j7n
Why is it that in all 3D GTAs we can commonly find textures that allow the camera to see the wrong object behind them. For example many trees in daytime have a blue outline of the sky, even though there should be other trees behind obscuring the sky. I'm certain that this is not a problem with my video configuration, because this artifact is visible on many screenshots and videos. What is the technical cause for this happening? Example. In Picture 1 the trees in the green rectangle look right, all others do not. In Picture 2 the chain link fence looks right, but when I step closer to it, I can see the road behind the bushes around each wire.
j7n
I have downloaded and installed the "SilentPatch" referenced to in other threads. This patch has an option of altering how transparent textures look, so I guess it is an expected flaw which, surprisingly, hasn't been discussed that often. Neither VC nor GTAIII silent patches contain fixes for the alpha channel. TwoPassRendering=1 removes the blue sky that appears around trees, but also chops large rectangles out of the texture where the blue used to be. I'm not sure if the picture is better with or without the patch. I guess the crushed textures are only visible up close whereas blue sky is always seen when driving past trees. No patch.
