Didn't realize until now , Uncharted level designer joined 343 Industries , not only that but the lead creative director of Killzone had also joined 343 Industries , also the creative director of Tomb Raider joined 343 Industries , looks like the next Halo will be huge !!!

People love to mock the kinect, but there is no denying that this new kinect is way better and pretty f*cking cool once it becomes part of your day to day.

 

 

I really hope people start to embrace how awesome the Kinect is soon. I've been doing(playing?) a lot of Xbox Fitness, and it's incredible how it tracks what muscles I'm using, my heart rate, and how hard I'm working out.

So I've just surpassed 10,000 gamerscore for Xbox 360, now that I've done that I wanna keep going lol. I've finally made my decision and I'm getting the Xbox One first. Then in a few years the PS4 or the PS4 slim if they make one. And inb4 redx, f*ck you bro. You don't like the console stay the f*ck out of its threads and headlines you poor excuse of a gamer. I just have to laugh at that type of comment. I'm sure most people these days carry around a Web enabled gps capable picture and audio capturing smart phone and i bet you don't even blink an eyelid carrying that around with you all day. Compare that to the xbox one and well I'm sure the government get loads of information from it while I'm at work 11 hours a day and the one is switched off at home. Yeah, but Corrinne Yu left 343 to join Naughty Dog.

 

FYI, she was main the reason why Halo 4 looked so good on 360 ( She also worked on the NASA Space Shuttle Program).

Kinect was supposed to revolutionize on how we play games (not to do a voice command), but somehow it failed miserably.

Nope. I just plugged my RockBand USB mic in. It didn't listen to my commands. I tried it with the kinect plugged in and not plugged in.

There are Smart T.V's which are capable of doing both voice and gesture control. Even PS4 has voice commands too.

 

Again, I did not say that kinect voice command is bad, but thats not it's primary functionality. It could be easily done by a Mic built-in the core system.

Can you show me an average mic acting in place of a kinect? And I mean average...none of this change it to 'smart TV' later in the game stuff.

 

Again, I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm not in any console camp by any stretch. I just get a little bummed out when I see people being a bit closed minded for no real reason. You don't have to hate kinect just to hate connect...it didn't kick your dog or anything.

I have used voice recognition software on pc my phone and i also have it on my smart tv. All of witch barely can be called functional compared to kinect. Don't get me wrong they do a semi good job but the other devices just don't come close.

 

In my experience voice recognition is one of those things where you use it once and go cool look and then never use it again. Wheras with xbox one you use it because it actually functions and is well integrated.

 

The main reason the kinect 2 is better i beleive is because it has a 4 microphone array making it much more powerful that your average cheapo microphone.

 

The video you posted it helps if they actually use the correct commands instead of making up commands in the hopes that it will do what you want. Once you have learnt the correct commands it's a breeze to use and works 99% of the time.

Tbh I don't think it's even worth debate or the time put in to test out such a theory.

 

At the end of the day it's better than any cheapo microphone and better than any form of voice recognition I have used and I've used a wide variety.

 

You can either take my word for it or carry on watching videos of people that are trying to create entertainment and do not use the functions correctly.

Unfortunate news came today from a Killer Instinct tournament where the console's original 24hr DRM was reactivated. I honestly expected the originally proposed features to be reimplemented at some point, but I can't believe they're doing it less than a month after launch.

This is disconcerting but are we sure this isn't just this one game? I think there has to be something else here Microsoft are not this dumb to go back on their word so soon. I think. Maybe it was some kind of thing with secondary accounts on the same console or friends console or something or other (going by the video in the article)

 

DRM, in particular always online DRM, is the single worst thing in gaming, I strongly believe Always Online DRM should be outlawed.

Here is gamasutra's article on the issue.

I would hope that it is just a left over glitch. It would be straight up stupid for MS to (re)reverse such a policy. The initial outcry was enough. If MS flipped a switch and the x1 had crazy DRM and 24 hour internet check ins they would be sinking themselves.

 

Although, the gamasutra article mentions how digital download games are a bit different...but MS did say (when they reversed their original DRM/24 hour internet thing) "if you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today."
