Did niko bellic particpate in the Yugoslav wars?

I wonder though,he portrays himself and 15 boys from the village as good people who don't deserve to die,pretty sure serbs weren't the good guys back in the war.

As far as I can recall, the name of the war is never mentioned in the story. People assume it's the Yugoslav Wars because it's the blanket term for all the wars which was fought in the former Yugoslavia during the 90s.

Hey asshole! My great grandpa Stanlow got hit by a taxi in 1925, so either gimmie a source for taxis not existing back then or you can get lost and throw yourself under one.

It was probably the Kosovo war Niko served in and he is Serbian, right at the start of the game when Roman picks up Niko from the docks in his cab Niko says " have you forgotten our language" Roman replies its been 10 years, he then mumbles as he gets into the taxi i need to brush up on my serbian.

I also think it was Kosovo war.In Slovenia the war was fought only in 1991, in Croatia from 1991 to 1995, in Bosnia from 1992 to 1995 and in Kosovo from 1998 to 1999.Since Niko was 30 years old in 2008,he would be too young to fight in Slovenia, as well as Croatia and Bosnia (unless he joined the army just before the end of the war,and he would still have to lie about being over 18),but he was 20 years old in 1998,so I guess he probably fought in Kosovo.
