His death is not confirmed by authorities, it was said by media. He is in hospital and in life support tho.

Hm, TMZ doesn't usually jump the gun like this but it looks like they did. LAPD say they can't confirm his death yet but like Diablo said he's not expected to make it through the night. Sad nevertheless.

Yeah I read earlier that he was a vegetable on life support, there is nothing left at all. Which is kinda more sad and gruesome to think about than him being dead. Imagine everything every he ever did, is not even in his brain anymore, but still he breathes.

Same way my father went. Cardiac arrest which put him in a coma for almost a month. Doctor told us only his brain stem showed activity.

Grew up listening to "Running Down A Dream" in GTA:SA. Memories of flying a Hydra through the fog of the city heading towards the desert. I was lost in the world created and the music was a soundtrack to what is now pure nostalgia. Whenever I hear it I can't help but smile. Now, though, reading about the sudden news of Tom Petty being in critical condition and now confirmed of passing away...I'm far from smiling. This sucks. 2016 had a lot of musicians that I cared about passing away and I thought 2017 was relatively safe but this just puts all of that out the window.

Music lost one of the greats. From his time with The Heart Breakers as well as Traveling Wilburys...you'll be missed.

I have the exact same memory of San Andreas, I swear it was always playing when I was flying a hydra. I used to try get into aerial battles with other hydras.
