Flachbau
Week of August 27th - September 2nd Welcome to the twenty-fifth issue of the GTAForums Weekly newsletter! GTAF Staff have rolled out a new sub-forum in conjunction with the release of the new GTA Online DLC, "Smuggler's Run". The sub-forum shares the same name as the DLC, and has replaced the older Gunrunning sub-forum. Members are encouraged to discuss, share their experiences, and even share their experiences regarding the new DLC throughout many of the topics. It's already a very active area in the GTA Online community, so don't be afraid to join in on the fun. Besides the new sub-forum, there isn't much else to discuss. @uNi posted a topic showcasing some of @Zoobz' Snapmatic shots. If you can recall, Zoobz recently won Season 2 of the GTAF Snap Battle. The winner of each season gets their own "showcase" topic posted in the News sub-forum. Then, of course, we've got Issue 19 of Customs, Cruisers, and Customs lined up. @V4S discusses a new giveaway, everything about the new Smuggler's Run DLC, and as usual, shows us many great Snaps from around the community. GTAForums currently has a total of 15,027,014 total posts (+19,309 from last week) and 714,617 total members (+668 from last week) at the time this is being posted. Welcome to the twenty-fifth week of Rockstar Central! I’m your host, @Spider-Vice, and we’ll be highlighting this week’s happenings in the Rockstar Universe. GTA Online Smuggler’s Run, the anticipated aircraft-focused DLC that Rockstar formally announced last week has finally been released! Criminals of Los Santos will now be able to own their own hangar, where they can run the latest iteration of their smuggling business, own and store their personal aircraft and even modify them! As is obvious, this new DLC has introduced new aircraft and even land vehicles, and the elusive Hunter as well! Airplanes very reminiscent of World War 2 airplanes now sport several types of bombs, such as missiles and even carpet bombs so you can completely annihilate your target! The Buckingham Alpha Z1, the LF-22 Starling, the Mammoth Tula, the Nagasaki Havok, the Nagasaki Ultralight (yes, an ultralight in GTA Online!), the V-65 Molotok, the Western Rogue and the Hunter are the brand new aircraft included in the DLC. Rockstar didn’t even mention the last one in their Newswire article... They thought it would be a surprise. huh? A new adversary mode has also been announced - Motor Wars! Motor Wars, is, quite frankly, just like PUBG within the world of San Andreas. Players parachute from an airplane, and grab weapons and vehicles all they can to eliminate the other team, while the play area decreases over time. The new DLC has obviously brought brand new clothing as well, so you can smuggle product in style. This week includes a few new bonuses, to celebrate the release of Smuggler’s Run! There is a 25% discount on the Anti-Aircraft Trailer, the Karin Technical, the HVY Insurgent Pick-up, the Armoured Boxville and the BF Raptor. The time trial for this week is “Casino”, and the Premium Race is “Gauntlet”. Rockstar are also running a sweepstakes and a Snapmatic contest for Smuggler’s Run, and you can find info about them by clicking the respective event! Agent Agent, as everyone knows, is Rockstar’s dormant Cold War era project. A game supposedly to be about spies and espionage in general but nothing much was ever known of it other than an announcement. Last week, @GTAFanClub, who was also responsible for revealing Bully 2 art, finally got access to the elusive Agent concept arts, revealing an alpine scenario in Austria, matching references found within the RAGE engine’s internals in Max Payne 3 and GTA V! The art can be seen here. Right next to it is another finding by @kiveress which includes concept art of characters for Agent! On the following posts, two of which by me, there is some proof on how Rockstar has left some content in the RAGE engine’s internals, and more recently, as I found out earlier today at the time of writing, in Max Payne 3. Snowy trees, “Alpine” textures, and a lot of other things. Files that seem to be from 2009 and are most definitely from Agent! It’s a shame that Rockstar seemed to have left the project slip into the Vapourware status. Maybe a remaster could be in order even if they had to mess with last generation assets, because it sure looked like a very promising game! Welcome to the third edition of Get Modified, I'm your host, @Ash_735, and boy do we have a treasure trove of information for you to read this week! As most of you are already aware, Rockstar have recently released the "Smuggler's Run" update for Grand Theft Auto Online, which means modding script support has to be updated but don't worry, it's being worked on and Script Hook V will be back shortly. The big news recently however is that right here on GTAForums, we have someone who got hold of a PS3TOOL (Devkit) that used to be in service at Rockstar North. Now, what's so good about that you might be asking? Well, we have collaborated with @CarsonGT and have verified that it is indeed legit and so far a QA build of Grand Theft Auto V dated from June 2013 has been partially recovered. We've been able to dive into the files as they are being brought back, which means we're finding all sorts of information about the game and how it was in this close to release state. For now we mainly have audio information and some GUI textures to look at and since those who own this are still hard at work recovering the builds we can perhaps expect models later on. We do have further confirmation of cut music as well as early versions of Radio Stations such as FlyLo FM, SoulWax FM and WorldWide FM which include alternate mixes and cut/placeholder music. WorldWide FM for example had a 30 minute placeholder mix of Giles Peterson's show, featuring the following playlist: " " by The Funkees " " by Natalie Duncan " " by Joe " " by The Invisible " " by Lewis Taylor " " by Alice Russell Where as SoulWax FM features an alternate mix of the final station with a few extra songs like: " " by Daniel Avery We'll be sure to keep you updated as more juicy information is revealed. Bringing it back to the "Smuggler's Run" update we're pleased to see that many mods have quickly been updated to ensure quick compatibility. One mod that's worth mentioning is the amazing VisualV by @_CP_ & @robi29, a project that's so good it was stolen and used as apart of GTA5 Redux by Josh Romito! This update brings a few bug fixes as well as adding in additional clouds from Red Dead Redemption to give an extra bit of variety to the games already reworked weather system. Possibly one of the best modifications to try for first time GTAV modders on PC. Finally, we have a mod which puts leftover beta content to use. Anyone who has played Red Dead Redemption will remember a neat feature where if you were too close to a person and pulled the trigger then John Marston would perform an execution takedown animation. Something similar was found in the files for Grand Theft Auto V and now thanks to some scripting magic by @jedijosh920, this feature has been restored for players to try out. Simply titled Beta Takdowns, it does exactly what it says on the tin. NEWS Zoobz, winner of Snap Battle Season 2 Customs, Cruisers, and Customs: "Chocks Away!" The fifth track from the New York dance-punk act’s comeback record is a 9 minute-long, dark sounding masterpiece filled with haunting synths, catchy drum bits and weary vocals courtesy of frontman James Murphy.
