Coin
And still no PC beta even though it releases on all platforms at the same time. Bamco seriously scared of people complaining about their servers (yet again). Ivan1997GTA
Tech-Noir
To be honest I'd really love Broly as DLC. I'm sure they could make his size work as MvC, Street Fighter, Killer Instinct, etc all have big ass characters in them. Hulk, Abigail, and that big rock guy respectively. chronic lumbago
#XV discussion: I played both Xenoverse games. I played all the way through both games because I like dragon ball, but XV2 was a horrible example of a sequel. It's more like an update than a new game. The story is basically the exact same. The combat is playable and fun but rarely feels like true DB action. The RPG custom character aspects are what made me grab XV shortly after day 1. I traded it for a coupon later and grabbed an used XV2 copy. I won't be getting FighterZ at full price since I need Kingdom Come: Deliverance when it arrives in february. Like I said before, arcade/versus fighting games never click with me for a long time and I don't want to buy one at launch. I really doubt I'll stick around in multiplayer anyways. Tech-Noir
https://streamable.com/uolyx Her air level 3 Super can be seen here. Reminds me of Vega's Bloody High Claw from Street Fighter 4 or Spiderman's Maximum Spider. Also hilarious video. Really want to play as her and Yamcha since both weren't available in either beta. I want to play more Android 16 too since I got to play like three matches with him in the incredibly broken closed beta.

Tech-Noir
Yet another beta, the final one exclusive for Xbox One is supposedly live right now and will go on for 24 hours. This is cause the previous beta ended terribly on Xbox One with server issues and such. Wish they added more characters to try, but it's identical to the last beta set. Better than nothing. chronic lumbago
The reviews are great so far. I like that there's a decent arcade mode too, for those that aren't really interested in online. I'm waiting till reviews for Kingdome Come Deliverance drop and then decide which game to get.

Richard Power Colt
Played it a bunch on PC and it seems to be a good launch. Performance is good and I didn't notice any big server issues except for the fact that almost every lobby was full, I swear they had more northern europe lobbies in the PS4 beta. I didn't really look into it, but I heard you can create an offline lobby too.
Tech-Noir
I was in an offline lobby at midnight release. I haven't touched online matches, beating the story first for Android 21. Just started the final arc.
Richard Power Colt
Still playing the first arc of the campaign and man are there way too many tutorial fights. It's so unnecessary, because you can play those tutorials outside of the campaign as well. Even the non-tutorial fights are just against brain-dead AI. The AI doesn't learn to block until the end of the final arc. It's pretty ridiculous although I'm not complaining because it allowed me to power through the three acts ASAP to unlock Android 21. Richard Power Colt
That sounds pretty bad, you'd think there would be a hard mode or something.
Tech-Noir
Yeah and unfortunately in other single player modes, higher difficulty is just more BS. Rather than the AI being more effective at fighting, their damage and health is just boosted. It feels a lot more of an artificial difficulty spike rather than actual ones in other fighting games. I'm kinda bothered by it because that means I'm going to have to favor online fighters more, while like with MKX for example I spent 95% of the game playing by myself. Only had like 70 matches online. Richard Power Colt

Richard Power Colt
Anyone else having the "no rooms found" message when attempting ring battles with friends? For me it often says the room is full even when it clearly isn't. Not really sure what's causing it. Btw idk if many people are aware, but you can actually do 3v3 player ring matches where each player plays one character. They're pretty fun though there's often more lag than in 1v1. Tech-Noir

They're pretty fun though there's often more lag than in 1v1. 3v3 is pretty much all I play now, it's just way too much fun. I get a lot less salty about losing too because it feels way more goofy and nowhere as serious as 1v1s haha. I will complain though about partners who don't tag out when they're about to die and have the opportunity. I remember playing with this one Frieza who never tagged out a single time, and he had great combos so I assume he was just being incredibly overconfident or something. More people need to know about the 3v3, Ring Party Match lobbies that are all the way at the bottom of the lobby selection screens, cause those things are absolutely barren during certain times of day. chronic lumbago
I can't keep myself from buying this any longer. Kingdome Come will have to wait. I'm going to grab it tomorrow I think. It's a shame the servers aren't working too well but story mode and arcade will keep me going for a while, as I don't plan to rush it. Frok what I've seen, story mode is pretty good considering the conversations between the characters, even if the main plot and villain is lacking. I only saw glimpses of it in the angry joe review but it seems like it's a passionate game created by dragon ball fans, for dragon ball fans. The guys at the studio must have been working on their dream game. I'm willing to support it by paying full price for this game. Are you guys still enjoying it or would you rather recommend me to wait a while longer? Right now, I'm sold.
Richard Power Colt
The servers aren't that bad in my experience, but it seems like other people are having issues with it. The offline experience isn't all that great imo. Partially, because of the difficulty issues discussed earlier in this thread and also the campaign just has a very repetitive and simultaneously convoluted storyline. There are definitely some funny interactions between characters tho. Playing with other players is by far my favorite part of the game, but it can be frustrating to learn the game at first especially now that the game's been out for a while and a lot of the remaining players are really good at it. There is rank-based matchmaking, but it's not always accurate as some people spend a bunch of time in practice mode before they start climbing the ladder. If you want a good singleplayer game, Kingdom Come is probably a better choice.

