I watched E3 on mixer, I haven't gotten anything, yet.

 

 

Do you not use game pass or something and it's weird it's installing the games, or ..?

Man I'm conflicted. I've been on PS since the PS3's release, and naturally, I just don't care for the Xbox exclusives (though I think anyone would admit that PS exclusives are better at this point).

 

At the same time,I'm an incredibly shallow person... And the Xbox One X impresses me to no end, especially with its relatively affordable price point. I want it. I hate the feeling of being on the worse performing platform!

 

But how long until PS start talking about the PS5? They're not going to let Xbox steal their limelight of being 'for the players' - how long will it be before it has its own powerhouse back at the top? I miss the days when exclusive games were the only real worry (or do I just miss the days when my parents would buy both systems to keep us happy regardless...)

It looks like it wasn't installing stuff from the game pass. It was all of the Rare replay series games. Plus other weird ones like Mirrors Edge and others and a few other weird ones I never heard of. Some Mine craft addons, forza cars and other game addones. I killed 6 in the install queue and deleted a good 10 games that already installed.

 

It was weird.

That moment when you realize that the Xbox One X is as powerful as a PS4 and PS4 Pro combined.

 

If nothing else, I'm just looking forward to being able to play native 1080p titles at ...native 1080p, without having to lose access to my entire XB1 (and 360 BC!) library and switch to PS4.

 

Here's hoping some more recent titles either get 'Game of the Year' re-releases that are XB1X-optimised - i.e., they're either 1080p or 4K versions, but scale down dynamically for standard Xbones. Probably too much to hope for something like MGSV (because Konami's long abandoned that...), but ...NfS 2015?

 

Mafia III and Watch Dogs 2 would be ideal - they're both a bit of a blurry mess on XB1 right now, but a 1X re-release based on at least the PS4 version, if not the PC version - ? I'd be all over that.

 

 

Overall, XB1X feels like an actual, full console generation up from the 360 - not the compromised half-measure that was this current 'generation'. With hardware that isn't being held back to accommodate being a 'jack of all trades, master of none' home multimedia hub thing, and sufficiently powerful that devs aren't going to be taxing it any time soon, it's nice to have something that's 'future-proofed' to a reasonable degree, instead of feeling like it's unable to properly keep up with current games' demands even at launch.

What are you on about?

Before, it was Xbox was too weak or about having lesser sales. The argument now is that Xbox has no games.

Weaker sales are also explained by their original plans to restrict the console. However, this criticism that PS4 fans keep regurgitating is actually less logical than it seems. Nintendo is a company that develops average consoles and supposedly decent games and they are really all about exclusives yet they aren't getting anything resembling even Xbox sales.

Regarding Xbox "having no games." (These figures are taken from the video below which were taken from Wiki aside from my own speculative calculations).

 

From April 2016 to April 2017, Xbox Live subscribers received 23 AAA games for free vs 13 AAA games on PSN service.

 

Released games for the PS4 is at about 1000 and Xbox at about 900. Exclusives for PS4 there is about 257 and Xbox One, about 103.

 

So, while Xbox may not have as many exclusives, there's still over 100 exclusives. They may not be as good a PS4 or most them aren't interesting, you could argue. But how many of the 257 exclusives are you going to buy on PSN? Having more games may increase your chances of finding something you like. But how many scores of games do you need to have to find one or two games you like?

 

So, if about 25% of games are exclusive on the PS4, how many of those games will you actually buy? What percentage of people on PS4 will own more than 5 exclusives, do you think? I'll be generous and say 10 exclusives. 10 exclusives on PS4 is 1% of all the games available.

 

That's why I don't buy-in to the exclusives debate. All the best games are multiplats. Are there great exclusives? Yes. But I don't buy in to the hype or the argument that exclusives make for a better gaming experience. And that's what we want right? The best gaming experience.

 

Now, given that Xbox receives more free AAA's as a part of the Games with Gold, backwards compatibility is free and not paid service and is being extended back two generations, there's technically only about 100 games less on Xbox but this might as well be crossed out with BC support then you're left with a margin of maybe 1% (if you buy 10 PS exclusives).

 

I hardly think there's no games for the Xbox. I've got about 15 installed and about 50+ ready to install. A lot of them were free from XBL.

Funny thing is PS4 fans usually mention about a handful of exclusives that they played and enjoyed. Statistically, you won't like all of them. It's still about the third party games and that's a good thing. They should compete in terms of features and price not actual games because ideally everyone should be able to enjoy the same games.

I had a PS2, but didn't have an og Xbox. I got a 360 because it was released first and after that, it was too difficult to switch back. The main/biggest reason is the controller. PS controllers are too small and the dpad/left analog are in the wrong spot. Better UI, too.

 

Most of the games I like are on both, anyways. Plus, I won my Xbox One with the promotion they had with Doritos and Mtn Dew back when.

 

Also, Nintendo has real exclusives. lol

I watched E3 on XLEi and received free games to download but I ain't touching them in case it's a mistake. They said use Mixer to get free stuff. I didn't use Mixer.

I didn't use mixer either. The only thing I watched was the xbox pre E3 event (via xle). I got all sorts of games, skins, addons. It was weird. I had no idea.

I think this proves it was actually running on a Scorpio or the equivalent thereof - but it is a bit disappointing that it's checkerboarded.

The same goes for ACO

 

 

And I remain unsure about Metro. Although that was running on an equivalent PC not an actual Scorpio kit.

 

The hardware is a leap beyond the competition still and it is a powerful system but the dream of actual 4k60fp/s gaming on console for 500$ might have been too good to be true.

 

But on the other hand, this could be the result of the original One and other consoles holding developers back. We'll see.

Third party devs won't bother to optimize their games to that extent and they'll probably choose graphics over resolution and frame rate as it has been the case historically.

 

Only a small number of exclusives (like Forza) will run in 4K native 30\60 FPS. I knew that from the start.

Because people stopped buying pointless sh*t for their old Avatars after switching over to Xbone. And it just doesn't fit on the Xbone. Basically they want you to start buying ridiculously priced virtual clothing and this is how they justify it.

Are the Xbone CG systems more reliable than the 360 if I were to buy used? I don't mind buying new either and if I did, I'm assuming the best time to buy would be around Christmas?

I still find it strange how no devs seem to exploit this time of the year with a triple A release.
