RDR2 News/Trailer is coming 28th September!

Recommended Posts

DGSimo

I feel like they just gave us the "September 28th" date instead of a trailer announcement because we're probably getting more than just a trailer. I personally think we'll get a trailer and artwork of the main characters with a brief description of who they are and where and when the story takes place. I don't think we'll get too much info cause they still have a lot of marketing to do and we're about 6 months away from spring.

Yeah, a trailer similar to "My name is John Marston" that finally introduces the characters while showcasing the world that ends with the release date. The newswire follows suit announcing the release and updated synopsis with new key art now that the protagonists are out of the shadows.

At least that's what I'm now thinking and hoping.

If there's no GI cover, then how are we going to know who the main characters are, and the premise of the story? It's not like the trailer is going to spell out every character. Are we going to get an article explaining everything like I'm thinking?

And this was only the second trailer produced and we knew about as much about the game then as we do now about RDR2.

Hell even the second GTAV trailer did the same thing AND we got a GI article at the same time, but without the magazine the trailer still conveyed all you needed to know and see at the time.

True, I'm mainly thinking back to GTAV. I feel like we didn't even know the main characters names until the GI cover finally came out. It's kind of hazy.

Well rest easy. This was the second GTAV trailer released at the same time the GI article was published.

https://youtu.be/Vzue74y7A84

Just imagine for a second if you watch it what if the GI article never existed at that time, what does the video tell you?

It does a pretty good job at introducing us to the 3 playable characters, the city, again some of the NPCs we'll interact with and more. All in a span of less than 2 minutes.

God, it's been awhile since I've seen that trailer. You just took me back to the hype of it coming out.

This Thursday is going to be crazy! :colgate::pp

Yup! I just wanted to point out how informative a second trailer could be is all. :)

We might even be getting ahead of ourselves and might not even get something as substantial as a trailer but we'll see.

LOL

All the negative tweets about R* on the teaser tweet are gone now: twitter.com/RockstarGames

The innocuous tweets joking about microtransactions and everything terrible about GTAO carrying over to RDR2O? Yep...They're gone for me

Something in my gut tells me it's just one playable character.

Probably just something I ate. :pp

It'll be interesting to see how they handle character switching this time. I feel like the satellite view transition from character to character doesn't fit the wild west. But who knows, maybe it'll be exactly the same.

They could point the camera up to the sky, I guess. And for fast travel do the same but add a timelapse into it.

I'm not the only who's saying this, but I think it's pretty much given that it's a trailer with the static picture being shown in a video player on Rockstargames.com.

I bet its three protags... A gang member, a lawman and a Native American. So they can show the story from all angles. That would create a lot of material to work with.

I'd love 3 main protags, and all of them being foes with eachother, and the story culminating and dictated by your choices you made through the game.

I want something like this, but I don't think that's going to be the case.

R* f*ggot + all the evidence suggests that it's going to be several people who are all in the same gang, and that's boring to me. I want to experience different corners of the world so to speak. I kind of want seperate campaigns for each character and then their stories cross paths only occasionally and they're largely unaware of each other, similar to GTA IV.

It would mainly be a story trailer this time and a look at our protagonist(s). I think that multiple protagonists from Dutch's old gang would be a mainstream direction. Can the Roger Clark character, that we have been seeing everywhere, be the original leader of the gang? I don't know, but the screenshots give off a loner impression for that particular character. 4 days until we get our questions answered, hopefully!

That's a good point actually, it'd be hard to make work in a standalone game (ie not a game with 2 expansions like IV was) but it'd make those triple protag missions way more satisfying, I think.

That's what I've been hoping for. I mean, what would the point of playing a different character from the same gang be? They will be having the same aspirations and the game would seem to have borrowed a major influence form GTA5. I want R* to keep fresh every time. I wouldn't mind playing a character from the gang, but others shouldn't be affiliated. Give us different stories and perspectives to enjoy in that massive and atmospheric world!

Agree, this is what I wanted/expected from GTA V and was disappointed somewhat by how the characters all got funnelled down the same direction after starting off apart. Switching to Trevor for the first time coming of M and F, for example, was like switching over to a different game but near the end of the game the differences became pretty much arbitrary.

I'd love it if there were, say, three characters and each of them were confined to their own three separate parts of the map at first. You could switch freely between the characters but not cross over into other character's territory from the start. Eventually though, the narrative has you venture into the different territories and you get to experience these different parts of the world from a new perspective e.g. say if one was a Native American who you start with only on their tribe's land but eventually have to move over into 'white-man's' territory, which you have already seen from a white character's perspective but are now experiencing the same place as an "outsider". Same could work vice-versa. That would really be utilising the multiple-character system to it's full potential.

Brilliant Mr. Jabe... There has to be some truth to it if that leaked map is accurate. Maybe even 3 different endings to the game kind of like Fallout 4. Thatd be nice, that would have high replay value. Which TTWO may not like :/
