Making Contact Missions great again?

Boat in the Bay is still playable, no? Or am I thinking of Wet Work(ers)?

Boat in the Bay is long gone unfortunately. You probably were thinking of Wet Work.

The last time they added new actual contact missions was back in 2014, I believe, unless I'm wrong. Hit em' Up was one of them.

2014? That's a year before I started... Anyway, R* haven't been kind to contact missions at all. Nerfing their payouts, removing some fun ones and completely forgetting about them the instant SecuroServ became a thing... A change is way, way overdue.

How to make Contact missions great again.

- Give us more of them

- Cross link the missions, give rewards for doing certain missions in certain orders, using certain criteria in the mission completions.

- Make the pay worth the effort, you can either do it by time spent playing or by actual task required in the mission

- Make the AI work, terminators that know exactly where you are no matter weather or not they can see you does not make for a fun experience. Magi spawn Ai is crap as well. Give the AI spawns a fixed locations but randomise them each time the missions starts, that way it looks like a player who has planned the mission will take less fire and one that hasn't will take more.

- Limit vehicle access, either hard code it so you can only use actual non armoured vehicles or pay limit it, i.e you get 100% if you use a non armoured car, cut 25% for using a flying vehicle, cut 25% for using an armoured vehicle, cut 25% for using a weaponised vehicle. Players can still play the game as they want but they get punished for making it too easy... or f*ck me Rcokstar could try balancing the game.

The reality is to makes the contact missions great again would require Rcokstar to actually put some effort in to the task, the issue on top of that is that the contact missions are actually fun, they take place in an isolated location so you don't have to worry about your hard work being totalled by some wannbe tryhard griefer, most of the missions can be completed solo and very few of them have instant fail criteria (i.e a team mate dying) these are the reasons why they pay so low, as a task they are something I want to do but as a way of making money they suck hard, to put it simply contact missions are everything that Rcokstar don't want their players doing, they want you to have to do the same boring task over and over again (grinding), they want others to be able to f*ck with you and make your already boring grindfest even harder and if you somehow find a task that doesn't meet these criteria at least if someone in your team makes a mistake the opportunity to instant fail should be there, that's why almost everything else pays more it's meant to make players choose the boring, higher likely hood of failure tasks over the more fun and involved tasks.

They should also make it so that you cannot blow up other players' vehicles. I'm tired of people trolling, and I'm tired of accidentally blowing them up because some tool decided to leave his car out in the open. I got 4 months bad sports because of that sh*t.

My favourite bit of Rockstar trolling is that Factory Closure is one of the best-developed and better co-op experiences, with more defined roles and a sequence to follow, and a) it's the only one like that* & b) incredibly hard to find.

* The one with the parking lot assault is the other one, forget the name, but it's not as advanced.

You mean The Parking Garage? :p The Last Chopper Out of LS also technically has defined roles, but is only a 2-person job.

They're different missions. A Boat in the Bay had you stealing a boat from the very northern point of the map (north of Paleto Bay) and bring it to Sandy Shores. http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/A_Boat_in_the_Bay Wet Work(ers) has you stealing a boat from Paleto Cove (south of Paleto Bay) and taking it to the pier west of Grapeseed. http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Wet_Workers Similar, but definitely different missions.

Another annoying thing about missions is the random spawning of enemies. It's such a cop out. I hate killing enemies, moving forward tactically, only for a goon to spawn behind me and shoot me in the back. This is lazy programming, just in an effort to try and make the missions harder, when there are more logical ways they could do this. All enemies should be present on the map, and once killed, remain dead. No spawn trigger. Give some of them better weapons or even armour and helmets if they want to make some of them a bit tougher. The cars spawning ahead as well is annoying. Again, no. Have them ready at pre-designated locations, but not just teleporting all over the map. Once you outrun them, they remain behind you until they catch up if they manage to at all. If they don't, tough. Their loss and you benefit from being a good getaway driver.

I think its about time we got some actual new contacts too. Karen Daniels, Stretch, Dave Norton, Molly... and more. So much potential, yet Rockstar can't be bothered to do anything... let alone supply us with the actual creator. I'd f*cking pay for it!

Ah, I remember the good old days when we would play Coveted over and over. Everybody wanted to fly the helicopter. Life was so much simpler then.

I just want to be able to make a playlist of contact missions and permanently set my difficulty to hard. Folks who play on easy that are over 100+ are annoying as f*ck.

I think everyone wants more missions. We've been asking for them for years.

Stupid thing is, that rockstar don't seem to realise that they could make money from them.

