New Helmets - Toggle Thermal / Night Vision mid fight

As eveyone knows, traditional Night Vision can be toggled only via the Interaction menu. New helmets with Thermal/Night vision attachments kinda work in the same way.

However, there is a trick!

1) Equip your helmet

2) Open your interaction menu, enable the Thermal vision mode

3) Exit the interaction menu, and put your Visor Up (PC: F11 on keyboard by default) - you character will exit the thermal vision mode as well

Now, every time you need to use your advanced vision ability, just put your Visor Down and it will be enabled. Takes a second. Should be useful in any ground combat situation (both PvP and PvE).

You can't use Thermal/Night vision helmets in an aircraft (tested).

But I assume it can be used while riding an Oppressor, since it's possible to equip a helmet on a bike.

That's pretty useful, thanks! Although, does that stay after re-joining the game? Or do you have to repeat the process?

I did quit the game. Completely reloaded it and my thermal vision was still enabled.

However, my Visor was down at the moment of quitting, so not too sure what will happen if you move it Up first.

Where to buy it? I keep getting "This item is not compatible with your current outfit"

Edit

I got the helmet and I don't see any tyermal vision option.

You should press a key / button while highlighting the helmet in the interaction menu. Like I did in the video.

My keyboard settings are different.

Can you tell which setting it is? Still not working.

Typing on mobile.

Edit

Found it. It's spacebar for me.

If the Visor is glitched and you can't toggle it after a few times try to perform a combat roll. Should fix the issue

It's should be mentioned that Thermal vision works with Marksman rifle.

I noticed the thermal helmet can see through walls that are *close* to you. The thermal scope on the heavy sniper could only see through medium-far away walls. A wall close to you would block everything.

Very good feature that is almost better in every way then thermal scope. I say almost because it suffers from some limitations unfortunately:

-it needs to be manually activated each time you remove willingly or not the helmet, that mean entering a car or heli will remove it and you will need to access the menu again to activate it

-it's somewhat slow to put the visor up and down after having aimed in 1st person mode

Poor idea, on par with how bad an idea the BP helmet was too IMO. Is this one also bullet proof?

Ultimate noob tool. Throw on the helmet, enable the thermal vision and pew pew with the marksmans rifle while doing a little dance... Skill required to play GTA has reduced even more now.

btw when i bought it and tried it out it just stopped working

it seems bugged

however, i did just do an executive search with it. he really didn't expect a grenade to land on his little roof.

I just left GTA Online int o SP, and when joining online again, the function wasn`t enabled.

I had to go into the inventory again.

Does it work after outfit switch?

Nope, you have to reactivate it each time something remove it from you, like entering a car

You'd think this would be the default function and not require anything special be done!

Not sure what I am missing but can anyone tell me how these helmets actually work?

I put it on and nothing happens. I can toggle the goggles up and down and thats it.

And why 4 goggles? Can I choose between thermal and night vision while wearing them?

Also the hat I want is not showing up in interaction menu wtf.

You need to highlight the helmet in the interactive menu WHILE your visor is down and ttoggle it from there first.

Watch the beginning of the video.

FrugalDangerMan

Played a DM where I had thermal on my saved outfit but didn't use it because I couldn't navigate around the play field. Kept running into fences, crates, shipping containers etc or outing myself by trying to shoot the other team hiding behind walls with obviously no success.

However, once it was over and I exited to free roam, I was loaded into my car with thermal vision activated. Had to exit to turn it off.

That being said, someone on the other team was dressed in full camo and used thermal vison.

I'm an ok player but he trounced me 13 to 1 with an overall 25 to 1 for the match (I was the only one to get a kill on him).

I guess it works if you know how to use it.

Didn't help that 6 of the other 8 players I was teamed with quit. It was a 10 to 2 match by the end.

I couldn't move without being flanked and kept respawnimg with a f*cking pistol while they were all opening up on me with ARs and RPGs.

It was a god damn slaughter.

After yelling some choice slurs into a pillow I decided it would be better if I turned the game off and chilled with a beer and cigar on the back porch instead of letting the hatred pumping through my body take over. So I didn't get to enjoy driving with thermal on.

Oh well.

I think I got it. Got thermal working anyway. But I didnt have to do anything with the visor...I just equipped a random helmet and activated it. Then holding right on d-pad puts goggles up and down and thermal works when down.

But the helmet I want is not in the menu...should they all be there or only certain ones?

Is there anyway to toggle between thermal and night vision while the helmet is on?

No, you have to switch a helmet.

I play with FreeAim (mouse) and it's benefitial to me. I mostly use this for the I/E sourcing missions if my Tampa is unavailable atm.

As for PvP, you can prepare the headshot long before the opponent leaves cover. But it won't turn you into a PvP god on itself.
