What Random Events would you like to see in RDR 2

Recommended Posts

TheJesus1996

One thing I really like from rdr and gta v where the random events these features make the world more alive and active, so my question is what kind of random events we will see in RDR 2, in the trailer we already have hints of what to expect so I wanna know you're thoughts.

Agents of the law doing his job, including chasing, arresting, shooting or hanging criminals in the middle of a small town. No cinematics, no nothing, just the action in the background.

Random events to see..

I'd like to see Lawmen in town. Drunks around the saloon. Pinkertons riding around. Bounties being collected. Outlaw groups riding through and causing havoc. Robberies. Hunters. I'd also like the old event where they used to have you act quick to save the guy they were about to hang from the tree, additionally the one where they'd duke you into a robbery

I loved ho in WD 2 there were so many little things happening in the backround.A guy running and seating, talking how he's about to die from a heartattack, someone getting arrested, some rival gangs getting shot, some guy destroying the car of his ex and so on.

I hope it's somewhat like this in RDR2,but should feel less scripted.

A runaway stagecoach you've got to stop before the Damsel in distress on board gets run off a cliff.

Random NPCs challenging each other to duels and not just you.

Bar fights where you can either break it up, pick a side and join in or just watch it all unfold.

Bandits.

When I'm roaming around on my horse.. I want some bandits (2-4) to show up and chase me so they can try to rob/kill me.

- Wild life attacks

- Gangs trying to rob you
- Lawmen who will come after you if they know you are in a certain area
- Barfights
- Steal and chase (more suitable in a larger city)
- NPC's approaching you for help
- Shop owners trying to sell you stuff

Of course, the world must feel alive. This is already a big random 'event' ;)

I'm sure there'll be plenty of Mysterious Stranger Missions, like in RDR1; some connected in a series of unfortunate events, some simply one-shots.

Sort of on that topic, I'm REALLY curious to see how dynamic the weather system will be.  If R* is emphasizing realism this time around (and by all counts, they seem to be), then they gotta know that weather in the Great Plains/Heartlands played a HUGE part in daily life in the Old West and even today.  Certainly, the Rockies/Grizzlies are known for some hellacious snowstorms; while we see the gang trudging through deep snow in the trailers, it's still not clear whether that weather is real-time or "story-driven," like it was when AC3 first started toying with deep snowdrifts.   It would be cool as hell to watch the snow pile up and get deeper, especially when it's driven by a blinding whiteout blizzard.

And even besides snow, there's ALWAYS dangerous, even catastrophic weather on the Great Plains in the form of massive thunder cells, tornados, blistering hailstorms, raging wildfires, constant flooding.   I'd love to be forced to outrun a storm, either in summer or winter, and try to seek shelter in canyons, caves, or buildings --- or maybe watch buildings get ripped apart by a twister....

I was thinking about this last night, and I don't know if it would fit the timeline, but a group of track-layers, working on the railroad. Nothing you can really interact with, but if you could hear them singing to keep in rhythm or something similar.

As far as I'm aware, there were 30+ random events in Red Dead Redemption. I hope we see an even greater variety in RDR 2. I also hope that in addition to these scripted events we see some truly random events on account of this new AI system they're talking about. For instance, imagine stumbling across a bear attack that isn't a scripted event, but a consequence of some NPC hunter who by chance crosses paths with an angry bear. I suppose if they implement enough of the scripted events they could create the illusion of true randomness. Either way would be cool.

Like a shootout or horse/carriage chase.

Maybe some random referencing famous western movies.

Animal attacking.

Saloon brawls.

Robberies

I would like to see some really rare encounters like a bigfoot encounter. (Make it super rare like 0.01% rare though) It would just be funny to have Arthur react to this in a weird way. Also maybe encounters in which lawmen and gangs are fighting and you can help a side out for a reward.

One of the worst encounters in GTA V was the mugger one. Literally had no use except for the time you get some stocks for it. I don't want any encounters that are not that great like that.

With that new system they showed in the gameplay trailer (the system where you can press buttons to react positively or negatively), encounters can possibly be more dynamic rather than having the usual shoot x and y.

Random encounter with Red Harlow with the possibility of killing him, a bit like Packie McReary in GTA V.

Hey, I’m new to these here parts.

I would love to see actual random, dynamic things happening, as apposed to the more predetermined events from the first game and GTA V. Systems reacting with systems. NPC’s reacting with each other. Gangs fighting other gangs. Lawmen chasing and arresting. Barfights. Hunters hunting. Things that just happen without any input from the player. The closest any open world game has come to this was Watch Dogs 2, and if Rockstar could apply and improve those things into Red Dead 2, then that would add so much more to making the world seem more dynamic and alive, thus prolonging it’s longevity.

Would love to run into Herbert Moon as a younger lad working as a shopkeeper assistant. Maybe we'll see when he began his racism and bigotry.

To expand upon it a bit. We walk into a shop for the first time at the beginning of the game and as we walk in, the shopkeeper greets us and asks us to do a side-mission for him. We oblige and we leave to go complete whatever the tasks is. When we come back, we see a commotion between the shopkeeper and either his assistant, or a customer. The assistant, or customer, being a younger Herbert Moon. We see him storm out of the store, yelling and cussing at the shopkeeper and as he's walking away we can hear him yell, "I'm Herbert Moon! You can't treat me like this!" or something to that effect. Then we never see or hear from him again until we play RDR1.

Less a 'random' event and more an event, sorry.

Coming across a man on his horse with a noose around his neck tied to a tree with a bunch of snakes on the ground. Save him without the horse spooking and he gives you a quest to play some poker and also appears on the poker tables. He's harder to beat, but offers better rewards.

I wanna see all the other gangs out there rob banks and stagecoaches. You know that random event in GTA V where robbers just outside Sandy Shores are in the middle of a gunfight with the police? Just like that!

Or randomly walking into a clothing store in GTAV as it's being robbed. That kind of thing.

Maybe you could be in the middle of selling and buying goods from the general goods store and some bandits come into the store to rob the place. You can either give them what they demand from you or you can go into deadeye and end their petty existence. As a reward for killing them, you get a 25% discount from that store for life.

Nah, like so if you shoot the cougar and save John, Arthur could say something witty like "you gotta look out for them things next time"
Or you could watch John get eaten and when he back at camp john be like "hey I got ate by a cougar dude not cool" and Arthur be all like "I didn't see it"

Ok, how about two Wild West classics:

1. Girl tied to railroad tracks. You get to save her or just wait for her doom to come-a-rolling.

2. Man buried up to his head in sand way out in the desert. Save or wait for the vultures?