Imagine twice a year there was a $20 mission pack released. Ten new missions in each pack. You could even release free dlc for them in the shape of vehicles and houses and such. People would still buy cards for that content but most of us would love new actual playable dlc.

Just give us the creator. Anybody could make those missions, they are really basic.

They even have the dev creator for races, and you are able to remove lamposts with it.

What the f*ck are they doing over there?

Yeah, the dev creators have the option to remove dynamic props that may be causing an obstruction. Anything from fences, to lamposts, to signs. Shame we aren't able to.

Contact mission creator is a must for Rockstar to release but knowing them, they might put some limitations in the creator menu that could restrict us from using excessively.

If they do ever implement a contact mission creator, they should allow us to choose between ''Rockstar created contact missions'' and ''User created contact missions''.

The Wandering Hunter

mission creator really would be great.

just have a sh*tload of npc helis guarding a base somewhere so you need armed vehicles rather than just sh*tstomping with them

Exactly. I just want more contact missions, but the ideal would be for us to get a creator for them. There would be plenty of stupid crap made, but plenty of good quality, creative efforts too.

Giving us the creator would get jaded players more interested again, draw back players who left the game, and R* get a load of new content for their game without having to pay anyone to create it.

And instead of an employee just dashing off a mission as quickly as possible, we would have people taking real time to carefully craft something.

Missions are too complicated to be 'created' imo, what with the scripting and whatnot. A user created mission would look a hell of a lot like a user created Capture.

If we got an actual "player" creator for Survivals, Missions, Vehicle Deathmatches (still confused why that wasn't given to us right away along with the other captures) and Parachuting. Simply program a way to auto-calculate how much money and RP you'd get rewarded based on how many enemies, what weapons they're using, if they're using helicopters, etcetera. They could even rip out some dev features like the door mechanism (which could cause breaching) but leave in a option to put keypads near unlocked doors (a la "If I Was a Richman") or give us a f*cking safe to put in for others to crack (Dry Docking), maybe even let us have some dev NPC features (FOV, hostile, friendly, objective ally, holstered weapons), be less restrictive about where I can place my Savage, etc. I could go on and on, but these features are desperately needed in a time of sh*tty forced public mode crap. I want to make a Contact Mission where we steal a secret Bio weapon from Humane Labs guarded by 20 MW troops armed with Carbine Rifles and 2 Buzzard ACs overhead, then get it to the Sandy Shores Airport and fly it out of the state in a Cuban 800 while being chased by Valkyrie MOD.0s. I want to make a Survival where you have to survive 10 waves of MW troops armed with very heavy weaponry (enemies start with Carbine, end with Combat MG MKII) in a hangar at LSIA fortified with props. I want to make a Parachuting job where you jump from a helicopter from the top of the game map and drop down into Paleto Cove (I'm not done yet, hold your horses), maybe even make a Vehicle DM, fully upgraded Nokitas versus fully upgraded Starflys, the possibilities would be literally endless if we had these menus.

I'd even like to see the squad car computer criminal records come back from GTA4, allowing you and up to 8 friends to put feet through doors to neutralize npc fugitives/crime bosses/corrupt police chiefs. Imagine you and your team shooting your way up through the Merryweather compound, IAA building, Humane Labs, Union Depo, FIB, or just in a methhead's trailer to prevent a rape murder with worthy reward allowances (not that associates pay BS).

They can earn a lot on lone wolves, I think. And I agree with OP that lone wolves should get better ways to earn cash. Lets not forget that lone wolves paid the same amount of money to play the game and should have all the same stuff available to them too. Imo, I think the best start for f*ckstar is to setup playertype servers. PVE for the more serious players, PVP for the pewpew kids/trolls/griefers and perhaps even RP servers for those who like that playstyle. Kinda like WoW.

Of course, I am fully aware that ‘s never gonna happen. It ‘s not f*ckstarks purpose to create a nice playable game for all gamers to enjoy. All they want is that big fat money dick up their asses.

I myself am one of those lone wolves who plays contact missions to avoid public sessions like the plague, because of the idiots playing in there. Eventhough they don’t pay out that much, combined with cashcow car sales, it still earns a decent fairly effortless dollar. My biggest gripe with the contact missions is probably that you always spawn a mile away from your vehicle when going back to freeroam. Why f*ckstar won’t respawn you back in your vehicle so you can drive off right away, I will never understand.

Ofher than that, for me the contact missions are fine. It ‘s the thing I do since I returned to the game after being gone from it for years. But, it would be nice if they paid out more, of course.
