The best thing is store robbing(I love robbing jewellery stores with my single bodyguard).

You make money when you finish the hotring race in the podium whereas you don't earn anything with the first place in San Andreas and the game treats you like a loser if you finish in the second or third rank.

Melee weaponry, vehicle handling (although SA's ain't bad), talk radio (VCPR is best talk radio ever), wanted system (spike strips and Cheetah Cops are nice)

San Andreas is such a great game but it lacks of some Vice City features (or they went unused in game's code or game's files, who knows) as police spikes when you're in the fourth wanted level, the $50 good citizen bonus, the Vicefree bus line it is funny and a good way to get a little bit of money ($5 per passenger), the Squalo has an spoiler while in SA don't, also you can see the exterior from interiors as the Diaz Mansion or the Ocean Beach Hotel. Anyway this doesn't makes San Andreas bad but I would have liked to see that stuff there.

This theme should be called things GTA 3, VC, LCS & VCS Did better than San Andreas: Anyway heres my opinion.

Ambient sounds like GTA 3 Restaurants, Buildings and the Cinemas of Portland.

More harder cops. I Think the GTA SA IA of the cops and gangs or enemy,s its so ridicolous easy.

More Vehicle sub missions like the Firetruck Rampage in LCS or the Pizzaboy from VC.

3 & VC Color pallete textures, the darkers colors is great in my opinion.

GTA 3 Gore effect (Mutilate people parts with weapons).

GTA 3 & VC Death Animations.

The sound effects, I prefer the other run 3 & happy wheels.

CJ is not a Badass, CJ everytime stand in the Sweets shadow and for everything cry incluiding for saving is own brother.

Too ridiculous Missions and Off Topic Missions on San Andreas (aka relleno)

Short memorable characters in San Andreas

Make Skins option like in GTA 3 and Vice City.

Too Much Planes only for the player can be used and only you use 5.

*If i Remember other thing I Edit this Reply

Fair point, but the thing is Vice City and San Andreas are both the most loved 3D universe games so I thought we could try see what everyone likes about Vice City which has less features but is almost equally liked as much as San Andreas. :bbq::bbq::bbq:

-Better Draw Distance

-Unlimited sprinting when tapping sprint button

-Reverse lights on vehicles

-Reverse beeping sound in big vehicles

-You can hear the engine of large vehicles better

-Better car damage

-Better vehicle camera

-You can choose your own car in races

-The hood scoop on the Phoenix moves

-The escalators can move the player

-Better death animations

-Better gun sounds

-It has a M60 and automatic sniper rifle which are both very useful

-Running over peds doesn't stop the car

-Interiors match the exterior

-You can view the exterior from the interior (like the window from the hotel)

-The police can enter some interiors

-Driving vehicles in some interiors (Ex. Mall & Mansion)

-Most small interiors don't need loading screens (Ex. Restaurants & Pharmacies)

-You can sprint in any interior. It's annoying & boring to be forced to jog slowly in large interiors like Mad Doggs mansion and Woozie Casino.

-Ability to rob stores

-Changing clothes immediately

-Better rain

-Blood splatters on screen

-Shooting the Rhino cannon backwards (Without the camera facing the front of the Rhino)

-Punching the criminal being chased by a cop without receiving a wanted level

-Police Spikes

-No Hunger system

-No need to worry about losing territory

-Don't need to learn any moves to kick

-Pizzaboy side missions

-Bus roleplaying

-RC races

-Assassination Missions

-Better Bloodring side mission (No stupid guns and your opponents have a Bloodring Banger)

-Hotring Race has a pitstop

-Gangs have unique vehicles

-Jumping off the Packer ramp with a car

-Unlike the Hotknife, The Cuban Hermes shoots the fire sideways. The Hotknife shoots nitro backwards when it should be sideways

-Single player rampage missions

-Police uniform let's you enter restricted areas

-Recruited gangs have better aim

-NPC in general have better AI

-You can enter interiors during phone calls

-Police Maverick sounds more intimidating (pilot voice and helicopter sound)

-Helicopter handles better

-Police Cheetah. It is very useful for Vigilante missions because it's fast and it can be repaired

-The police dispatcher tells you where the criminal was last located in Vigilante missions

-Adrenaline pills

-Chalk Outline

-You can drop weapons on the golf club & airport

- You can continue firefighter missions after level 12

-Enterable lighthouse

-The wind blows the newspaper

-No Wanted level stars when entering the next island early

-Cheat codes that allow you to play as other people

-No annoying menu sounds

-Better pacing. In GTA SA you're forced to do so many boring things to complete the story. I had to swim around just to increase my lung capacity for a mission. Then I was forced to complete all the pilot school missions. Then I had to do those repetitive gang wars before doing the final mission. If you want to complete the other missions that aren't necessary to get the last mission, you have to do driving school and Zero missions. VC wasn't perfect since you had to do property missions to get the last mission, but it was way better than SA.

