it's funny a current gen console has a sh*tty marketplace and you have to manually clear the cache by holding the power button on the machine itself, yet a more than 10 year old 360 has a superior dashboard and the cache can be cleared using the controller.

 

Getting really annoying having to clear the cache everytime I add or remove mods for Skyrim.

Is anyone else worried about the running pattern of Xbox One exclusives getting cancelled? We've had four announced games get cancelled since 2013, and that's not a good sign to me:

 

- The original IP by Black Tusk Studios (now known as The Coalition)

- Phantom Dust

- Fable Legends

- Scalebound

 

This to me raises concern because I want some games to play for Xbox, ones that are new and different. The biggest example was the Black Tusk IP, which they hyped as being a brand new game, but once they acquired Gears of War they said it was a "tech demo", even though they in no way acted like it was that. Phantom Dust isn't officially cancelled but right now it basically is because they're not doing anything with it. Then of course there is Scalebound, which would've been awesome because it had the talent of Platinum Games behind it, but no they had to pull the plug. Fable Legends didn't look great, but it basically looks like they threw the whole franchise down the sh*tter.

 

There are games to look forward to, such as Crackdown 3 (please don't cancel it, sweet merciful Jesus), Forza Motorsport 7, Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2, and Seas of Thieves (please don't cancel that either). I just hope that with the announcement of the Scorpio, they'll be able to deliver more games that aren't on PS4. I want games that are completely new, and the only one that is a new IP above is SoT. What are your thoughts on this?

If they cancel State of Decay 2 I'll be pissed. Sea of thieves I'll be a little annoyed but I hate talking to other players so probably won't be as bothered.

Isn't Crackdown 3 supposed to be a reboot? I kinda want to see what happens after Crackdown 2 since the rebel leader was making her own Agent.

Having had Dead Rising 3 for 2 years without playing it, I can only say I wished I've gotten to it sooner. Really enjoyed it and I'm now doing the DLC stories.

I would love to see Microsoft do a game that isn't future sci-fi or about magic or have some sort of fantastical beasts in it but make a humane story grounded in the reality we live in like a Red Dead or Uncharted or even The Last of Us. A lot of Xbox exclusives don't really appeal to me that much at all, apart from Forza and maybe State of Decay. But a nice big story-driven, action-adventure would be nice, aimed towards the adult market a less aimed a pubescent teenage boys (GoW).

Played through the first two parts of The Cave. I would recommend it if you like Puzzles.

 

Also with Killer Instinct, is this a whole game? I remember getting something free before put there wasn't many characters to chose from.

I'm sitting here at my PC...installing Forza 3...realizing that "play anywhere" actually means something to me. The other week I needed something "new" to play so I went with Forza 3 and the decision was because of "play anywhere".

I've had the same happen to me for arguing with people on Forza. He told me he was going to report me on all 8 of his accounts and sure enough, I recieved a communication ban for a few days. This was a good few months ago now but really, who has 8 accounts?

People abuse that feature so hard nowadays. I have friends getting reported all the time, but they're usually the type to talk sh*t in shooters and 2K so it's not really a surprise. I haven't gotten a comm ban yet, I just don't like talking sh*t online.

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but if I buy an Xbox One S, will ALL of my Xbox One games look and run better? Or is it only the HDR compatible Xbox One games that will look and run better and all the other regular Xbox One games will have no difference? And If I buy an Xbox One S but I'm playing on a TV that doesn't support HDR, will I still notice an upgrade in visuals or do I have to buy a TV that supports HDR to notice the differences?

I use a Turtle Beach 800x headset, which has Bluetooth as a feature. So you can connect your phone or PC (if your PC doesn't have Bluetooth get a dongle) And then I can have audio from the game and music from my phone or PC simultaneously, whilst still being able to adjust the volume of both independently. Its a nice feature to have especially if you are using a game guide or something similar from YouTube.

 

The 800x isn't exactly cheap but you might be able to find another Bluetooth headset for less, then it would be easy

Xbox One's are durable as f*ck. I was moving into a new place yesterday and my sister was carrying my xbox, in the box by the handle. (The bottom of the box was not sturdy and not taped anymore cause I opened it..) and as she was coming down the stairs it slipped out the bottom and it tumbled all the way down. It cracked the faceplate a lot (not like it snapped but it came knocked loose), but it still works like nothing ever happened.

Is anyone else here looking forward to Sea of Thieves? The game looks really interesting, being a massive open world pirate game where you can form your own crews and search for treasure in a beautiful fantastical pirate world, all while engaging in battle with other players for their treasure. I think this game has a lot of potential to be very good, and will hopefully make us forget that Rare ever made those horrible Kinect Sports games.

When I replaced my xbox one with an S I picked up a new HDR tv too. I see the difference(when playing the few HDR games available).

The new dashboard (and other updates) still hasn't landed for me yet. Dag nab it! And I'm a religious preview member who does all the damn quests and such and such.

 

How many years into this gen are we? Like 3? I flaked and packed up my living room 360 and now I realize I need more BC games. Stupid sh*t like Wheel of Fortune and Jeperdy...maybe some GTA IV with Liberty City Eps.

I still have my 360 hooked up. I play a lot of 360 games between X1 games. There's still plenty that are not BC. And I refuse to buy remasters and SEs that only add graphics updates and little more, so I have a bunch of games with remasters on X1 and are not BC. Batman, Assassins Creed, GTA, Deadpool, Skyrim. Then there's a couple games that aren't BC and do not have remasters, such as LA Noire, GTAIV, Oblivion, Arkham Origins, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3 and Rogue, GRAW. And I've been daydreaming about breaking out my Guitar Hero/Rock Band 1-3 controllers.

 

But as time goes on that list shrinks. At that point when I no longer need 360, I'll give it away, probably to my sister who can use a media player.

We really need some GTA IV and EFLC. It's been long enough now, I really crave it. I don't want to buy a 360 just to play it when I'm all ready looking for an original Xbox to buy. I just don't have the space.

 

In other idiot news I just realised Xbox has Cortana. Maybe I noticed it before and sort of block it out like I do on my laptop but if I'm using the headset, it might be handy. Although it seems like it's only useful for launching apps/games but searching defaults to Bing search? If the YouTube app is open can you get it to search YouTube?

Thomas Mahler who was a developer for Ori And The Blind Forrest has commented on the Xbox Scorpio and made some very interesting remarks about the console as well as the PS4 Pro. In the post he said that the Xbox Scorpio is going to be a “full blow next generation” gaming console and not just an upgraded console. He later said the console wouldn’t be like the PS4 Pro which he called a “half-assed upgrade” which he said the PS4 Pro “kinda is”

 

 

Thomas made it clear that Microsoft will need to do some work on promoting the new console to make sure the consumer doesn’t compare it to the PS4 Pro, and that it might just be considered an upgrade rather than this big new console.

Right. So, this shows that games running on an Xbox One S has a higher frame rate compared to games running on an original Xbox One. But, what about the actual graphics itself? Are the textures more defined? Is the picture sharper? Are the character models better looking? Is the resolution higher? etc.

I haven't actually used Cortana on Xbox, but If its anything like PC I won't bother. I was actually fiddling around with her the other day (insert that's what she said joke here) on Windows 10, and I found it to be a real waste of time. Items took longer to open than If I just searched for it normally, It wouldn't open half of what I wanted, on the MS forums it said applications needed to be pinned to start to function but that didn't work for most of them either. So unless I want a bad joke or the weather, I have no real use for it.

Cortana is super convenient when you have kinect. I use it most to pause/resume tv and movies...plus sound up/down all the time. I also use it to launch games, netflix and that kind of stuff.
