Your profile says you are 20 years old. You sure about that?

Does his profile also say that he's a vapid c*nt ? Because we can be very sure he is one.

They're standard price for "arcade" games, though. :/

I haven't gotten the msg either. I don't really keep up with the preview updates either way.. I kinda like the new msg system where it's a 'conversation' but I don't like the fact that it's a snap feature.. I don't intend on having a text convo with someone in a snap menu. Whoever said that was a good idea needs a decent ball kick.

I like it but if I do, I just use my tablet for the convo menu :^:

I really want the snap to be fully functional in the smartglass app. Just as if you snapped it on your tv.

Is it worth paying Gold Membership? I'm probably only getting one game, which is Horizon 2.

I think gold is worth it. It's only like $50 a year and you pretty much get that value back in the free games they give you. Extra worth it if you have a 360 since membership is shared across both platforms(double the free games and such).

There are also some good price cuts if you have gold. I would never have played the last Tomb Raider(xbox one) but it showed up on sale soon after release for like $30. I was not at all let down by the game and at that price I felt like I get a great deal.

Oh...and aren't you going to need gold for Horizon 2? You'll want to be racing friends and all I imagine, and I believe you'll need gold for that.

If you have any intention of playing Online, then yeah, you're going to need it.

And like Trip said, there are a number of benefits that come with the Gold Membership like free games, deals and so on.

The reason I asked is because I had no friends on XBOX 360, so it made me think if I wanted to get membership for XBOX One. And I know that there are a couple people or so who have Horizon 2 on this site, but I don't think they'd want me around lol. Edited by LightningLord411

I'd recommend waiting till Black Friday. That's when I buy Gold, because I can usually get it for $40 which is an excellent price for all the benefits you get.

I was still choosing between PS4 and X1 and was more leaning on PS4 side... but then they announced the AC Unity bundle. I'd buy that game anyway and having it included for free and AC IV (the god of AC games) as the sweetener is a pretty good deal. And I'd have a hard time finding a replacement for Halo anyway.

Damn you Microsoft. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

Was actually going to get an XBOX One, Horizon 2, and Gold that day lol.

Looks like the October update is beginning to roll out.

Update details are in the spoiler.

Xbox One Update: New Friends, Snap, TV Features and More Rolling Out Today

Today, we’re beginning to roll out new features that take advantage on the multitasking capabilities of Xbox One and connect with your friends in better ways than before thanks to your feedback. Please keep it coming. For a preview of what to expect, watch the following video, and find the full changelog below.

  • New Snap and Friends functions – Stay in the game and in touch with your friends at the same time with improved Snap, SmartGlass and Achievements functions.
    • Snap Updates – We’ve updated the Snap Center to include quick access to many of the things our fans wanted faster access to when playing a game – Friends, Messages, Game DVR, clock, and battery indicator – as well as making it easier to close and open new snap apps when playing a game. A double tap of the Xbox button on your controller will bring up a menu that allows you to open a new app in snap mode, close the current snapped app, or switch focus between your game and your running snapped app. Additionally, two apps have been optimized for Snap mode:
      • Friends Snap App – Access your friends list without leaving the game. Quickly check your friends list to see who’s online right now and take actions like send message, invite or join.
      • Messages Snap App – You’ll be able to open, read and respond to messages in Snap mode, and messages will now be displayed in a threaded conversation view.
    • Achievements App – Updated to enable sharing of achievements you’ve unlocked with captions, see a list of friends who have unlocked specific achievements, and an updated achievements Snap landing page that that shows Achievements on recently played games, when a gamer is not actively playing a game.
    • Friends section – The new Friends section enables you to see at a glance what’s going on with your friends. You can stay up-to-date with their current activities, the most popular games your friends are playing, and a Gamerscore leaderboard to see who has improved their Gamerscore over the last 30 days.
    • New SmartGlass features – You can now see a list of your top games in your profile. You can also see a list of your friend’s most popular games in the Friend’s section of SmartGlass.

