Have you guys already heard about Xbox One S being for 250$ for holidays?

 

I have mixed feelings about this move from Microsoft, if for one side it might allow the platform to stand a chance against the PS4 Pro this Christmas and avoid many players to move into Sony's system (after all for the average consumer the specs' difference is not that big of a deal while the price is) and can make those who are keeping some pennies aside for the Nintendo Switch to reconsider their console purchase; but on the other side it might cut some people from buying the Scorpio next year, since by that time people might face a new, much better Xbox, but their current device isn't even 6 months old.

 

Apparently, Xbox has been outselling PS4 since July up until November, when PS4 outsold Xbox. I assume that has to do with the release of the Pro. I think both consoles are targeted towards new gamers of the generation. I think the PS4 Slim was supposed to be a response to the Xbox One S, but the Scorpio is definitely a response to the PS4 Pro, which isn't even really a "response"; it's a frog leap ahead of the Pro.

 

Right now, I just think it's a game of treading water for both companies. Next year should be a bit more interesting. I'm almost certain Sony will attempt to respond if the Scorpio's price-point is relatively affordable.

I was on the verge of getting the collection too. Glad I waited because the remaster isn't nothing to write home about.

I couldn't wait and got the remastered release. I didn't do a side by side but I'm gonna say the remaster of Infinite is way better than the original 360 release. And from memory I wanna say Bioshock one looked better than the original as well.

We all know it's coming, how much better will the graphics improve? Y'all think GTA5 will graphics almost on par with PC once the Scorpio is released?

Very unlikely. The game will be old enough that they may not even bother to patch it at all. You may not even see a bump in resolution either but seeing as R* is still heavily investing in game updates you never know. If they do decide to patch the game my guess is that it will be something as rudimentary as bumping up the resolution. Native 4K is unlikely though.

 

They'll probably announce the next GTA game by then too and I imagine they'll really start focusing on it once they've announced it.

 

Edit: f*ck. The Xbox One S is so cheap I really want one. I'm gonna need a new Xbox to play the newer Forza games since I'm playing through all of them at the moment. I guess I could justify purchasing one 'til the Scorpio comes out because I really like the Xbox platform and I've been so far collecting all of them. However, I really want to save up for a 4K monitor.

I can finally play Infinite and see what all the jazz was about.

Play through it and then fire up Burial at Sea DLC. The opening sequence of ep 2 is worth it alone. I've never been so impressed by a DLC...I've never smiled so much at a story being further explored. No sh*t...not kidding.

BioShock trilogy is finally BC, f*cking sweet. I was considering getting the remastered collection at some point, but now I can hold off on that a while longer.

 

And yeah, major props to 2K for making the trilogy BC even with the remaster out. Here's hoping Ubi does the same with Assassin's Creed's Ezio collection, and especially Rocksteady/WB with the first two Arkham games, especially since the Return to Arkham remaster actually looks worse in many regards from everything I've seen.

I doubt it would be anywhere near that. A graphics card like the RX 480 would most likely be required, which is $200 itself. Accounting for everything else, i'm fairly certain Microsoft wants to stay between the ballpark of $400-450 to compete with the PS4 Pro, otherwise it would just be a very boutique item that likely won't sell as well (why would I buy a Scorpio when a PS4 Pro is cheaper and has all the 4K capabilities I want)?

Except for a 4K Blu-ray drive. I mean what is up with that? The One S has one and Sony basically invented Blu-ray. Too cheap to implement their own technology in another product. (edit: well, they didn't invent it but they are one of the contributing companies behind the technology)

 

Project Scorpio won't have that much more GPU power compared to the PS4 Pro. Even with a Vega GPU it will still very likely be mid-tier or lower performance wise.

Speaking of kinect...I got the adapter to hook up my kinect to my new Xbox one S today. Those 4 days of no voice commands were tough. Ha.

 

I had to sacrifice one of my external 2TB drives since I needed a usb port(for the kinect) and the S only has 2 usb ports.

 

I'm liking the S. It seems a bit more responsive over my day one xone. I had to get the 1tb battlefield version in order to get a black one...I just couldn't do a white xbox.

Maybe it's because the OG One has that super sensitive on/off button. I light piece of dust floating around could trigger it.

 

I have a semi-related weird electrical game related issue. There is a little table with an electric tart burner on it next to the arcade cabinet in my living room. Every once in awhile when you turn the tart burner on or off the arcade cabinate thinks it just received a quarter. If only I knew about that like 30 years ago...I'd have been running around the arcade with a tart burner. Ha

Mine used to turn on and off by itself and eject disks. Did this for like a day at least when I was just wanting to game. I finally got fed up and got off my lazy ass to take a look at it. My nephew had left candy behind it and ants were everywhere. I wiped everything down and have been problem free since.

Sweet, Bully is BC!!! I've only played through it once, and kinda rushed through it in the end (had a huge backlog I was working through), but ultimately enjoyed it. Will definitely give it another go on the XB1.

 

Now where's GTA IV, R*?

For some reason my console has used over two petabytes in the past two weeks. Yeah petabytes. I'm not sure it's even possible with my isp to do this without them totally shutting me down, and I wouldn't blame them.

 

Anyone know if this is a glitch or maybe inaccurate?

Maybe we'll get it on GTA IV's 10th anniversary. I might just buy the virtual versions of the DLC next time they go on sale in preparation actually. To make things easier for me as I have to constantly take out New Vegas disc 2 each and every time I start my console to not get greeted by "You don't own this game hurr durr", cause it won't register the DLC if I'm using disc 1

 

Still disappointed Saints Row 1 didn't go BC on their 10th anniversary. And pretty pissed the only BC Saints Row title is one that IS ALREADY on the Xbox One. I wonder what will come first at this rate, Saints V or BC Saints Row titles......

A year and a half until the anniversary at this point. Jesus, how the time flies. I remember III's 10th anniversary as if it was yesterday and bam, now IV is suddenly nearing a decade too.

 

I hope we'll get IV sooner rather than later, there's no harm in putting the game out there. Unless they are planning a remaster, which I think is unlikely.

 

And yeah, Saints Row is getting kinda overlooked too. I thought SR:TT was BC too, but it appears I was mistaken and IV being the only BC - that's just baffling. Either way, SR2 needs to come back too.
