PS4 disc causing rendering issues?

I've had the PS4 version since it first came out and have played GTA Online a lot over the years.

However, since about a year ago I started having a very annoying rendering issue with my character's eyelids, making my character look like he was hit on the head with a barbed-wired bat in certain lighting. (as seen here:

)

After much back-and-forth between Rockstar and I, we still haven't found out what is causing it. And I have tried everything (settings, reinstall, character edits, different account,...) except trying a new disc or the digital copy.

But then someone told me rendering issues could start if the disc is getting worn out.

I checked my disc and it still looks brand new (I take good care of my discs). I cleaned it with a special cloth just to be sure, but I'm still having the same problem.

Could my issue be disc-related or am I getting that desperate to solve this? If it could be the root of my problem, I assume the digital version should solve this? (It's on sale now on PSN)

if you have a friend with ps4 try the disc at their place, when did this issue occur?

edit: read it, a year ago, double check at someones place, make a 2nd character with the same face features, see if their eyes are all f*cked up.

It started happening well over a year ago. I contacted R* multiple times to see if they're finally fixing it. After many lies of having it "fixed" they finally started admitting recently that they can't really figure out what's causing it.

I'd try a friend's disc, but my friends who also have GTAV live too far away. And they don't really play it anymore and have either uninstalled or sold their copy.

There are more cases of players having this issue, but they rarely report it because they believe it's just a minor issue.

try replicating your main characters face to a 2nd character see if the problem persists, if not then it's your characters appearance, and since you said you messed with his face and everything then unless you delete that character and remake it there's nothing you can do (consider this if your 2nd copy cat character doesn't have any issues), I am having similar issues with my character not looking the way it used to, it has to do with r* changing some sh*t in the face modeling or something along those lines, and it happened to me around the same time as you mention it, around bikers/sh*tport/excreport. Also if nothing else in the game has graphical glitches then it's safe to say it aint your game. Have you tried your character in director mode see how his eyes gouge?

Trust me, I have recreated my character probably over a hundred times. Same with the second character slot. Even on seperate PSN accounts. They all end up with the exact same problem no matter what settings I use.

Director/Editor Mode is where I actually first noticed my character's eyes were bulging out of his skull.

Do you have a physical copy or digital?

uhuh, well then it might be an issue with your game, I say might because I have some similar issues myself and I know it's not from faulty f*ckin game, its the way r* handles faces for some months/almost a year now. If you got the money to waste on a digital version then nothing's stopping you.

edit: actually let's do this, send me screenshots with all the features and sh*t in a PM, I'm on PC and I will try to recreate that for you and post back.

Do you have a physical or digital copy? It's on digital sale now for €30, but I don't feel like spending money if the end result might be the same.

Edit: Just saw you're on PC.

I highly doubt file integrity could cause an issue like this. It's almost definitely on Rockstar's end. It just seems like a bug.

I don't know if I should laugh or get angry that Rockstar still hasn't fixed it yet after more than a year of letting them know it still isn't fixed.

I would have probably slit my wrists with the disc while manically laughing. It's not a priority to them because it only effects you, and you've already bought the game so they've got their money to ejaculate on.

I'm not a smart computer/game person so I couldn't tell ya if it's the disc or Rockstar unfortunately, but I was wondering if maybe you had a local game store you could rent GTA for a day or so just to see? If you have already I apologize for wasting your time. Hope Rockstar can put on their big boy pants and figure it the f* out. I would keep pestering them personally.

It's gotten to the point where I open a new support ticket and link all previous tickets and videos and ask them if they have an update. Whenever I get the "press R1 and L1" or any other crap that doesn't work I point out they haven't even read my ticket and can shove their advice where the sun doesn't shine (After a year I just gave up on being polite when they clearly don't show any effort).

Then they finally do get someone to talk to who doesn't sh*t out textbook "try this or that", but it always ends up into "We'll forward this to the team."

My brother-in-law is going to reinstall the game today and see if he'll have the same problem. But with the installation time I'll probably only find out tomorrow.

It's just pressing those two buttons at the startup screen to reset the controller, sound, video settings. It doesn't work for my problem and only wastes my time with having to switch my settings back to how they were.

Then they start with blaming my internet connection. (LOL wut?)

And then tell me to reinstall the game (Did not work, obviously)

And then comes the part where they suggest to completely reset the PS4 from scratch. (Nope)

Support rarely ever reads what's written in the ticket. I once wrote down the list of things they'll suggest as they do every time and told them not to do that... only to see their reply is the following thing from that same list. I wonder why they even have a support team.