-Better properties

-Better soundtrack

-Better atmosphere

-Better story

Another great feature of Vice city (and also in LibertyCityStories) is that the ability to ride taxi as a passenger which drives you to the point after you fail a mission(by wanted/busted)

It saves a lot of time.

Don't know why they cut this feature from San Andreas, where it would have been more useful due to huge map.

You can buy melee weps in hardware stores, apart from being more variety.

But in SA if you have tried the mission once you can skip the trip pressing right, so comparing to VC you end up with similar features and time saving after all.

Damageable front fenders in most cars. In fact, all games of the 3D era minus SA had this. In San Andreas the fenders never took any physical damage, just the headlights broke separately from each other.

6. Good citizen bonus.

Yeah I hated how they'd come out of nowhere and slam into you. Also sometimes If you so much as graze against a car in SA, they'd relentlessly come after you and keep slamming your vehicle even if you exit the vehicle. I don't know why they designed that, VC didn't have anything like that so that's one thing it did better

Can still buy properties in San Andreas, but I'd argue the properties in Vice City are more varied and memorable. You have a strip club, night club, porn studio, showroom, boat yard, print works etc. I don't even remember most of the properties in San Andreas.

San Andreas has the upperhand being able to buy more safehouses, but then again most of them are the same copy & paste interiors repeated over and over again anyway. Vice City kept it simple with save points and garage space.

I only bought them in San Andreas because the game didn't have any other way to save outside of saving at the safehouses and them being scattered all over the map, but that was it really.  I never spent any time in them because they were the same few interiors just recycled.

Although it's just a bonus the ability to take money by destroying the parking meters is entertaining and matches Tommy's badass personality.

The ability to sell ice-cream in the streets is entertaining, it feels a bit like an agreable summer job even if I know it's indeed a drug-traffic.

I wonder why the other episodes don't offer this feature.

VC is just more cohesive. There aren't many "filler" missions, most missions are done because Tommy wants to take over the city and expand his organization. There is a real goal which makes the story more engaging.

SA while fun completely loses focus after the first arc, it's all over the place and many missions and whole story arcs are just random.

CJ is also a bitch compared to Tommy who was threatening and a badass & didn't take sh*t from anyone.

Agreed so much. Though I feel that Diaz is killed off way too quick I do like that the missions have an actual bearing and aren't just an excuse to have a big explosion or to turn Tommy into a rent spy/ secret agent.

Except it really doesn't, since you have to go and buy some guns/armor before reattempting the mission anyway.

  • Tommy Vercetti > Carl Johnson. (though Frank Tenpenny > Sonny Forelli, IMO)
  • 80's > 90's.
  • As the story progresses, Tommy eventually becomes in charge as the boss. On the other hand, while Carl gets to own properties and gains more power, it mostly feels forced, and he doesn't seem really interested in what he becomes.
  • Vice City Bikers > San Andreas Bikers. (Vice City Bikers were the reason I really loved bikers in GTA. Some of San Andreas Bikers look a little better, though.)
  • Vice City feels more alive than San Andreas; aside from the higher number of NPCs, you can see some holding shopping bags. Not to mention the floating news papers and tree leaves in the streets. Also, I'd take Vice City's urban and beach ambiences over San Andreas' gun shot ambience any day.
  • Variety of death animations, depending on the shot's location.
  • Better gun sounds.
  • Better bike sounds.
  • Better helicopter sounds.
  • Gore.
  • Shooting is more satisfying in VC than in SA.
  • Better guns; yeah, GTA San Andreas has a Silenced 9mm, Country Rifle and a Heat-Seeking Rocket Launcher, but on the other hand, GTA Vice City got a full-sized Uzi, Combat Sniper and M60.
  • Better melee weapons; I'd take the Machete, Meat Cleaver and Hammer over the Cane, Dildos and Flowers any day.
  • Hardware stores.
  • Better rampages; they aren't co-op-based like in SA, and anyway, they're available on the PC version, which can't be said about SA. In addition, VC' rampages are more engaging than SA's nonetheless, since you're required to kill members of a specific gang, not random pedestrians.
  • Ammu-Nation is early unlocked.
  • Better interior system.
  • Ambulance has a unique siren sound.
  • The ability to rob stores.
  • Gang unique vehicles.
  • Taxi rides after failing missions.
  • Sprinting in interiors.
  • "$50 Good Citizen Bonus!"
  • Better wanted system; spikes and Vice Squad.
  • Pickup glow lights for weapons and items.
    • Most of these aspects were available in every title of the 3D era but San Andreas.

While I still prefer GTA San Andreas and its story, I gotta admit that it feels the least 'GTA-ish' of the 3D era; higher number of filler storyline missions, a ton of civilized side-missions, Ammu-Nation unlocks by the end of the first chapter, the addition of the jetpack and parachute, recycled interiors making up for a ton of safehouses, RPG stats, and so on.

Nonetheless, I still have a soft spot on Vice City. Probably because it was the first GTA title I played, or maybe due to the 80's theme, not so sure.