Are you guys still enjoying it or would you rather recommend me to wait a while longer? Right now, I'm sold. The story sucks balls, don't let it fool you. The character interactions are nice, yes but the repetitive as hell gameplay is impossible to glaze over, beating up those dumb clones over and over again. Then all your progress from leveling up characters in the first and second arc is mostly thrown out the window as you're forced to play only certain pairs in the third arc. Arcade mode is kinda lame as Richard and I discussed earlier. I just beat the hard version of the Time Chamber and it's so friggin' bad. The AI wasn't skilled or fun to fight, they just land a level 3 super on you and one-hit kill you. It's a really bad way to make the game more challenging, because it's more frustrating than fun. Doing level 1 supers and taking like 3% of their life bar just absolutely diminishes the experience in my opinion, on top of them destroying your life bar. Also fighting the same pre-set teams OVER and OVER in arcade mode SUCKS too. Just another reason it's so goddamn boring. The servers have been pissing me off as of late. Takes forever to find a goddamn match, and when I do it's some dude with a McDonald's WiFi connection so I can't accept unless I want a horrible experience. Then when I find a match it's some super-dash spamming new kid so I beat him without any challenge. The most fun I've had is in party mode, the six player mode and even then it works 20% of the time. Either some dude's sh*t connection lags the match, or everyone has nice connections and the server pulls the plug, ending the match for no reason. Takes forever to get the matches even started sometimes because of the dumbass rings, where you're in the lobby/hub and have to just hope people walk over to you and join your ring. Rather than an instant matchmaking system like casual and ranked matches. If you're planning to play mostly offline, I wouldn't buy it yet unless you plan to play lots of individual versus matches against the AI. I really hope they update arcade and fix the servers. Because when you do get a good match online it's so much friggin' fun, especially in party mode. But they're so few and far between that I hop on the game for like 30 minutes, only experience terrible stuff and then switch to another game. I mean, it sounds like you're a pretty big DBZ fan, considering your sig and avatar as well. I was a giant fan, I do still have a passion for it but not as much as I used to. I have the feeling that you'll be able to gloss over a lot of things due to your love for the series, but I'd say take mine and Richard's opinions to the heart. The gameplay is fantastic, just the offline options suck, and online can get super frustrating. All I want is consistent, nice online gameplay to keep me happy. Edit: Just played a standard versus match against the AI, and set their strength to 100 (maximum). It's really a joke how bad the AI is. It's like you're facing some 5 year old button masher who has no idea what they're doing. So you really can't get a proper challenge out of the AI in any shape or form it seems. Richard Power Colt
The weird thing about the servers is that they seem to have gotten worse since launch. I was barely having any issues in the few days after launch, but the last time I played I did get several disconnections tho like I said before it wasn't as bad as I've heard from many others. I'm on PC in europe, dunno if it's worse on other platforms/regions. Edit: Also that obnoxious "room is full" message that I keep getting when trying to join ring matches is supposedly caused by having different steam download regions than the other players which is plain retarded and it needs to be fixed asap. Tech-Noir
The ring matches a lot of the time attempt to join, but then I get stuck in a long joining cycle for like 30 seconds, and then it just fails. I really despise them and wish I could just hop into party match lobbies, rather than have to walk my little avatar around trying to connect to a really ugly cluster of rings in the lobby. chronic lumbago
Thanks a lot guys. I've read what you have to say earlier and acknowledged that online is pretty much broken and there are different opinions regarding story. I still couldn't resist the tempation lol. I got the game today and am about to fire it up. I didn't intend to play exclusively offline, just finish the tutorials, the story, practice even more in arcade and then hop onto online, which will hopefully be better once I get around to it. It was either this or Kingdome Come but I haven't played one single versus 2.5D fighting game on the PS4 so far, it's been years since I truly got into a fighting game. What better way is there to reignite the fire than with Dragon Ball? I loved the gameplay in the beta and being a fanboy is also a major, if not the main reason why I bought this. I also have to admit, looking back at last year, I've gotten less picky and extremely forgiving when it comes to games. I enjoyed the hell out of NFS Payback and Shadow of War - problematic and controversial games that I've been sh*tting on before release. And yet, I really enjoyed them. That's why I can most likely forgive the flaws and am very confident that I won't regret it. Regarding KC: Deliverance, I simply have not enough time to get into a big RPG right now without sacrificing my gaming time for other games and pushing those into my backlog. I'm still excited for it, but it will have to wait. DBFZ seems like a great game to just hop back into any time for a few rounds of fighting, even after finishing the main singleplayer content. First thing I'm going to do is hop into arcade for a few rounds to get a feeling and head into online, just to see if it's playable. Richard Power Colt
DBZF is no doubt a fun fighting game. From some of your earlier posts I just got the impression that you're looking for a good singleplayer game and don't care about playing against others which is where the game mostly shines. chronic lumbago
I've changed my mind again Still got half a year of PS+ left, might as well use it for once. Like I said, I always complain and moan and then buy the game anyways. I've tried 4 matches so far, got my ass brutally kicked and lagged out on two of the matches. I fooled around on arcade too and had some fire local battles with my brother, trying out all the different characters. Haven't touched the story yet. When playing locally, it's incredible. I'm simply not ready for online yet, but no shame in that. Edited February 12, 2018 by fashion Tech-Noir
Tech-Noir
The amount of lag and disconnects online is really just becoming unbearable at this point. As much as I'd love to enjoy the party matches, they work well about 20% of the time. If the match isn't lagging, then it just straight up disconnects and disbands once you're done loading. I was in a near-populated party match lobby last night and I tried to get into a proper match for about 45 minutes to an hour before finally throwing in the towel, having not gotten a single match complete. They either shut down right away, or lagged incredibly hard until disconnecting. I tried multiple rings with multiple players as well. Then Casual matches are a complete gamble (not even bothering with ranked anymore until they fix this nonsense). I tell the game to prioritize people with blue-level connections, it only gives me green and even then the connection will be fluctuating red and yellow most of the time. Being thrown into lagfest matches where combos are dropped because of all the sudden lag spikes. Even when I got a match last night that didn't lag much against a balanced opponent, I was eager to rematch only for the game to disconnect me from the lobby, pulling me from the match.
