if anyone who has an xbox 1 can give their opinion on it, as its been out for a while now and all problems looks like their solved. whether i should get this now or wait till mark 2 is out? and why?

 

i'm not interested in ps4 opinions, only xbox.

No complaints here either. Nice intergration between 360 and X1. Your gamertag will carry over with no problems. I will say this though. Ever since I got mine, I have not went back to the 360, not one time. Not even to update GTA V. Even though I'm not done with GTA V SP, I just can't go back now. I'm just too cought up in X1 games now. The games I'm playing now on X1 are BF4, Dead Rising 3, Ghosts (it sucks on every console), Thief. I'm really getting into Thief now. It is by far the best game other than DR3 that I've played so far on the X1. BF4 is a mad man as well. The Xbox One Smartglass is cool too. Like when I'm playing DR3, all of a sudden my smartphone rings, I pick up and its a character from DR3 calling me giving me missions. Not to mention you can call in air strikes with your smartphone too. I didn't even have to get a chat pad this time either. Your smartphone is the chat pad now for You Tube and other apps. Which I think I could have set that up on the 360, but with the chat pad I didn't have to.

 

They are running really good deals now too. Like today I seen an X1 w/ TitianFall and one free downloadable launch title. Which you could make DR3 for sure and you can't go wrong. This is a really good deal. I would get the extra warranty though. You never know with new launch consoles. I think I got extra two year on top of the one year manufacture warranty that comes with the console for free for $84 at Gamestop. They said any problems they will exchange right in store no questions asked after the one year man. warranty runs out.

 

I don't use Kinect like most do. I never set it up. I'm a big conspiracy theorist and I didn't want to have to worry about feds looking up my wifes mini skirt when I.........well we will just leave it at that. LOL Just joking, I didn't set it up just because I'm not too much into voice stuff yet. My son is usually running around when I do find time to play, and he is talking like crazy now, I just though it would confuse Kinect, so it stays in the closet for now. But I'm all for it and its abilities. I'm really enjoying this console though. It is by far the most excited I have been for gaming in years.

This update allows you to change the incremental value to the volume up/down command, yet I can't find it. Because I've tried 'xbox volume up 10' and that didn't work. Anyone know?

Took me awhile to find it. It is buried in the sub menu of connected devices. I changed mine to increment by 5. I'm happy.

 

I also heard the external HD support may happen in April.

Those rumors that were leaked a few weeks ago could possible now be legit.

 

The Titanfall X1 has been revealed, but only for Respawn developers.

So a big day for the Xbox one today. The long awaited Titanfall is out and the Twitch service has been updated to allow full on broadcasting.

 

I'm not at all excited for Titanfall, but I really wanted to check out the Twitch updates.

 

Anyway...I get home from work "Xbox on" and all that jazz happens. Then it tells me I need to sign in via the remote. I grab the remote to sign in and I'm met with the "sorry we can't sign you in right now". I do a bunch of stuff to make sure it isn't on my end - and it isn't.

 

Eventually I decide to check Xbox.com/support. Yup - no xbl, no MP game services...but only effecting Xbox one.

 

Not the best way to have a massively anticipated MP game launch. Good going Microsoft.

Has anyone tried Twitch broadcasting yet? I've done two test streams so far. Fun stuff.

April update improvements.

 

• Game and app saves and updates - A game save progress bar will show you the status of your game saves. You will also be able to easily tell what games and apps are being updated or have been updated recently.

what does directX12 do for the xbox?

The biggest upgrade on DX12 is that it allows devs to directly control the resources of a PC or console that are multicore systems. So in the Xbox One's case, devs might be able to get a little more juice out of the components since they will be able to control how the console handles the game. So they can control how many cores is used for what and how much RAM is used, etc. etc.

 

So I'm guessing they can limit how much CPU power a certain process like animations uses or how much video RAM a certain texture can use. So like if a texture uses for example 12mb of VRAM, the dev will limit that texture to 12mb instead of it having the whole pool of RAM open so that might speed up calculations between the CPU and GPU. I'm not sure though as I'm not a game dev, but I think that's the main idea with DX12

I think that pretty much covers it. It's not a case of limiting processes it's about maximising them. Most games are programed to use one or 2 cores so in a system with a cpu with 4 cores or more those are pretty much left redundant. So in theory they should be able to dedicate each core to certain processes now like one will do the engine calculations one will do the physics calculations one will do lighting animaition etc etc instead of just one of the cores doing a multitude of jobs.

I would recommend waiting until the end of the year to buy one, it would probably be cheaper and there will be more games and better bundles. Most new games coming out will still be released for the 360, If I was you I would just use that money to buy games for the console you have now.

Any chance of an E3 reveal? It's either going to be Halo 5 or Halo 2 Anniversary. My money is on Halo 2 Anniversary.

I reckon e3 will be Halo central. Halo 5 release date. Halo 2 anniversary announced. Some Sunset Overdrive gameplay, with a November 2014 release date. Gears of War teaser.

 

Another big announcement will be an official price drop.

Because its a fun game. I think it's weird to compare it to Mario as Mario has been around for like 30 years and Halo has been around for 13. Mario is released almost yearly while the main Halo games are released 3 years apart.

Halo 4 MP was better after the weapon update, most noticeable fixing the DMR.

 

And Halo will never get old for me. There's so much beyond Master Chief and the Halo games to explore. I've become quite addicted to learning alot about 343 Guilty Sparks over the last few weeks, which is why I want Halo 2 Anniversary.

 

Also, MS hinted at a "big Japanese exclusive for E3". Any chance of it being Capcom developing RE 7 like the many rumors has said?

Also, Halo has a huge amount of lore and backstory behind it, which makes the games much more interesting if you've read that lore.

343's only had one game (Aside from the Halo 1 remake). Bungie's had Halo for a loooong time.

 

I gotta wait for more Halo games before I make a decision on that.
