Still should've gave us a black option, too. lol

Anyways, has anyone ever ran into a problem with an external? I was transferring and downloading sh*t on it and then it all stayed queued, even if I started downloading something fresh. Wouldn't start.

I figured I was overdoing it a bit. lol

I put like thirty something games in my download queue and nothing happened to me. I've only used like 20 percent of the storage and I downloaded every single digital game I wanted. Now to take care of the disc installs.

It seems fine now, was also wondering if the update had some bugs.

Speaking of, they don't have a "Coming Soon" option for games.

They also need an option to select games and then decide what to do with them; move, copy, delete. It took forever to go in each game and choose move.

A same option for downloads; Pause, cancel, install, hide.

This update keeps crashing Twitch. It starts to load then it just closes back to the dashboard.

Anyone else here getting the Scorpio?

I will be waiting until i hear more details about it... but will probably get it regardless of what they say for 4k + VR.

I'm sure I'll get a Scorpio. I'm not getting any younger and I'm about to get a new TV to compensate for my aging eyes. I need a bigger screen :). It will be 4k and all so...

Considering I don't have a 4K TV and I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon, I don't think I need an upgrade. Bad enough I barely game anymore...

Not for how much money I expect it'll be. I am lucky to have a first gen Xbox One.

Or, not have the Kinect with the console and made it better in the first place. lol

Obviously the reason why they removed the port from the system. Failed but still cool.

The Kinect is an amazing device, and it was originally developed to compete with the Wii and the advent of motion controls. It's essentially a Wii on steroids. Unfortunately, the novelty wore off for many, and people went back to sitting on the couch with their controllers, and this is also why I think VR is over-hyped at the moment, but I digress. It's just a shame that Microsoft was forced to abandon it. I understand that they were trying to force developers into developing for it by establishing a healthy install base, but forcing it upon consumers when it was a largely unproven device was sadly misguided.

I don't fault Mattrick for his vision of Xbox One, but I do fault him for on his execution of it. He was so out of touch with gamers, that he almost deliberately chose to overlook their concerns and allowed his own inflated ego to drive its launch. It was just one of many blunders he made. Had Kinect been more seamlessly integrated, it might have stood a fighting chance. As an example, the new XB1 Slim has an IR blaster. They could have also added an on-board mic into the console, or perhaps put it in the controller like the DS4. There's better ways to do it. That's all.

I would feel sympathy for the situation if they hadn't forced it on consumers and instead launched with two versions (one w/ kinect and one without) on day 1.

I'm glad they're not focusing on the Kinect anymore. That was the primary reason why the Xbox One had weaker specs than the PS4 -- they had to accommodate for the Kinect. Now that it's out of the way, they can focus entirely on the console itself. Since the Scorpio is leagues ahead of the Neo in terms of power, it's paying off.

I'm getting a Scorpio hoping that I can game on it in true 1440p, which should work given that consoles can be set at different resolutions much like PCs. So far the only reason I'm getting one is to play the Forza exclusives and GTA VI.

Honestly, I don't see many reasons to jump on the Scorpio.

Seems like the only reasons to jump on are higher resolutions and more stable frame rates at lower resolutions, assuming developers use a resolution that it can handle well (obviously, that's going to depend on the game itself), rather than something it can just barely handle. With reports that frame rate locks will be the same across the board, there's honestly no legitimate reason to jump on it unless they've got some huge ass surprise up their sleeve.

Seems like you'd just be better off staying with the current xbox, getting the slim or moving over to PC.

Project S seems very interesting and all but I'm more focused on trying to buy an actual gaming computer instead. Just seems like the right time to so now. As long as they stay true to their "No console gets left behind" statement. I'll be happy with my original Xbox.

Also, I'm happy they dumped the Kinect. I happily bought my console as soon as it came without it. They were just trying to force it on everyone way to much. It seemed great for voice commands to me and that is about it.

I'm not sure about Scorpio. Either it will be just a luxury item, something that will merely boost performance, while the games will stay playable across all systems, or Microsoft will really push for upgrading and phase out the original Xbone owners over time. In the former situation, I'll stay where I am, because I don't really care for the best tech that much. I don't have any plans for the 4K TV, 60 FPS is not a deal breaker... I just don't care. If I'll be able to play all the games I want, I'll be fine, even if they look and perform slightly worse. In the latter, I might just pull the trigger and build a PC, because everything is now multiplatform anyway. Or jump over to NX, if Nintendo manages to secure the third party support. Hah, like that will ever happen.

But who knows. The release is more than a year away and the real effects won't be clear until 2018/19 anyway. A lot can change in that time.

So considering this gen has had fanboys sucking the ass of Digital Foundry, how do you guys think things will change once the Scorpio release?

With it being rumored to be 'the most powerful console ever', how do you see sales and view on the Xbox brand changing? I think things will shift on to who has the better exclusive if Scorpio does out perform the Neo.

To be honest, that statement is a moot point. Of course it will be the post powerful console ever, just like these consoles we have now are the most powerful. lol

Either way, if Neo does come out this year, Scorpio will definitely be more powerful. Considering it's states to release a year after.

It was pretty odd for Sony not to say anything about the Neo at E3. I know if it is scheduled to release later this year, there's nothing they can do to match the Scorpio.

