Anyone else having a horrible experience after the recent update? My Xbox One is now just as buggy as it was on day one if not worse.

What has made the experience worse since the update? Also have you tried completely powering down the console and doing a cold boot?

Snap App crashes like crazy, when trying to do the new "double tap" snap feature it lags horribly, party Chat has a glitch where it says that nobody has their mic plugged in and a few other various issues I've been having.

Most of these errors get fixed by hard resetting but it's all one hell of an annoying inconvenience.

They need to add some sort of task manager that allows you to close all of the background apps at once. I've always noticed that it bogs down a bit after opening tons of apps.

They also need to add more support for audio. TV pass-through audio is still being simulated as surround sound, and I can't get the new DLNA app to pass-through DTS audio to my AV receiver. I heard it has to do with audio-mixing conflicts using the snap features, but whatever it is, they need to get on it pronto.

When games really start pushing the thing to the limit (and I mean the absolute limit like GTA 5 did with the 360) making it pump lava out then it will become a problem. They should have an option to end tasks when you exit the app.

Just a little advice for anyone looking to transfer your game installs and dlc on to an external HDD. Just do one game at a time. Wait for it to fully transfer and then the dlc should follow right afterwards and then move on to the next game. I did mine pretty much all at once, meaning I just kept clicking game after game, before I knew it I had around ten games in the queue in reality but only one would actually show in the queue under My Games and Apps. It put the X1 into overdrive, I mean, everything worked fine. I could switch to Netflix and it worked good. But the X1 went into a "prioritize" frenzy, having issues figuring out which should come next in line to transfer files. I mean all my transfers went okay, but I would just do one game at a time to be safe.

Not everyone wants adapters and wires though ya know. I'm a wireless guy, f*ck all that nonsense.. it's 2015 basically, not 1999.

Well, every headset requires the adapter, so.............

For $75 you get a nice headset, that can be used anywhere and you get the adapter for free($25 value). How can you go wrong with that?

Nah, they're releasing true wireless next month and then some other brands are coming out with true wireless, so..................

No chat cables, no nothing.. I rather just wait.

So, Phil Spencer has recently addressed a few questions related to plans for the Xbone: Backwards compatibility, the cloud and DirectX 12. I for one am super excited for backwards compatibility. I'd really like to be able to go back to COD4 or Red Dead without having to use my 360. I don't really care about the cloud thing, but we have yet to see. We honestly don't know what it's capable of, so it would be dumb to right off completely. Then there's DirectX 12, and I agree, I don't think DX12 will make a difference. But! I'm still super excited for backwards compatibility.

Honestly I've never really understood why people get wireless headsets. Pay more for more hassle, that's the way I see it anyway.

How is wireless a hassle? It's wireless. No plugging in, no cords, nothing.

And wait, they're going to do backwards compatibility? :O

Depends on your situation mostly.

I think the next headset I buy would be wireless. Can't be doing with 10 feet of wires across the room.

I think he's just saying it's another thing to keep charged. My charge station already has enough, xbox/ps/wii controllers.

It's not confirmed, he jsut basically said he was working on a solution. http://gamingbolt.com/phil-spencer-i-want-to-do-something-about-backwards-compatibility-on-xbox-one

Plug it in an alternative outlet after you're done playing/overnight. Problem solved.

Pros and cons on wireless and wired.. I much prefer wireless. I game from about 15ft away from the television.. I don't need cords becoming trip wires for my son and 2 dogs. Too much of a hassle for me.

As far as backwards compatibility, I hope they integrate it. I'd love to be able to play my 360 games without having to swap between consoles.

The Xbox 360 is backwards compatible with OG Xbox games. I remember that compatibility was on a rolling basis, and that more games were added to the list over time. I still own GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas for the OG Xbox, which are playable on my 360.

If BC originally came with the console, you can bet it would have been a great selling point. It meant the switching costs from 360 to X1 would have been cheaper, because most people would have sold their 360. I think what he's dealing with right now is market cannibalization. Are the executives willing to ruin 360 sales for the success of the One? At this point, that may be a big fat "YES."

Too much of a hassle. Especially when there isn't any extra outlets, modem, controllers, tablet plugs

What does playing 15ft away from your television have to do with it?

Sure you would need a 3 foot audio wire to connect the headset to the adapter but I don't see how it's a big deal. No @trip hassle. ;)

Backwards compatibility would be great but I don't see myself popping in any 360 games I have anyways.

Bc the controller is huge enough as is.. I don't need an adapter plugged in taking up space when I can just have a wireless headset period. Like the old 360 plug n text thingy bugged the sh*t out of me.. same with the current plug in for One mics .. I don't like them.

As far as the 15ft, I have TB's that are wired with like 15ft of cable.. I can buy an adapter and use them for the One, sure.. but again, I want wireless, period. No adapter, no cables, no audio cable, just my controller and my headset.

