Kaiju Blue
The beta will be playable for everyone tomorrow. Right now, only preorderers have access. It starts tomorrow morning where I live. No better way to start the day lol. Nope, at least on XB1 you can play without a preorder!

chronic lumbago
I already downloaded the beta this morning but when I want to play the game, it says that I don't have the permission to play or something like that. I read online that the open PS4 beta officially starts at 8am gmt tomorrow. You can preload it but can't play until tomorrow. I don't think it works on PS4- but hey, at least you guys will probably have better matchmaking. It's notoriously bad on xbox right now.

chronic lumbago
It's f*cking unplayable. 1/5 times I can connect to the server, where I have to scroll down the damn ToS and PP, enter my name, only to be disconnected and thrown back to the beginning. Could you all kindly stop playing so that I can play? Richard Power Colt and Tech-Noir
Tech-Noir
Haha so they botched the current beta too? I'm honestly probably not going to give it a try at all to save myself the disappointment. I'll just wait for the full release.

chronic lumbago
I finally got to play it.. sort of. Just the incredibly easy trial battles against CPU because the servers are down. That's good enough for me. Gonna play some more now. I wanted to check out how this game looks and feels and the beta delivered it. Don't really care for online. It feels great so far. I played as Android 18, Kid Buu and Beerus as main characters and had just a glimpse of others since I can't figure out how to switch characters unless I button mash trigger buttons in the middle of the match. How does switching work? Nvm got it! I do enjoy it, but fighting games are games that I can never play for longer periods of time or daily. Rather something I casually jump on for a few matches. I don't think I will buy it at full price, despite being a massive DBZ fan. Edited January 14, 2018 by fashion
Richard Power Colt
Managed to get past the title screen again finally. Matchmaking right now and can't find a match. chronic lumbago
Waiting for 30 minutes to start a match. Screw it. Can the server go under maintenance already so that I can play against cpu? Iroquois
Definitely not looking forward to this. Pros: None Cons: everything. They went for a japanese manga feel to it...Major fail. Not everyone is into the whole manga hentai fan culture thing...I love DB, DBZ and GT, the budokai games but the new stuff like Xenoverse and DBS is just all off. I watch the new DBS coz i have to, and in japanese coz im not gonna wait years for the english version to catch up; but im really hating the jpn aspect. And yes, i know the shows and games are japanese.... The graphics are terrible, probably to cater to the whole manga comic book sort of thing...again. Not to mention, the graphics overlap during fights (it has the street fighter feel to it). I dont understand how ppl find that appealing. You cant see how the blasts and punches/kicks connect.... The game is not 3d. In budokai, with the game being 3d, the fights felt longer paced and more strategic. "Hmmm should i atk now or wait for opening?...Maybe if i sidestep, will he rush me?" It felt like chess. It took the power of intellect to determine the overall outcome of a match, and pure skill to succeed in the quick bouts. I feel like if i play this game, some player will just use a char that has the biggest blast graphics to obscure the screen so you cant see sh*t No transformations either?? Like MGS, GTA, Elder scrolls, DBFz are trying a new spin on the game and its pretty bad....
Static
That is by far the weirdest and most asinine critique of any game I ever read. And saying anything in the Budokai series is like chess makes me wonder if you actually played the games. And I'm not sure how it's "new spin" when just about ever dbz game before the Budokai series was in fact 2D. I said it had a chess element. Are you telling me that when you played Budokai, you and your friends just rushed into bursts fights and button smashed and hoped for the best?? Um...what about taking time to figure out your friends weaknesses(is bad on playing on other side of the screen)/characters weakspots? Or about taking time to be on the correct side of the character when coming in for an attack or for gathering Ki? I dunno but it sounds like you enjoy the extremely fast paced dragon rush aspect of the game only? Well, the other DB games were horrible, so horrible already that they needed a major overhaul. They were unplayable. If it aint broke, dont fix it. If it is, well, then fix it. The 2D is only ONE aspect. This isnt really a discussion btw us , its more of a nitpicking sort of thing. I didnt realize i was on the Dr.Phil show...I was just offering my input to the game. Let us focus on this as a whole, shall we? I dunno but it sounds like you enjoy the extremely fast paced dragon rush aspect of the game only? Because the rest of your post was kinda nonsensical, like you saying you don't like the "manga/hentai(not sure if you know what hentai actually is) aspect" of a game based on an anime that's based on a manga. And your point about the graphics being "terrible" simply because it's 2D is odd stance to take especially on a fighter whose source material is 2D. As far as your chess line goes, you didnt say it had chess like elements you said It felt like chess. And no obviously I didn't button mash as that wouldnt get you anywhere. But the Budokai series wasn't even good until 3 and just about everything released afterwards was sub-par imo. And I dont see how you could possibly tell me what I did and didn't like about any dbz game when I hadn't mentioned such. Also, everything you listed in defense of Budokai in your "chess-like" statement can be said for 90% of fighting games, regardless if they're 2D or 3D. chronic lumbago
So would you rather play this than this? Also, the english dub is confirmed. http://www.saiyanisland.com/2017/06/dragon-ball-fighterz-will-have-english-dub-voice-track/ I can't say much about the "chess"-like combat because I'm only a casual when it comes to fighting games. Idk. It's fun enough to me so I don't really care what those with a sharper eye for combat mechanics think. Didn't intend to sound rude or anything. It's by far the best looking DB game so far. Graphically, what more can you ask for? Edited January 16, 2018 by fashion Static

