Aslad Posted August 31, 2017 Share Posted August 31, 2017 I keep seeing people making mistakes when it comes to details about the new aircraft, such as what they're based off, what era they were from etc. So I thought I'd put a few of those to rest, and feel free to ask any questions about the new aircraft and I'll try to answer them, as I'm a self-confessed aviation nerd - The Rogue is not a WWII warbird. It's actually a modern plane, with the first prototype flying in 1986. If you want more info, see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer_EMB_314_Super_Tucano - The Nakota is NOT a Spitfire! It's designed after the North American P-51D Mustang. Completely different aircraft from a completely different country - The V-65 Molotok is NOT based off the F-86 Sabre. Most people recognise it's a MiG-17 now, but I've seen a couple of people referring to it as a Sabre. It's not. Honest. - The Starling is based off the Me-163 Komet, a late-WWII rocket-powered interceptor designed by the Germans. In real life, it only had a few minutes worth of fuel. This is why it was designed to be a glider. It would fly up to bomber altitude in extremely short amounts of time, launch spreads of unguided rockets and shoot bursts of 30mm cannon rounds at Allied bombers, before gliding back down to land. It used a retractable "skid" - literally a large ski - to land, as the wheels it took off with dropped off after it left the ground. - The Tula uses the VTOL wings off this: It's an experimental VTOL designed by NASA. The engine placement, wing strakes and shape all correspond to the Tula's. I think that's all for now. Feel free to ask questions!
