The map is amazing and accurately represent New York City and New Jersey. The detail is great. The atmosphere is impressive and gives dark and gritty feeling. Beautiful and gorgeous map

it's still has minor flaw, Alderney feels like another LC borough rather than another state, and Bohan was rather small

With that being said, I rate the map 9/10

10/10. Best map in the series.;)

Whilst I don't necessarily believe a 10 represents perfection it's the map I've explored the most and immersed myself in. GTA IV makes me want to visit NYC/NJ irl. If I ever save up the money.:p

Some alterations/missing landmarks here and there, but it's the most beautiful concrete jungle I've ever experienced in a game.:)

Best map in the series, and is one of the best maps ever put into a video game. There are some flaws, but they are overshadowed by the greatness of the map and how accurately it represented New York City, the attention to details, atmosphere and proper resource utilization. The great story complements the map really well.

The map would get a 11/10 if all boroughs were made a little bit bigger, some more iconic landmarks were added, and if Lady Happiness faced the right direction.

it's still has minor flaw such as no buses or bicycle, and Alderney using LC license plate and using LCPD vehicles

These are not flaws of the map.

I gave it a 9, it is an extremelly well-crafted map, but it is too small. No, I'm not saying this because "SA's better in everything", no. It's because I love it so much I'd like more of it, I just loved the New York feel. A parody of Long Island, Staten Island or maybe Upstate NY would be very welcome.

10/10. Liberty City feels like a real city unlike V's Los Santos.

10/10

Because this Liberty City is more real city than Los Santos from GTA 5, which is look flaws compare to Los Angeles and GTA SA LS

I wish i could go to New York and New Jersey one day...

Missed the game... (Liberty City from CTW doesn't count)

10/10 from me as well. I was thinking between 9 and 10, but none of the maps depicted in the series before combined such enormous amount of details with decently sized map with respectable number of enterable interiors and nice spots to venture to. I could drive around the city for hours, just admiring the lively city with its inhabitants minding their own business. We need more such lovely looking locations.

I go for 9.7, or just 10. HD LC of IV is the best map in the series. Though less saturated in max setts, still it has a unique charm.

Hey friends, I remember when I was a newbie of IV, back in 2014. I used to stand near the corners of streets at night, in_game near Roman's cabs, imagining how beautiful would be the land beyond those waters, pointing exactly on Rotterdam Tower, Algonquin.

8/10. I'd say 10/10 if not a few minor goofs, esepcially how Rockstar treated Alderney as a district of Liberty City, rather than something separate.

Hmm there's another one now. I wonder where it came from ? :p

Edit:I was only messing around. I give it 9/10. It gets the concrete jungle feel of NYC down pat. I only wish there was a bit of countryside to give it a more diverse feel

8/10. A very solid map. It really feels like a condensed and busy city. There is always something going on, even in the most empty spaces.

A little bit of green would have been welcomed. Not exactly a countryside, but more natural surrounding areas in general with more vegetation would have sufficed IMO.

I give it a 10 I love liberty city it's such underrated i think it being overused made people dislike it but me I have fun in liberty city people say it's dark and gloomy but it's not always like that it depends on what side of the city you are in

You can catch me in the best car at the maisonette 9 and the star junction is so big and it has many enterable places I visit fancy restaurants down there and the comedy clubs or catch a magic show Alderney is alright since I have an apartment out there but I don't visit it like that unless I need to put a new car there

Im always in middle East park safe house because its the closet to Algonquin everything I need Is on that side of the city anyways every other gta city just had better beaches

It would be perfect if Bohan was a little bit bigger, and if a Staten Island parody was included.

just do it bob1

The map is great, but I feel as if 30% of the map is areas that we never visit and are useless to the story. We never visit them. Most of these areas are near the end of the map

7/10 because:

>Alderney could've been removed for Staten Island or Long Island

>Liberty City is not as congested as real life New York

>No Long Island Railroad

Many roads of LC are to small or wrongfully done in the game. Ex. Look at park drive much bigger and longer in real life. Coming to america movie with all the mercedes park drive is pretty wide. Times square is a huge laughing stock. To few enterable locations other than that a great map. But way to small only approx. 2 miles from north to south.........that is not ok. The airport is to small. Bad vegetation. Not enough life around a city of that magnitude. You can drive from north to south in algonquin in less than 60 seconds.

But even then, when you compare the infrastructure of New York City and how much Liberty City lacks in it, it's just awful and ruins a lot of things. Liberty City has the infrastructure of Cleveland in real life, at best.

Like others have said, it recaptures the concrete jungle of NYC but I wish it had a country side and I know New Jersey has a part that's alittle country 8/10

I like the dark and dusty liberty city. The map is small but this is not a problem. The problem is lack of the off-road terrains.

But maybe that's just my nostalgic feelings kicking in. Anyway, the overall atmosphere is just amazing.

If they added a bit of countryside, made Bohan and Broker-Dukes a bit bigger, and made Alderney more distinct as its own place rather than just a borough it would be 10/10. Overall an excellent map and my favorite city-map in the series.

3/10

This is highly influenced by other factors, such as:

- physics, rendering cars useless off-road and Niko very slow on stairs

- extremely aggressive police, preventing you from exploring prison and the UN buildings for instance

- blurry colourless graphics

As for the map itself, the major flaws that I remember (haven't played the game for years):

- lack of rural areas. The whole thing was just a grey city, even the grass was grey. The only park in Alderney was scrapped pre-release.

- too many details. It took me 10 years to realise that this is the single thing about the new games that makes me hate them. Makes the game look less arcade.

The good things about the map?

- underground metro network. I must admit it was pretty good compared to all other games.

- abandoned rails network. It is actually possible to find out where the tracks used to be 50 years ago, i even did my own research and created a topic here on this. The leftover parts of the rails actually form a single network, rather than being scattered around the city randomly.

Fair enough about the lack of rural areas, but the grass is definitely not grey.

I can't say in all the years I've been on the forum having too many details is seen is a bad thing. I'd rather have as much detail as possible as opposed to having less. I'm sure the majority of people would agree too.
