No. of embedded videos per post

Earlier when I was posting the trailers for the Arrowverse shows, I realised that the amount of videos that get embedded in a post is two and the rest are posted as links.

 

I feel like the limit is a bit short when posting multiple ones. 5 seems like a decent limit and I was wondering if the limit could be extended a bit.

It's mobile browsing limits that are the issue here....

 

I think there has to be a compromise in what is considered a fair limit and to avoid unnecessary downloads when mobile data can be so expensive.

 

I've hit a similar limit with the Caption Competition and discovered there's a restriction of 40 images per post. But to stop crazy download browsing, I've hidden them in packs of 10 behind spoilers tabs, it also cleans up the archives and makes them easier to read.

 

It may well be the hard coded limits of the software as well, not just mobile limits.

Thanks for demonstrating that one. Didn't know of the trick. I will try it and see. I originally posted 4 videos in my referenced post anyway.

I'm not really sure if this has anything to do with mobile as I was browsing on a PC at that very particular time. The 40 images restriction was even lower from what I remember. It was increased a while back.

I was referring to a mobile browser in general, so for anyone else connecting on a mobile browser, not you personally.

Completely disagree that the limit should be increased. I really dislike that they embed automatically at all. Apart from people on mobile data, videos lag up the browser like hell when they have to load. It's ten thousand times worse if it's a thread that is for posting videos only. I don't even enter those threads for that reason. Videos should be links only unless you manually embed them.

Going to bump this up so that the other admins can look at this.

 

@Andreaz1: I've never faced any lags when browsing threads with embedded videos, even the "What are you listening to?" thread. And I browse mostly on mobile data. Not sure why it's such a complaint unless you have a really primitive browser or laggy, old device.

There's no need for anyone to look at this. All that you need to do is enclose any subsequent videos beyond the second in YouTube tags, in this manner:

Or

 

 

[youtube=Video URL goes here]

Placing limits on the numbers of images or videos that are automatically rendered per post is eminently sensible.
