So I bought the Xbox games pass. A lot of the games I've always wanted to try so for $10.95 a month I figured why not? Just installed Farming Simulator 15.

Microsoft has just unlocked more RAM on project Scorpio, bringing it up to 9gb....

 

Microsoft has revealed that it has freed up more memory for Project Scorpio game developers. The machine ships with 12GB of GDDR5 memory - and now 9GB of the total is available for titles, with the remaining 3GB used for system-level operations and other applications, including a native 4K dashboard. The news comes via a tweet from Mike Ybarra, corporate vice president of the Xbox and Windows gaming platform.

 

So, we'll have 9GBs dedicated to the games and the 3 for the OS/other apps. Nice news to release pre-E3. They could have kept it for the reveal, lol.

Geoff Keighley is apparently confirming that Scorpio will be priced at $499. Mixed reaction from the fans.

Alright so the thing with the Scoprio is I don't quite see a reason to buy one. It's a good upgrade but lacks a real killer app; I came away impressed by the games not by the system and that's not a good way to sell it.

Gaming is a good reason to upgrade and to sell it.. I'm sure there'll be fancy bells and whistles after. I think advertising the games for a gaming console is fine especially since MS were accused of trying too hard to be a media centre and not focusing on the core thing that gamers want - A good gaming experience.

 

Afterall, apps exist on PS4, Xbox, PC, Apple, iPhones, Androids, it would want to be a pretty revolutionary app if it wants to be part of a campaign to sell a new powerful gaming console.

 

I am with you though, it was nice to see the Skype feature when Xbox One was being promoted and an app could have been some cherry on top but really, I'm happy this has been console and game orientated. The way it should have been originally.

 

Xbox One and PS4 seems only like the interim next gen experience now. For me, A 4K TV and 1X will be my 2018 goal for Red Dead 2 and a few others.

Yeah man, I hear what you are saying. I think MS have been pretty good at upgrading the UI and adding apps so I'm hopeful it will be taken care of. But you are right, would have been helpful to see something new on that end of things.

Scorpio was a no go for me ever since they announced it and they did nothing to change my opinion. I just can't see the value in spending so much money for what the system offers. Your mileage may vary, of course.

 

As for the presentation as a whole, I guess it just wasn't for me. AC Origins looks good, but the demo merely confirmed everything we already knew from the leaks and haven't answered any questions raised by them, so no big surprises or impulse to change my thoughts on the game in any way. It looks beautiful, the rural landscape is fantastic and the eagle is overpowered as hell. I hope we'll get some more substantial info tomorrow. It looks like Crackdown dropped the city destruction gimmick, which is very disappointing. Still, it's nice to see the series back.

 

Anthem is Destiny and I predict another TOR situation for Bioware. If they'd rather support the Montreal team for Andromeda better instead of wasting time with this. No Halo news. MCC or no MCC I have to shamefully admit that I'm guilty of wanting 3: Anniversary and I would have bought that game day one. It still holds a special place in my heart. Everything else, I did not really care about. The backwards compatibility all the way back to the original Xbox is cool, I guess.

Anthem looks like what Andromeda should have been. Big focus on exploration and such; but really this won't be like Destiny if they manage to stick their signature flair into it with a well constructed world and an interesting story. That will make it a true killer app
