Kind of a drawback now, all of the time, money and effort into developing the kinect to still have a weaker console compared to the PS4.

How much will the Kinect cost separately? Seems the Kinect-less version is already available for preorder on Amazon, while the regular version is going for $489.

 

Personally, I think I'll wait until it drops to $299 or something. before I'll consider getting one. Hopefully by then there will be some sort of backwards compatibility to 360 games.

E3 just got f*cking real, though. Their conference would've blown the f*ck up if they announced this at E3. Judging by the date I'm guessing it was supposed to be, wonder why they pushed it up.

They wanted to get this announcement out of the way so they could talk more about games at E3. We will probably still see some new features announced at E3 though, maybe even preloading.

The only complaints I heard about the Xbox One was the price tag, Kinect, and it not being as powerful as the PS4. They solved the first two issues and the third issue is being solved by the DirectX 12 announcement. Microsoft also has the better exclusives, UI, apps, etc. I really can't think of a single issue right now.

Anyway, this is good news. I knew Phil would come and takeover in style. This was damn needed. Kinect my ass, now all Xbox needs is some amazing list of games in the E3 AND in the future which I don't even see at the moment. None at all. I might consider this console if Phil continues to do wonders.

Saw the news today, I'm satisfied! I'm not going to buy a new console until the prices get even lower though. Even if it takes another year or two, I'm in no rush. The new Forza, and Halo are the first games I'll be getting

 

Incredible news though. Now I don't need a Gold membership to use Netflix on my 360, I was planning on selling it but this makes me happy.

No it isn't. Just because Microsoft says that DirectX 12 is a game changer doesn't make it so. The simple fact is that the Xbone is significantly less powerful than the PS4. DirectX 12 isn't some magical technology that's going to miraculously transform the Xbone's inferior hardware into a superior one. As for the exclusives, that's a personal thing. I honestly couldn't care less about Halo and Gears of War. I've always liked Sony's exclusives better.

The no paywall for streaming is going to be a big win in this house. Now I will be able to have the downstairs 360 on while the wife watches Netflix on the upstairs 360.

 

Oh...and at the risk of repeating myself; I can't live without voice commands anymore. I still feel people just jump on the kinect hate wagon because it seems like a fun thing to do or something.

So if the theory is correct about MS pushing this news up in order to do a complete 180 from last year's E3 and make this year "all about games"...I'm now officially curious to see their E3 hoopla.

 

I'm also curious as to how many kinect bundles sell or if people will add a kinect to their non-kinect X1 later.

 

Also - everyone got all piss their pants excited over Sony and project morpheus so why hasn't anyone mentioned MICROSOFT REPORTEDLY WORKING ON A VR HEADSET FOR XBOX ONE ?