Budokai was fun and all, don't get me wrong, as I loved Tenkaichi 3 but there has literally never been a proper DBZ fighting game until now. All the rest are entirely goof n' spoof besides Fighter Z, which has hype and competitiveness displayed in the video above. I get what you're trying to say, but Budokai is in no way more strategic than DBFZ which was designed to cater to both casuals and the competitive fighting game scene. Budokai was a party game, just for messing around with friends, and obviously highly unbalanced and the like due to the developers not exactly caring for competitiveness, just fun. Iroquois
The fighting looks like lag to me. Like some framerate issue. Its the classic style, similar to streetfighter. It should be more fluid. Off topic but thr most fluid fighting game i can think of for an example is Tekken
Tech-Noir
Don't compare DBFZ to Tekken, dude. That's entirely comparing apples to oranges, as Tekken is on a 3D plane and is all about long combos that string into juggles, wall-game, chain-grabs, floor-game, parries, etc. Tekken is an entirely different animal which you can only compare to Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive. Both of which would be more "fluent" to your liking because they play similar, due to once again just the formula of the games and their 3D planes. Iroquois
Sigh....im not comparing it to tekken dude. I even said it was offtopic. All i wish is if they made the fluidity equal to the budokai games and not all stuttery..heck even xenoverse has budokai-level speed of fighting
Tech-Noir
Once again you're comparing 3D games with full-on 3D character models. Every anime fighter feels "laggy" but it isn't. I understand what you're feeling, but it's just the character models that are throwing you off because they're 2D. And your statement wasn't off-topic because you obviously expect this "fluidity" after playing all these 3D games. This game was made by Arc System Works who also made BlazBlue and Persona 4 Arena, which would also feel "laggy" to you but they're not. Since it's 2D models when a dude gets punched or hit, they repeat the same animation which is giving you this "laggy" view, rather than having a wide array of different animations such as if you played Mortal Kombat X, where it's 3D models on a 2D plane. Same with SFV. I'm sure SFII/III feels "laggy" to you compared to IV/V. 98 in 1 and Richard Power Colt

Tech-Noir
Technically a spoiler I guess? So going to throw it in spoiler tags, although I didn't care much myself and it's being posted everywhere. It's a leak regarding Android 21. So... Makes sense why she said people were looking delicious but I'm mildly butthurt that she isn't actually an Android, because the Androids are my favorite characters in DBZ. I'm really interested though as to how this makes any sense, but I guess the story will let us know, if a trailer doesn't first...?
