I am thinking about changing my Gamertag to Mg₂Mg₅Si₈O₂₂(OH)₂ (which is "cummingtonite"). Any other gametag ideas, or does this one seem good?

Honestly, what I did was just sat down for a while and just thought of a couple of words that just sound cool and tried to combine them. It's unique, different you don't have to put dumb characters or numbers in (in case it was "taken"). That's what I did.

 

I'm not gonna lie, that gamertag sounds sorta decent.

It truly is a great experience. I've had my Xbox One for a little over a year now, and I love it so much more than my recently purchased PS4. The PS4 experience feels so hollow and dull, unlike Xbox One, when I turn it on, I feel like I'm a part of a big club where we're all hanging out and doing different things. I especially love the friends feed where people post statuses and video clips, it's like Facebook for gaming. I can be watching TV and get notifications of when people come online, or I can snap the party app and have a conversation with a friend while watching a show. It's incomparable.

 

The only thing the PS4 experience has going for it is its responsiveness. It's extremely fast and has zero lag.

I got a question. Is there an external DVR-Hard Drive device you can plug into the Xbox one to record gameplay? Without plugging directly into a PC while recording? Also I know there is a built in DVR in the Xbox one.

Yeah, I use an Elgato with an HDMI splitter to strip the signal of HDCP. This way I can also record TV shows on my PC drive in mp4 format without the need for a cable DVR box.

Xbox's Game DVR blows. 5 maximum minutes of recording is a complete joke to be honest, it took me forever to construct a 15 minute Sunset Overdrive clip due to the upload processes and such. I need to get myself the Elgato HD60 soon, as I'd love to record some proper gameplay and a lot more efficiently.

Pretty damn bummed out that I have to send in my XB1 tomorrow for a replacement from Microsoft . The damn thing is only two months old and it's already having a hiccup. It turns on for a split second and immediately shuts off. The power supply is fine because it shows an orange light while it's plugged in, so the power supply is receiving power. I talked with Microsoft and after all the troubleshooting that I did prior to calling them to save myself some time since they would have made me do it, they said to send the console in for a replacement.

Aby, yes the game DVR does suck. I really like the clip system though on the Xbox One but I think it's kind of weird that when you record GTA clips it doesn't record the music on the radio...

 

E: I looked into the Elgato HD60 and you still have to run it directly to the PC. What I am talking about is a DVR Hard Drive combo that records to the Hard drive, then you can unplug it from the console and into a PC when you are done recording. Does such a thing exist?

Unfortunately, no. You need a device that can capture and decode the signal first, and that's why the Elgato or any similar device requires a PC connection. No HDD on its own will record video files for you.

Well sh*t. It seems like someone would have thought of a peripheral for the XBO and PS4 to extend their DVR capabilities to make something like this happen. The upload studio leaves a lot to be desired.

I really wish there was an option to turn of auto video recording. I like it for some games, don't really bother me. But for GTA, it's so god damn annoying, you cant do like anything in this game without the console recording everything. My ACTUAL clips get buried by the random junk Rockstar decided would be cool for the console to record every single time. I don't need 15 clips of me sniping someone in the head, LOL.

 

Hope they add an option in the future to turn this off. (Unless there is a way, and someone can enlighten me.)

Go into settings->preferences->Uncheck Record gameplay with game DVR.

 

Wait... It's changed it now says "Allow broadcasts and Game DVR uploads"

 

You could try checking that to see if it works. Otherwise there may be no way to turn it off anymore.

Streaming via the Twitch app is really fun since I've got good enough internet for it to be near top-quality. Only thing I dislike about it is that I have to appear online to stream, can't do it while appearing offline.

Viewers from Twitch, not viewers from my friends list lol when I stream it's usually for some specific members here to view, so don't want the extreme publicity.

Yesterday I saw an article saying DR3 was gonna be all cheap - it isthe only disc game I have and I'm dying to replace it with the digital version.

 

Not sure how much I trust the article though...it also had Mafia II in the Xbox One list and on sale for $4.

MSFT announced that the Xbox One will re-remain at $350 after the holiday in the US only. You could say 'I told you so'. We all saw this coming. Good for them, and good for competition. The gaming market has only improved because of this competition.

Judgement was utter sh*t compared to the other GoW games imo. Judgement lacked story and they introduced some sh*tty arcade style points system for kills, that was awful, but I'd love to see a new Gears of War game, I love that series.
