Speaking of, I should also finish the game finally. It seems infinite.

For sure. It's not actually that long. Around 3/4 of the way in it starts to feel that things are repeating but it's not as long as you think. The final few missions are great. The seeing the story wrap up was really satisfying for me.

Also, if you have the DLC, it's arguably better. It's more focused, new part added to the map and interesting missions.

On an unrelated note, Dishonored 2 is on Game Pass. Never played the first but was curious about these games. Downloading now. f*ck it, I don't care if I didn't play the first one. I'll just jump in to the second one.

Sorry for the double post but felt we got some big news and some good news.

Mike Ybarra, after 20 years at Microsoft has left. He was the Corporate Vice President of Gaming and worked closely with the Xbox Insider Program.

https://www.windowscentral.com/xboxs-mike-ybarra-leaving-microsoft-after-20-years

And I just remembered, The Outer Worlds is coming straight to Game Pass. Apparently you can pre-load it now.

Already have.  :)

This is one of those games that I got excited about and intentionally ignored until it got close.  Can't wait.

Also...again...its nice to see gamepass be something more than worth while.

Pretty much me too! :D

Thankfully, like Fallout's the release was close enough after announcement. Well, assuming the announcement was E3, cause that's when I first heard of it.

Question for some of you. Maybe Trip, you'll know best. I don't have the worst laptop and I'm more and more interested in PC gaming. I do love Xbox and Game Pass.

Just wondering for those of you that play on both. How is Ultimate actually working? Can you give me a sort of personal use-case scenario where you've found it most beneficial?

I don't think I'll give up Xbox any time soon. But, I wouldn't mind experiencing some games on my laptop. But with Ultimate, I can pick up where I left off on Xbox, right?

Ya don't need ultimate for that.  That's all 'play anywhere'.  But not everything is 'play anywhere'.  Being able to play the same save between console and PC is totally cool.

I can't say that I have gotten a ton of mileage from Ultimate.

That's right, my brain is foggy sometimes.

Nice, well, might use The Outer Worlds as a game I might bounce between the two. Thanks

Yeah but, not sure about my controller situation, I can probably plug in my Xbox controller in laptop, right?

Downloading Cities on my laptop now. I never wanted to install games on my laptop because I do most of my work on my laptop. Didn't want to mix the two.

Regular old usb cable will let you plug a controller in.

I hear you on not using a 'work' laptop for games.  I dont mix the two either...then again I'm on a Surface Pro...not really a suitably gaming rig.  *gaming rig is still a big ol' water cooled desktop.

Forza is one of my play anywhere titles.   State of Decay 2 is also one of my fav play anywhere titles.

Nice one. Last time I remember plugging a controller in, I had to button map. That was probably 10 years ago. I'm assuming it's not so primitive any more.

Yeah, I'm letting the beast out by installing games on my laptop!

Yeah forgot about Forza. Wouldn't mind trying that out and State of Decay. Must pick that game up again. Was enjoying it for a zombie game at least.

Think of coming back to Xbox again next gen.

Been thinking it over, and I'm actually more interested in Halo Infinite than The Last of Us 2 and the other games coming out for that system in 2020. I really miss the Xbox days. There was a period where Xbox 360 was all I knew, and it honestly formed some of my fondest gaming memories. I love PS4 and I had some great memories with it, PS3 too, but both of those never compared to games like Halo 3 and the memories I had. I also really like Microsoft's approach to backwards compatibility and the game pass. Something Sony lacks in. Still a lot of 360 games I never played.

It depends. The downside would be losing all my stuff on my PSN account. Then again, majority of that sh*t is PS Plus games which I don't technically own.

I like to consider myself hardware agnostic.  People seem to like the interface and interconnectivity of xbox over ps4.  At least that's what I gather.

This past gen I was going to go ps4 because of the price difference.  I said to my wife "it will be weird moving to ps4".  She replied "but we're an xbox family".

