

However, ocassionally some of us have a change of heart. Y'know what I mean! You're perched on a building four blocks away looking at your target, seconds away from pulling the trigger and then "your" target could potentially become someone elses target as they approach. So instead of eliminating them, you team up with them to protect them. You kill a few players around your "supposed" target only to realize they are all friends and you are now on the menu! Life's definately a female dog sometimes!

So as the thread title states (and of course if you have any), without posting a whole storyline or novel, what random acts of kindness have gone completely in the wrong direction for you?

As the thread OP, guess I should post one :D

Back on PS3 I saw a low rank with a $5,000 bounty, offered him my Rhino for protection. Only to be blown away by the same Rhino a few minutes later. Lovely

Look forward to seeing the communities and hopefully have a few laughs! :)

About two years ago I saw a level 8 being killed repeatedly by a high level player. I messaged the level 8 and asked if he needed help. He said he did so I drove my tank down to the docks and told him he could use it to even the score with the high level guy that killed him a bunch.

I get out of the tank and let him in and he immediately blows me up. I'm not too worried about it and I assume it must have been a mistake, nope he keeps coming after me.:facedesk: He got me three times before I blew him up. I then basically spawn killed him until he left.

Earlier tonight I was just flying around fighting cops on my Oppressor when I accidentally blew up somebody in their car, looked and saw they were only lvl 4 and felt kinda bad so I landed near them and got off the bike to let them try out something cool as an apology. I thought I was out of rockets anyway so I figured, what's the worst that can happen? I watched their icon soaring around for a minute or two, impressed they hadn't crashed yet, and headed off to Ammunation to restock. Another minute or so later and a friend I was in party chat with suddenly yells "OH WHAT THE f*ck!?"

Turns out their I/E sale had just been blown up by a rogue Oppressor which apparently had at least one rocket left to be fired...

Not gone wrong but reversed!, i launched an executive hunt, and then i farmed a guy that tried to kill me, like 8 times, then when the mission finished, he joined my company and worked for me.. hahaha, i like to think he had some respect for me, due to my performance (? anyways, we farmed a lot of crates then haha.

I often help others but i also often wonder why i bother. A recent one. A low level American player ranked 78 asked if i could help sell his product. I said i was about to sell mine but i'd hold off to help him. He said he would help me sell mine after i helped him sell his. His sell mission was 3 helicopter drops down the other end of the map. I sold 2 helicopter loads as i was faster than him. So i done the grunt of the work and also fended off 2 attackers. Then when it came time to sell my product he left. He never even said thank you. I shall have the last laugh though as i added him as a friend and will destroy his supplies next time. :pirate:

I recently switched to free-aim as I was getting tired of driving by players and getting shot out of my car. I can go full sessions without needing to shoot another player as I'm not an aggressive player so the lower amount of players in FA is a welcomed change. Anyway, just minding my own business and a kill feed pops up on screen. I notice it cause in the one hour time I've been in there no one has killed anyone yet, just died from police or other enemies. With my I/E sale done I check the map and it's some jet (hovering so it's a Hydra) taking on two dudes. The two dudes are in the same organization while the jet is in his own. Clearly a troublemaker. Feeling heroic, I call in "2017-GTA" which is my flying bike and set my explosive sniper rifle at the ready in my inventory. I fly off like the love child of Batman and Spiderman.

I arrive in Grapeseed where this is taking place. During the flight I paid $15,000 (or however it costs) from CEO to go off-radar for 3 minutes. Being sneaky and wanting to do it cleanly. I land on Chiliad with a good sight on the jet, whip out my sniper rifle out and shoot. I hit him once and he starts smoking, immediately retreating and bailing out. A tree is hiding me so I can't see him parachute to the ground. As I move around the tree my dumb character starts flailing her arms and then proceeds to slide face first down the hill. I die and of course I get a sh*tty spawn cause this is Chiliad. My jet bike is just down the hill that I keep sliding down and dying of until my timer runs out. What I didn't notice is that they've stopped killing each other and are now taking potshots with sniper rifles at my sliding ass the second that I pop up on the map.

