Plane Reviews: Rogue

So I think I'll start a series where as I get some of the new planes I'll put out reviews, now this will be only for the new planes, no choppers and the ultralight is excluded.

I'll start with my newest acquisition, the Rogue.

Now I won't do the hard stats, as they will probably be able to be found from people who find that sort of thing, and you can always check the wiki once it's updated.

Price - 7/10

It's 1.6M without the discount, and 1.2M with the discount, and since you get the discount early on the supply runs it's no brainier to do them to buy it at the trade price.

1.2M is actually not bad for what you get. Out of the box its a fun plane to play around with and with it's two seats its a nice little plane to get around in. So while its not a amazing value I think it's probably the most reasonably priced out of all the planes so far.

Appearance - 8/10

Rockstar did a good job of bringing the T6 Texan II into the game, and it's almost identical so props to them. Now, the cockpit is identical to the Hydra's, and while I'm only going to dock it's score a bit, because while it's really just R* being lazy, it does fit the context since the T6 is a trainer.

Customization - 8/10

You get a primary color with all the different paints, and a secondary color with all the different paints, the primary is most of the plane and the secondary is small trim pieces and under the wings. So, its on par with normal vehicles for colors and such. You can also add a livery for a nice touch, and there is a decent amount to choose from.

Handling/Performance - 7/10

Now R* implemented this new thing where you can pick "your style" of handling and while I haven't tested them all, some are more expensive than others, which doesn't make sense because it's supposed to be a preference thing?

However I put the race handling on and it turns extremely fast, and can actually cause issues if you yank it in a turn. However it does make it hard to line up shots and bombs which can be frustrating, especially in R*'s simulated turbulence, however it can roll very fast so that's always a plus.

Performance is good, with the engine upgraded all the way it's pretty fast, I'll do some testing against some jets but I can climb straight up with no stalling until the skybox limit.

With no Jato assist or anything it actually takes awhile to get it off the ground, and if you aren't careful you can drag the tail against the ground. Landing can be a bit tricky since it functions like a jet where if you cut power it wants to go straight down. So as long as you land with power its good.

Armament/Protection - 7/10

For protection you can choose to put armor on it like you can with vehicles, up to 100%. And while it's still a plane and probably cant take massive hits, that armor has saved me a couple times where I would normally explode. Like being hit with shrapnel from exploded choppers, or explosions near you. It can't take much and your engine will smoke but it gives a lot more room. I'll do some more testing on how much damage it can take.

Secondly it has chaff (10 uses), flares (20 uses) and smoke of different colors. I put on flares and they work as intended, so its all good there.

As for weapons, it can get bombs, you have your different choices and I used cluster bombs which do the job, and you get a decent amount of them as well.

For guns it gets a regular MG or an explosive MG, however they are wing mounted, so they suffer greatly in accuracy, their range is also very short. I believe their fire rate is also lower than of the hydra/lazer.

As finally it gets the standard missiles/dumbfire missiles which if you don't know what they do at this point you might need to play the game.

Total Score: 37/50

Overall it's not a bad plane, its pretty quick and nimble, and having two seats is always nice to tow around your buddy for missions and such.

While its not perfect, and lacks in some departments I think this is going to be the most well rounded of all the planes unless the Vampire and P-51 look alike can bring something to the table at a reasonable cost.

For the price you pay you get something can multitask instead of being oriented towards one feature.

This plane is amazing. The cannons are a little off when aiming but that's its only downfall, it turns on a dime, has missiles, a cannon and bombs plus a lot of armour. Its also the cheapest. What more could you want? The only thing really bugging me about the rogue at the moment is I can't get the livery with the invasion bands on and the yellow and red checkered nose. There are a few other liveries I've seen other players with and they don't show up on mine. Does anyone know why this is?