My main point being is that this gen everyone bashed the One for being underpowered. How will things change now when the sides flip?

I like the specs of the Scorpio and all. But I need to see something in the next year to justify the purchase this time around. Back in 13' I was an "Xbox Only" guy and thats why I bought an X1 at launch.......but then soon after relized that the console didn't have that many games that I was really into exclusive wise. I got Dead Rising 3 of course at launch and it was okay. But I'm not into Halo anymore and I haven't bought a Gears of War since the original. Forza Horizon 2 was good though. Less than a year later after X1 launch I got a PS4 and found out pretty quick which console had the exclusives that fit me better. Right after I got the PS4 I started buying all my multiplat games on there instead of X1, mainly because my brother in law had a PS4 as well but alot of the games looked and ran better on PS4, so it wasn't a hard decision. So basically if Microsoft show me something in the next year, game wise, I'll probably get one. I'm also waiting a year to get a 4K TV, holiday of 17' which they will be even cheaper then. PS4 Neo is a sure buy already here. Sony just brings the exclusives that I like so I'm deffinatley getting one. Plus it will probably play some games better than the PS4 did, so theres that as well.

Even if Scorpio has a small number of games that I would be interested in, I'm still going to give it a chance and see what the future entails. Not giving up on Microsoft pulling through, and giving me that game that fits me in the next year. I thought it would Quantum Break. Its a good game and all but nothing I'm going to be talking about three to fives years from now. Which to me, makes it pretty average at best. Rise of The Tomb Raider was pretty good on X1 though. I really liked it.

Which brings me to another question. Did they stop making the PS3? I have been looking for weeks now and no one has anything new I guess. All preowned which made me think they were not making them anymore. I have no faith in Sony bringing B.C. to PS4 Neo. If they didn't care about the PS4 having the feature, I can't see them much worried about PS4 Neo having it either. Its not like the PS4 didn't sell well or anything so thats why I think its pretty much bottom of the list of Sony priorties. Not to mention the price hike it would put on PS4 Neo as well. I did however find a new PS3 at Walmart which I bought because it was there last one. Now I can finally play Demon's Souls and I'm at ease.

Now that I have a PS3 though..........I could care less if PS4 Neo ever has the B.C. feature. Now I know why guys critisized me for trying to push the B.C. feature in the future for Sony new consoles. They were all guys that already had PS3's, kinda like me now. LOL. I finally understand, LOL. Sad though I had to buy a whole console for just one game. I only own Demon's Souls, thats it. LOL.

The only reason I trust Microsoft is because they have too many resources and cash on hand to prevent failure. Sony has been recording a net loss year over year, and their PlayStation brand is one of the few successful divisions keeping them afloat. They could not have pulled off the same 180 degree reversal that Microsoft has in the last 3 years with the Xbox One. Had Sony did was Microsoft did this generation, I can guarantee they would have waved the white flag.

Having said that, Scorpio needs to be within a reasonable price point. PS4 didn't just outsell XB1 because it was more powerful, it also did so because it was $100 cheaper. So this new console needs to at least be within the $350 to $450 range. Current technology retails at $200 with the AMD RX 480, but the 8-core CPU part of it will push that number up quite significantly. It's hard to tell where the state of technology and their costs will be almost 2 years away, so we could be looking at even cheaper costs. Couple that in with mass production and costs should decrease even more over time.

In other news, Microsoft has a list of the Play Anywhere games debuting. So these are games that work interchangably on both XB1 and PC. I'm definitely going to be going this route with Forza Horizon 3. I was hoping to see Battlefield 1 on there, though. -_-

No surprise that only Microsoft published games are on the list at this point.

Would be very surprised to ever see the unholy trinity of EA, Ubisoft and Activision take part, tbh.

Activision may take part for the sake of CoD. However, I can see EA and Ubisoft doing their own thing rather than going through Microsoft.

The cross-platform thing is a neat feature but it's not that useful when you think about it. If you happen to own both a PC and a console, chances are that you will choose to play the game on one of the two platforms. Also, if you happen to purchase a gaming PC later, if the game is worth it to you then you will pay for it again, most likely not full price, and not think about it too much.

Don't buy into the 4K hype just yet. Judging by what we know so far, the Neo will run most games at 4K by upscaling them, which is not that different than running your current PS4 console on a 4K TV. It won't really look all that good. As for the Scorpio, I predict a similar thing happening even though it will be more powerful than the Neo. Developers tend to favor graphics over resolution and that trend will never stop. I think a 4K TV purchase would only make sense if you want to see UHD movies and stuff. Personally, I'm going to get a high quality 1440p monitor.

I can buy both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 new here. Weirdly enough, the price difference between console generations is quite small (less than $100).

Does backwards compatibility on Sony consoles work well? On Xbox, it pretty sh*te all across the board (speaking mostly about Xbox classic games on 360) which is weird considering that all of the Xbox consoles run on DirectX. If you draw an analogy to PCs, most older games run just fine on PC, even on Windows 10.

I thought this was pretty detailed. Spencer claims that one game will work across multiple consoles. So if you buy a game for the Xbox "Scorpio", you'll also be able to put it in an Xbox One and it will play. Essentially, the same SKU as would a PC game working on different hardware specs.