I'm killed about 2-3 times before I hop out of CEO status and go into Passive Mode so I can text one of the guys I saved basically saying, "hey, wtf dude?" Dude replies that I killed his friend. Aaaand that's when I noticed they're all sporting the same crew tag. I'm still in white knight mode, though, so I ask why the friend was shooting at the two of them. He says they were making a movie. In a public session. And I'm the prick. Safe to assume that I didn't stick around in that lobby after getting half of it against me.

I've lost count of the times when flying around that I've seen people doing hangar missions and being chased by NPC jets or Buzzards.

So I decide to go over in my Buzzard to lend a hand, only to be blown out the sky by the very players I was going to help.

I guess you can't be too careful though... every other player is a potential enemy. Best to be safe than sorry.

I've had that happen a few times. Some of the people you try to help are so shockingly dumb its painful. Its like, can you seriously not work out that im here to help you. You just watched me kill several people who were attacking you multiple times and i never killed you once when i clearly could have.

Another recent one. I was helping a player who was selling his bunker supplies in a monster truck. I was in my hydra. I killed people that were trying to attack him so he could get away. After he got away i went and hovered over him to indicate i was there to help him. But he couldn't work it out and got out and shot me down with a homing rocket. I said to him "Why did you think i killed them multiple times and not you? I didn't even fire at you or anywhere near you. And why would i hover over you like that if i was a threat? I was helping you, ya tool!" He replied "Sorry i didn't realise. I thought you were going to attack me"

One time I helped a low level by giving my cut to them in a heist, only to have the favor repaid with lead the second we got back to freeroam.

Moral of the story: dont trust any new people you meet, because you never know if or when they will stab you in the back.

Well it's not something that this topic about, but still similar.
I had a Bunker ressuply run at the opposite side of the map and my stolen Lazer disappeared. However there was a guy on heli passing by so i asked for a lift and he actually accepted it. But turned out that he sucked and landing and crashed.
After that he said that he will give me his Weaponized Tampa and he'll go mind his own business. So i was on the freeway and then beep-beep boom. Dem trip mines. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every random act of kindness has gone wrong.

From the time I was killed by an MC president while protecting one of his prospect's Post Op vans to the time I landed my buzzard to pick up a random robbing a store. Most common is the being killed after dragging some low rank scrub through a heist.

People don't care for random acts of kindness.

I often wait even for random players in races after an accident that was at least half my fault, only to find out that I waited for a ramming prick. I will continue to do so, because I like to have clean racing battles and often enough people will return the favour by racing clean. But if someone is identified as rammer, than I'll make that guy my prey. It's hillarious how rammers start to bitch and cry once they become the victim :miranda:

Happened yesterday in fact!

I was driving my Franken Stange around, so when I parked up outside of Los Santos Customs while I was AFK, but keeping an eye on the game; I noticed 2 players kept trying to get in the vehicle. So, I figured I'd unlock the doors and let either of them drive. One of them took it for a spin, while the other proceeded to shoot at the driver. Long story short, the car caused a huge battle to ensue between the two, all the way until I got kicked out the session due to a bad connection. :(

lll-H-I-M-lll

Ive blocked players in shops and then noticed they're a newbie and let them out after a few mins a few times

If they are not i leave them there, they should know how to escape after a dozen rank ups

Either way they come after me regardless lol

I was in the middle of a drug sale when a random msgd me, "lets help each other". "Great" I thought, and told him "ok, but I have one more bike to deliver". I was delivering the first bike of two at the moment. When I made it back to the business to get the second bike, my new friend was fighting off another random. I got on the bike and went my way, thinking that I would be safe thanks to this friend. But boy I was wrong.... He just went the other way as if I was doing nothing special... A few meters from there a Opressor popped on the map, coming from the montains... needless to say that I never got to deliver that last bike (and never saw that friend again also lol). Logged off immediately afterwards and went to bed :(

clinical oppression

Oh it's bound to go wrong but in my experience kindness is appreciated by a solid 70 -80% of players .