I don't want anything running from my headset to my controller.. it just urks me. What if I want to walk in the kitchen real quick? I'd have to either carry my controller with me or unplug it. When wireless, I can just set the controller down and begin my journey. That's just one of the perks for me. To each their own though.. kind of getting tired of having to repeat myself honestly.

Though to be honest, I'd love to have this again

but for the One.. I would die happy.

Most wireless headsets don't last through extended gaming sessions. Not to mention you pay more for wireless headsets compared to a wired counterpart.

That confused me. One of the problems with having a name that is also a verb I guess.

I always fear I'll lose fidelity with anything wireless when it comes to audio, but i totally hear GW on the controller plus adapter plus headphones is kind of big and bulky. I'm gonna have to pick up a set of headphones with a 90 degree plug because my studio headphones have the straight plug. Aside from it getting in the way I worry about snapping it off.

Yeah.. I tend to snap my cords by accident all the time.. doesn't help that the stock One headset plug-in's basically have a vice grip.. I'll drop my controller or something by accident and the cord acts as a bungee. I just hate wired headsets.. my personal opinion though. Too much of a hassle for me.

I really want the earpiece mics again though :(

I agree. I want everything to be wireless. I'm just OCD like that. I want to be able rest my headset around my neck and get up to get a snack real quick without having to bring my controller.

First world problems. :breadfish:

f*cking love the new easy xbox record feature with the new update. f*ck knows why this wasn't there from the start.

Using the DVR was a pain in the arse, it would work the first time then often it would continue to buffer forever despite saving the clip, so if I were to try to save another clip later I couldn't as it was still loading from last time.

This will make battlefield gameplay clips f*cking amazing.

I am not into the way the friends list has been moved, I am glad it has it's own tab but it not only is now more annoying to get to, but it looks weird and off-center like I am half way between one tab and another. Looks f*cking dumb.

It still has a long way to go yet though. It would be nice to have a friends list lite version that I can just have quick buttons to invite to party and game and join their party and game and send message etc from an app that doesn't take 5 hours to f*cking load. The way the messages are now I really hate visually, and they no longer show up in my notifications at the top which is a pain, but at least it is a bit easier to accept and respond to a message and go back to gaming.

They really need to work on more quick button options and faster ways to do sh*t that you will need to do if you are currently gaming. That is the top priority.

Yeah, I agree on that as well. Quick buttons would be much better.. though I'm not a huge fan of snap, I understand it gives us a bit of freedom to multitask but motherf*ck.. I can't play a game hardly when my screen is all squeezed and sh*t .. like streaming on Twitch, there's no way in hell I can keep the twitch snapped to see people chatting, it just f*cks my focus while gaming up, all squeezed and sh*t, so I have to have my laptop handy to see chat while gaming.

Other than that.. I have no issues with any of the updates really.. I like the quick convo thing but still.. I'm not a big fan of gaming and having something snapped up. I still find myself having to pause the game and deal with what's snapped, unsnapping and then go back to gaming. Might work just fine for some but my OCD goes nuts when any thing is snapped.

And yeah, I don't like that we don't have a notification up top any more for messages either. I had like 3 messages the other day I finally read because I keep looking up top for notifications and forgetting that the messages show up in the friend window now.. like wtf.

Why not make the windows that are snapped semi-transparent that way you don't have to minimize the size of the game and if you want to do whatever with the snapped window it goes to solid bg, then when you switch back to game, back to semi-transparent. I think I would much rather have some system like that than what we have now.. but either way, it's not a deal breaker for me.

It's light years better than 360 dashboard and it's versatility.. 360 dashboard and actions are the speed of smell.

E: Downloading Darksiders II on the 360 now.. loved the DS1 so I know this is going to be good and I read that it's also open world too? But this sh*t is downloading so f*cking slow for some reason. Maybe my net is geeking up, idk. It's only a 7GB download and it's hitting the 2hr mark now and I'm only 22% .. zzzzzzZZZZzzZZz

Well, when you have 0 friends like myself, you don't have to worry about any of these problems. I just use my Xbox One for gaming and that's it. So, none of these updates mean sh*t to me.

You can actually do it with the TV . If you put the TV in "Zoom" mode, it will leave the TV at full screen when you snap an app. It just centers it up. So it's doable, but there's no way to control it for other games and apps yet. I'm sure they'll adjust this, but all in all, I'm glad they added the Friends section to the snap menu. I couldn't stand having to leave the game and open the Friend app just send a message or add a friend.

Aye, at least we have something in common. That's why I see no point in upgrading.

Even then, I still see no excuse for upgrading. I'll wait until next Christmas, but that's if the price is low enough..

Still deciding on which bundle to buy....

Would it be better to buy the white X1 and buy a WD 4TD, or go with the COD bundle for a while?

Just got finished researching the WD drive and its only $115 and some change on Amazon.
