Things GTA Vice City did better than GTA San Andreas

Recommended Posts

Evil empire

You can't do rampages in San Andreas

The dirtring pays up to 50.000$ against a maximum 6.100$ in San Andreas.

The difficulty is much better dosed than in San Andreas, only Dildo dodo leaves me a bad memory whereas a lot of missions became nightmares in San Andreas.

Driving in Vice City is the best, much like GTA3 with handling.

When I played SA the first time I noticed the cars were slower than the other two games. San Andreas has some pretty cool features, and it's a pity 95% of these features didnt make it to the HD GTAs...

I could only imagine Vice City revamped with a few SA features like swimming, and a VCS jetski. That's probably the only downside.

I wonder when Rockstar is going to remake that town after all.

Better storyline, better soundtrack and better atmosphere.

Tommy atleast feels like a king pin. CJ on the other hand feels like a bitch even when he owns large quantities of business.

Another way to put it I feel like Im the boss, the man etc as Tommy.

-Better interiors (SA had same design for all interiors)and no animation before entering a building

-RC and Rampage missions

-Better weapon sounds. Gta sa M4,Ak47,Pistol had almost same sounds.

-Better protagonist.

Yes I do like CJ but he gets outshined by other side characters(Smoke,Tenpanny,Catalina).

While in VC Tommy is the ultimate hero of the game.

-Better graphics.

San Andreas had a weird yellowish atmosphere everywhere.

Gta Vc on the other hand had colourful atmosphere with neon signboards and lighted buildings.

-The game doesn't choose your car instead of you when you compete in a race.

-These open doors are more immersion-friendly than the San Andreas yellow cone to show the enterable interiors.

-The Ocean drive hotel suite is much better made than those you have in San Andreas. The fact you enter the hall before going in your room is much more immersion-friendly. The colors, the lights make the hotel a way more charming place than the San Andreas hotel rooms.

Ability to pickup a phonecalls inside interior, even tho Tommy's phone is outdated than CJ's phone which is Tommy's phone is a SAT phone.

Vice city feels more alive

More soul

Less boring filler missions

Interiors have more personality

No empty minigames

Doesn't take tommy 30 f***ing seconds to change his outfit

Less empty land in map

More detailed, less dull environment

-More badass missions.

-Tommy doesn't take 5,000 years just to change clothing.

-You can enter interiors without that dumb animation.

-The ending felt more action-packed than EOTL.

-It teaches you something about having a heart and being nice to people. (at least imo). San Andreas on the other hand is a guide on how to be big pussy. LOL

-Tommy had better quotes and better scripting.

-The gun sounds don't sound like it was captured when someone was using a hammer. (just listen to the AK47 and M4 sounds)

-Clothing looked more respectful. (Trust me, you can easily make CJ look tacky as hell)

-The city isn't empty like SA maps. (Los Santos wasn't really that empty but the others, San Fierro, Las Venturas, and The Countryside felt like big empty chunks of land)

-In Conclusion, No unnecessary RPG sh*t. EDIT: I hope this doesn't sound like i'm trying to diss San Andreas. I really do love the game but there are some stuff that i have problems with it.

Tbf The beaches in Vice City was a giant waste of space and there was no activity there(there was gym and race in sa)

The rest I agree with

The scenario is more self-explanatory, I mean Rockstar didn't need to release an introduction video to explain the why-of-the-how (despite its shadow zones I prefer San Andreas' story however).

- Better protagonist. Tommy is a badass and very memorable. CJ is an inconsistent bitch

- Quality over quantity. Its only focused on one city but is better off for it. VC has more life than any SA city (but LS comes close). It doesn't have any unnecessary useless features (like the gym and in general customizing CJ to that extent, this isn't a freaking RPG).

- Better story. The story stays focused. Its about Tommy taking over the city and its satisfying. SA changes its story every city and is an inconsistent mess with lots of bs filler.

- Better soundtrack. 80's classics over 90's any day.
- Better atmosphere. SA has a unique atmosphere in its first arc but then it just feels random. VC's 80's atmosphere is very immersive

By the end of GTA:VC I felt like a powerful unstoppable kingpin who grabbed an entire city by the balls and made it my bitch

At the end of GTA:SA I feel indifferent.

This probably has more to do with that Tommy wanted to take over the city out of his own free will. CJ never felt like he wanted to be a powerful criminal figure from the beginning only that his situation started to change.

Tommy just feels so much more convincing as a powerful kingpin because that's where he always wanted to be.

GTA VC has better weapons and shooting mechanics. The sounds of the guns, the damage they do and the gore makes you feel like you actually have real weapons. In GTA SA weapons feel so weak and boring,,it's like shooting some nerf guns, not actually weapons.

Agree, GTA IV and VC have the best gun sounds. SA and V's were weak in comparison

Vice City has an airport terminal interior and a mall to explore. Also the Malibu Club and Pole Position Club are way better than all the clubs in San Andreas hands down.

Definitely agree. That MP5 sound is such an eargasm.

my opinion

-Tommy ofc was a bold character. Honestly his anger makes me feel weak and small. On the other hand CJ felt like a random guy whose not that bold

-vehicle physics were better in SA

-Although SA featured much more graphic features like shadow,Antialiasting etc... VC looked and still looks better than SA

-That feeling when you play a game you've never seen before lasted a bit longer on VC

-The Storyline of VC was bit straightforward to me.The SA storyline had a different meaning and was immersive.IF you paid attention. Eg: Sonny stayed as the antagonist from the beginning. Big Smoke was actually loyal and he was forceed to betray CJ and Sweet. Watch this if you dont get it

-2 number 9's no explanation needed XD

-in VC you could shoot forward when reversing a 2 wheeler. This was not seen in SA.You would just trigger a weird animation glitch.

-the weapon sounds were impressive in VC, although some of them made no sense.Like the silenced sound for the Mac smg, which had no silencer al all

-the world collisions were better in SA

-Jetpack was unique to SA

-you could dance in SA while you could only stare or kill the dancers in VC

-there were many features in SA that VC did not have

-The map was bigger in SA.Im not saying Vice City is sh*t.Both games give me different feels.

overall, I like both games a lot

EDIT:Forgot to mention this-

- The SA engine was one of the best in the renderware series. It was flexible and it is a modders playground.Although i feel it is unfair to say because the timeline of release of these games were different.

-I heard some people say VC clothing is better. It felt more enclosed to me.While in SA you could explore and make some good looking or some sh*tty-ass combinations

ive always found the IV sounds Annoying.VC's sounds were awesome but IV sounds were too metallic to be good.

Tommy never buries someone alive just because they call his relatives a bitch (when she did dress like a bitch)

She is, we should add a mission after end of the line, that goes like this:

- The female dog is waiting in sweet's car

- CJ is walking with sweet toward the car

- CJ trips and falls and drops his gun

- The gun goes off and hits the gas tank

- The female dog is fried

- Sweet gets mad and yells: "CJ you idiot you did it again, I won't wait for you to kill me next, I'm taking you out now!"

- Pulls his gun to shoot CJ, but CJ shoots him first in the face.

- CJ Flees the grove street and it remains locked with yellow tape forever

What about the cover system? In VC, you can crouch behind cars or object, and when you fire TV (Haha! his name is TV) gets up and fires above the cover.