  • Improvements for TV and video – We’re excited to roll out updates that will make your viewing experience better than ever on Xbox One, whether you want to watch TV or use SmartGlass as a universal remote.
    • Media Player DLNA and MKV support – The latest version of the Media Player app will now have support for DLNA streaming. With this update, you will be able to easily access and play music, watch photo slideshows or movies stored on home media servers and devices that support the DLNA server protocols. Additionally, you will now be able to playback MKV files stored on a USB device or a device on your home network that supports DLNA streaming.
    • Live TV MiniGuide – For markets where OneGuide is available, a new MiniGuide on the bottom of the screen will display details about the TV content that is currently playing. You can quickly change channels, see what’s on other channels, and tune to the previous channel or other recent channels. While watching TV, you can also launch Miniguide using voice, by saying “Xbox Select – MiniGuide”
    • OneGuide in 11 new countries – Live TV listings and schedules will be made available to customers on Xbox One and SmartGlass for Belgium, Chile, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Russia in the next few days.
    • Internet TV Apps – Apps with live TV channels can now include their TV listings within OneGuide. In addition, other Xbox TV features such as channel changing using speech and Miniguide will work with these apps. These features are enabled automatically the first time you sign into a supported app. The first app to support this feature will be Zattoo with an upcoming content update for their app. The Zattoo app is available in Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark.
    • Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass – If you are in one of those 11 countries that are getting OneGuide TV listings, you will also be able use your mobile device to control your Xbox, TV, and/or Cable/Satellite box.
    • Live TV initial setup experience – This update will enable you to select “On start, go to TV” for your Xbox One console. Additionally, you will be shown a one-time message highlighting this new capability, if you had previously setup Live TV or have not yet set “On start, go to TV” under Settings – Power & startup.
    • Live TV Cable & Satellite Box auto-detection – In select markets the Live TV Setup experience is being improved by attempting to automatically detect the set-top box connected to the HDMI-In port on your Xbox One.

  • New accessory and “hide” features – We are also excited to roll out a few other cool features this month:
    • Updated Devices & Accessories page – To access the new page, go inside Settings, where you can Find, Assign, and Update Xbox One accessories. You can now more easily “assign” accessories to specific users, such as assigning a headset to a specific gamer.
      • Firmware updates – You can update the firmware for an individual device.
      • Find my Controller – You can also more easily find (or identify) a controller by making it vibrate.
    • Hide Games and Apps on your console – You can now hide items in the “Ready to install” list under My Games and Apps. This is a per-console setting and items will reappear in the list if they are installed again from the Xbox Store. To access the shortcut to temporarily show “hidden” items, press X while holding down both triggers and it will show all hidden items until you exit My Games and Apps.

  • Password resets just got better – We’re making it easier and more secure to reset your password and add protection to your accounts. Coming later this month, if you haven’t set up your security information already, we’ll ask you to provide an alternate email address or cell phone number to use if you ever need your password reset. You’ll only need to set this up once per account, and you won’t need it every time you sign in. To set up your account security go tohttps://account.live.com/proofs/ and get more information at http://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/security/add-security-contact-information.

To check to see if the System Update is available, navigate to the System section of the Settings menu. If the System Update button is selectable, the update is available for download and installation.

I know this is kind of a bit left field, but it really annoys me how Xbox Video is a stream only service on XB1. I tried watching A Million Ways To Die In The West and it felt like I was watching some crappy video on Youtube. :/

So I still have the cheap, uncomfortable headset that came with my xb1 but I want to buy a better one and am clueless as to what I should get. Any suggestions? Not looking to spend over $150.

I'm an avid Turtle Beach fan so I'm going to link you to their headsets.. just read some of them as they're available to work as wireless with the XB1 adapter and I believe there is acouple of them that work with PS4 as well, just in case you ever take that route too.

Hide away microphone just if you want to use them as headphones. My brother has them and they're great.

Even though it says for 360, you can register the headset with Polk audio and they'll send you the adapter for the xbox one. :^:

Got the new update. This was much needed. I like that Friends and Messages can now be snapped. I hated leaving the game in the background jusg to check them. Still waiting for a sleep timer for the TV though.

I had the cheaper Turtle Beaches for my 360, they were pretty good. I'm am so jelous of you guys now though, I had my son three years ago now and he is running all over the place. I just can't be totally blocked off from sound in my house and headphones don't let you here anything else happening in your house. They are really cool though, especially the horror games that are at now. I've heard great things for The Evil Within and a good headset. They said it was the best headphone experience they have had yet. The doors creaking open when you walk through, all of a sudden it shuts behind you by itself and makes some noice. Kinda scares you they said. Sounds really fun. I'm so jelous.

Those Polk are really nice for $75!

I currently have a set of Turtle Beach, but they seem to break a lot, always snapping in half. They're just not made well. If anyone wants a really good headset, buy a set of Astro's, as almost every pro-gamer uses them. They're super durable, very comfortable and output in 7.1 sound. You can literally throw them across the room and they won't break. They're not cheap though. You can buy a set of A40's for $150, but you still need to buy the mix-amp, which in itself, can cost an extra $100. I'm hoping to get a pair this holiday.

Thanks for this coversation everyone. Ever since I started to play the new Alien game I've been wanting to get some headphones. I've never used headphones with a console.

So...can I just walk into my local BestBuy and get an adapter that plugs into my controller and just use my regular [good] headphones?

Also;

Looks like some of the November changes might be coming along to the preview program. I just got the note about the My Stats feature and all.

@trip, yeah, most places like Best Buy and all carry the adapters. So you shouldn't have an issue.

Most stereo headsets have that option man.. Xbox One alone sells their own Stereo Headset, I think it's like $60.
