Yeah, I’ve got exactly 249 games that are ready to install, some are old 360 games that are now backwards compatible, a sh*t ton of games for gold that have been released over the years, and the rest are games that I’ve bought. I can’t even begin to imagine how much memory space I’d need for all my games on the console.

Anyone else have an issue where save games get corrupted all the time? Is my main HDD dying?

Only had that issue once and I think it could have been down to shutting off the machine too quickly, not a fault of the HDD. 

 

What you might try do is back everything up and format the drive. See if it still gives you issues.

He might mean the factory reset.  When you factory it gives you the option to keep your stuff or start from scratch. The start from scratch would be like a reformat (I suspect).

 

I used to have to do it to my first Xbox one - not because of corrupt saves.  I would turn on the xbox and it would prompt me to do the factory reset.  Eventually I used it as an excuse to get an onex.

Yeah, sorry I should have specified. That's exactly what I mean. Start from scratch.  You might just re-add stuff bit by bit in case it's a particular corrupt bit of data that's causing it. At least if you add what you need bit by bit you can keep track of if/when it starts acting up again - assuming its just corrupt data. 

 

I used to work for 360 tech support. Most of the time when there were freezing issues, problems with save-files, it was just because there was one bit of corrupt data on the HDD causing problem - usually another corrupt savefile.   I remember you could go in to and view files and saves and it could be one corrupt save file that would cause the thing to crash or act funny. First we'd isolate the issue, by removing the HDD. See if issue occurs without the HDD. If works fine without the HDD then we've isolated it to the HDD. You can try to a reset on the HDD and keep your stuff - no harm in trying that first. If that doesn't work, I think your saves are on the cloud anyway, so you might delete everything and start from scratch. One thing that comes to mind though.. could a corrupt savefile be stored on the cloud? That would be frustrating. I'm not too savvy on the One and One X on the troubleshooting side of things. I'm sure someone else in here is more in the know.

I did that once when I got RDR2. The install process borked the whole thing (goddamn R*) and the console refused to boot up lol. I'll wait and see if the issue comes up again. Weirdly enough it seems that all save games are corrupted and I did encounter some very strange bugs in Forza Horizon 2 as well and soft locks.

Stupid question but if I wanted to play on a controller, I assume, I would have to do the button config on the PC/Laptop first before streaming to Xbox?

They already mapped the controller accordingly.  Actually it did t even support mouse keyboard until recently...so I've read.

 

And the bummer news is I did not get it working but I didnt try hard enough.  My xbox and computer are in totally opposite areas of my house and I'm lazy.  Actually I get more concerned about my dogs running up and down stairs with their bad backs because they arent designed for going up and down stairs...they follow me everywhere.

 

I'm going to try again tonight.

Just install and run "wireless display" on your xbox and from your PC hit Win-P.

 

I still haven't gotten it to work from my gaming rig but it worked like a charm with my surface pro.  My gaming rig is under a bit more security so I may just need to lighten up a bit.

Bought a new copy of Forza Horizon 2. The old disc was a dud and nearly bricked my console several times lol. I've reset it too many times this year. Hopefully it won't happen again. f*cking game discs. Why do I bother?

Soooo... I enjoy being in the preview program and doing my part.  I'm in Alpha skip-ahead.

 

Anyway they are going to offer a package with gold and gamepass bundled into 1 subscription.  I got to join early and test. 

 

For now I'm paying $1 with a next billing ($1) date of 1/1/2020.  Sweet!

I'm waiting for mine to brick again and I won't factory reset anymore. I've already done it 5 times and the freezing and save corrupting issue keeps coming back. They f*cking skimped on the HDDs or something. I believe it's some sh*tty Toshiba drive.

Jeepers.  I've been in the preview program pretty much since it started and I've never had any hardware issues.  

 

 

I did lose one xbox to a sh*tty drive.  It was my day one box.  It lasted long enough I felt. Best part about that console was it came from the factory with a loose screw floating around in the case.   I half ass tried to fix it myself by just jamming a laptop harddrive in it...without doing any research or anything.  It didn't work.

I'm pretty sure some other people have noticed this as well, but when you go on your phone in GTA to send a message to another player in the session, it's like Playstation now. In other words, it doesn't block the whole screen, only a portion of it.

 

I don't know if this was an update by R* or Xbox themselves (since I only play GTA for the most part, I cannot test it on other games), but I definitely like it. Xbox for me (as of recently) has been a little better than playstation. Some of the good bits of owning a playstation are being passed onto Xbox, and not to mention, the most recent dashboard update was really good. Much more organized and crisp looking.

It could've been a fluke for me, but the alpha update froze and no factory reset could fix it. So I just sent it in and got a new one.

 

Beta has been fine though.

Hopefully next-gen Xbox will have an SSD (at least as an option). That would make sense since the PS5 is rumored to come with an SSD.

SSD is becoming more affordable and will be standard issue for all main players.  MS released the original Xbox One Elite with a hybrid 1TB SSD and HDD drive awhile ago.

4K60 is a bit of a moving target. It's not even doable on PC unless you like to play on medium settings or lower.

The thing is, optimization on consoles is far better than PCs.

 

Consoles nowadays have 2-4 different hardware specs, whereas PCs have thousands and thousands.

 

Which brings on the argument of needing to spend a lot more to get the same performance on PC as a console does.

 

 

Either way, there's plenty of games running 4k/60fps on the X. So there should be no reason to not have every game do it on the next consoles. Otherwise that would be a complete waste of time and money.

Not open world games though. 60 FPS would be nice but I feel like devs are going to half-ass it with performance that drops below that target.

As someone who was anti-console PC master race for years, I can testify that console gaming has gotten pretty darn close to PC and I suspect the next gens will put consoles right next to PC.

 

Add more kb/m supported games and bam!

 

Think about it.  Thank about all the years you've been playing games and how when new games came out you were so blown away.   "This sh*t is amazing.  Look at these f*cking graphics!  Amazing!  How do they do it?"  We look back now and they all look like sh*t.

 

It only gets more and more mind blowing with each technology bump.

Welp, press F for my dead One X.

 

It's not completely dead but the HDD is corrupting my sh*t. E105 keeps coming back. I must've reset the damn thing 5 times and sometimes the console won't even start at all. I requested a return for repair. Here's hoping they'll give me a new one or f*cking replace the HDD. I hope they won't screw me.

 

The second option would be to speak to Microsoft\Xbox directly but I'll probably then have to ship the broken one with my own money, which will be annoying.

E3 is around the corner. Now, with the general public expecting news on the next generation and Sony confirmed not in attendance, this seems like the perfect opportunity for Microsoft Xbox to create a buzz and begin marketing for the next gen. PS5 is confirmed and we have some details. It almost seems too perfect for Xbox to announce some first party games, particularly new IP's and then to top it off, come out with next newest most powerful console. 

 

It's a really tricky call. Do you outright build a more powerful console than your competitor at a higher price or do keep within a certain retail price and try build the specs according to what you think the average customer will afford to pay?

 

Personally, I don't think Xbox wants to be behind in power this gen. They'll probably build a premium Xbox "Two X" and then just regular Xbox "Twos." Not sure how that will work out with online play. Or.. they might just build a very powerful console but the peripherals will be different - one affordable bundle and one premium bundle.  

 

Either way, I hope it's just more powerful - I don't need mad exclusives, as I'll never complete all the multiplats I want to complete anyway. So exclusives don't really mean anything to me. If a game isn't on this platform, I'll just find another game. I suspect Xbox were thinking like this but public pressure is getting the best of them.