I think my heart always has been with Xbox. I went through so many 360's. I only bought a PS3 at the tail end of it's life span, so I just naturally switched to PS4 afterwards. Also, Microsoft didn't have the best conference back when Xbox One was launching, but they've really come a long way now I feel.

I think PS4 probably has a better interface. It's really simple. The Xbox controller is miles better though, always has been, I like the DS4 but it still didn't come close to the comfort of an Xbox. I used to get really bad pain and cramps playing on PS4 after a while.

I actually bought an Xbox back in like 2016 I want to say, I'm sure I posted about it on here. I played through Halo MCC on Legendary which was awesome. I didn't stick with it though because of money problems and I was trying to juggle playing two consoles at once, which costs too much money for me with the memberships and whatnot. I've never not been without a PS4, so having an Xbox exclusively again would be interesting. Not a big fan of two consoles, I think Console & PC is the way to go. If you can. There wasn't much good backwards compatibility or game pass back then though, so Xbox is so much more appealing now.

Either I buy a S or One X on Black Friday (which is soon) or I wait it out a year, but I don't think I'm capable of waiting that long. I think I might just pick up a One, play it until Scarlett releases, and maybe trade it in towards it. I like that the newer Xbox One's don't have that ridiculous power brick. I think that's one thing I found off putting about the OG.

The most affordable one I've seen right now is the All Digital Xbox which is sitting at £199 over here, and will be lower by Black Friday. That is by far and away the cheapest that is brand new. Personally that's not a bad deal if I just went the Game Pass route and Digital games, but it wouldn't be that great for the backwards compat. I don't actually use many discs these days, but I still like having it.

I think I'll just wait for the normal S to go down in price soon.

I nearly went over to PS4 myself but Xbox is too ingrained in me. I'm glad I stayed, despite the rough start to the Xbox One, it payed off in the end - playing Horizon 4 on release via Game Pass, getting The Outer Worlds and just all the other games on Game Pass made my backlog even bigger but gave me a buffet of games I'd probably not normally play.

Having said that, I know PS4 is a wonderful console, just not for me. I'm not ready to trade in my Xbox controller, my preferred UI, faster downloads, Game Pass, backwards compatibility, for slightly better graphics and a few extra exclusives - granted, they seem like good exclusives but I'm not stuck for games right now.

Would be good to see you over at Xbox. I'd be interested in people to play the next Halo with.

Yeah, that's one thing I forgot to mention as well. The friendship aspect. All my friends really dig Xbox, so I've not been able to play online with them for a while now. Lost a lot of good online friends from the 360 days because I just faded out.

Always thought Xbox Live was more refined. Also never found trophies as satisfying as achievements for some reason.

I'd definitely be down to play Halo with someone. Looking forward to playing Halo MCC again, it brought back some nostalgic memories. Really hope Infinite is good.

Speaking of achievements, I'm gonna put my shill hat on.

If any of you have a Truachievements account, you can win free stuff from Von Coin. You get coins from the achievements you unlock and then partake in auctions that you can potentially win. They take care of shipping. Downside is that you need at least 1500 coins to even have a chance at winning anything (personal experience) and you only get 1 coin per 10 TA Score (essentially gamerscore plus a percentage based on how many people unlocked it) so don't expect to win anything soon.

I just want my referral bonus, don't judge.

So before I get an Xbox, I wanted to ask, what is one exclusive you guys think I absolutely must play through first? Besides Halo and Forza, as those are obvious choices I'll absolutely play. A lot of the cross platform games I played on PS4, but there's a ton of games I never experienced because of the exclusivity.

Word is Gears 5 is pretty good, if you're into that kinda game. I plan on tryin it out the Game Pass for PC, once i'm done with Outer Worlds and Metro:Exodus

Yeah, I used to dig Gears back when I had a 360. I've heard it's not as good as the older ones, but I reckon I'd still have fun with it. I enjoy anything that's a mindless shooter basically. All the Gears games are on the One as well right? Should be a lot of nostalgic fun to be had there.