I let a low level into the base without trying to kill them, figured they were new. They definitely were - he was making a beeline straight to me! Needless to say, he was autoaimed out of his sh*tty civilian car. The dude didn't stop coming though, but he distracted the tanks, and make the killfeed look like this:

PwnageSoldier killed LowLevelDumbass

LowLevelDumbass died.

LowLevelDumbass died.

LowLevelDumbass died.

LowLevelDumbass died.

LowLevelDumbass died.

Good laugh this fellow was.

I have the exact opposite of this story. Met a tryhard (out of all people) and he has never gotten a Hydra yet. So I said to myself f*ck it, its nicer to have less opposition. Turns out the guy was good at the game, and we finished the whole Humane Labs Raid that night. I completely gave up my cut (even though I was host, so I lost 47k) and gave him 50%. Let's just say we're friends now, and I love his jet skills. Edited by PwnageSoldier

one time about two years ago during my 360 days i was near sandy shores in blaine county , i stopped at the 24/7 store in sandy shores and did a stick up i noticed on the kill feed that a high level player kept killing a low level player so i sent mercs after the high level player to help out the low level player, the high level player sent me a in game message "you're next" and while i was cleaning out the registers and fighting off the cops the high level player shows up and kills me.

Hazzardtohimself

Earlier this year I had a crewmate send me a message asking for help with I/E - he had a good reputation in the crew and was a high level, so I agreed and joined his public-solo session.

I spawned in my office as he was sourcing a car from Sandy Shores. I hopped in the old Buzzard and flew in his direction to help fend off NPCs as required. By the time I arrived he was on his way back to his warehouse, so I distantly followed him to keep an eye out for enemies.

As we entered the city I noticed I was taking hits through the expansive windscreen so peeled off, puzzled. No other players in the session. No obvious NPC snipers.

"Were you shooting at me?" I asked. No reply.

He made it to the warehouse and I hovered nearby as he prepped for export. He spawned outside in the car, drove around the corner, jumped out, and neatly drilled a hole through my face with (I think) a Marksman Rifle.

"EH?" I wrote. No response again.

...

I left the session shortly thereafter. Hopefully his car caught fire or was crippled by the Sultans. Asshat.

Oh, stupid me :sigh:

Should mention that the tryhards name is SirAttitude. I love that name for some reason. I forgot about the other Heist members. My friend HeXs helped me out on the heist because Humane Labs Raid is bae.

Met a guy on the heist called "BLACKRAMBO65". Regardless of the name (and poor outfit choices) he had, he was very competent and I added him to my list hoping I get to play more with the guy.

Cuts was actually 5/50/25/20, so:

5% for me (because f*ck me, am I right?)

50% for BLACKRAMBO65 (he was rank 35 and I wanted to appreciate young talent)

25% for HeXs (he's a very valuable crew member and deserves more than I gave him )

20% for SirAttitude (because I wasn't sure of their bank amount and they deserved it for a good show)

I’ve got a good story-

As a player I enjoy helping out other players. I remember how difficult it was when I was a noob and was completely worthless at this game but I joined forces with the right people and now I have everything I need in game and have a stacked bank account. But I got a ton of help along the way so I like to give back for all the people that helped me and didn’t need to.

So this person sends me an invite to their ceo org, first I check the map and make sure this person wasn’t just going around looking for trouble. I saw he was sitting in his bunker and probably waiting for potential help so I accept his invite. I immediately got an invite to the bunker which I accepted and saw there was a group now but 1 person wasn’t part of the organization. So when the guy starts the sell mission, naturally, that one player starts a gunfight right outside the bunker with all the delivery vehicles there. I managed to kill him and jump into the marshall to start the delivery. I was able to make all the deliveries with about 5 min to spare and one vehicle was already destroyed. I flew back in the buzzard and killed several potential sabatuers and helped the guy get to 2 of his drop offs. So he got 7/15 but I felt he should be happy considering he started in a full lobby with hostiles everywhere.

This guy, to show his appreciation, approached my character and gave me the finger, quit his ceo, blew me away with his shotgun, and instantly left session. The speed he did it was amazing but I still felt betrayed since he would have got 0/15 had it not been for my quick thinking. I still help people though because f*ck that guy.