You might be interested in Quantum Break. It's got Aiden Gillen and Lance Reddick, produced by Remedy (Control, Max Payne, Alan Wake).

On Game Pass, there is State of Decay and State of Decay 2. Not a huge fan of zombies but played SoD2 and it's a lot of fun.

The list of must-play exclusives isn't that big compared to PS4, especially when you exclude Halo and Forza. Also worth noting that Halo: Reach is being remastered.

Also, Gears 5 is getting rave reviews. Haven't bothered with that series though. Gears 5 is was a day-one release on Game Pass too.

Thankfully Halo and Forza basically are equal to many of PS4 exclusives IMO. At least to me. I'd choose replaying Halo over many of those games any day. The fact I've never played any Forza games as well means I have a TON of content right there. I've pretty much got the best of both worlds anyways as I experienced games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Last of Us, Uncharted Collection before switching. Some of the best the PS4 will probably ever offer.

State of Decay is a good shout, I totally forgot about those games. I do love good Survival games, and Zombies is always a plus for me.

I'm a big fan of State of Decay.  I hated zombie fiction all around for years and then I played my first zombie game Dead Rising 2 because I was excited by the E3 xbox one launch presentation of Dead Rising 3.  Love DR3.

Also a big Remedy fan.  Yeah, Quantum Break is worth the playthrough.  It's a bit weird because of the interwoven live action show.  I recently tried playing it again...including watching the live action but just couldn't do it.  Those live action shows are just bad.

Gears is a pretty beautiful game.  Both 4 and 5.

There just really isnt a whole bunch of exclusives for the xbox.

Yeah, I'm actually a bit surprised how little exclusives there are. Not that big of a deal though, like I say, a big part of me getting an Xbox again is because of Halo and Forza. Anything else is a bonus. The controller is also a huge deal to me, I'll be really glad to be backing using an Xbox controller. I just always preferred where everything is positioned. It feels a lot more comfortable on more longer gaming sessions.

The Game Pass has a lot of multi platform games that I never played on PS4 which is really nice as well. So many games I just never pulled the trigger on buying, so this really helps for someone so indecisive like me. 😂

Well, that's great that you are pretty much like me. I think, you're pretty open minded to most types of games, which will suit you fine. I'm glad you have Forza to look forward to. It's really fun. It's taking a bit of break I think until next gen so, should be interesting to see where they go.

This is exactly what I love about Game Pass. I played Abzu, some other small indie titles that are just few hours long. I'm not really invested too much in them but they offer a lot of fun. I wouldn't purchase them otherwise but since they are in Game Pass, it's like this buffet of games to sample. But PS4 has the equivalent of Game Pass too, right? It's Playstation Now or Playstation Plus? There can't be that much difference is there?

I need to give it a go again. I started it when I was kind of pre-occupied with other games and never really broke in to it. I enjoyed seeing the live-action stuff because of Aidan Gillen and Lance Reddick. Both of those actors play huge roles in The Wire and I'm a huge fan of that show. I wouldn't put it past the Remedy guys watching that show too.

You can see both of them in this same scene.

@Mister Pink The thing with Playstation Now is it's just lacking quite a bit. They made a decent addition recently by decreasing the price and adding a few bigger games, but it still doesn't feel complete to me. It doesn't help their PS3 games can only be streamed, and if you have a bad internet connection it's basically impossible. I like that Xbox has genuine backwards compat and also they put brand new games on there sometimes. Everything is downloadable and there is more variety I feel.

This was a pleasant surprise.

Xbox One testers can now stream any game to an Android phone

Microsoft’s new Console Streaming feature arrives ahead of xCloud

Yay.  I'm an eligible tester with a good android phone.

Yeah boy...setup was easy.  I didnt have enough quality time for a real test.  My next edit will include pics.
