Making Contact Missions great again?

I miss the days of FOS, FOS V2 and V3 made by Fun with the mission creator. Earning 100k per try.

And 10x more fun than any mission in the game!

Seriously, you had to use others cooperation and even needed air support to get that damn Field master and drive e to the objective.

Also, you could replay it and it had unlimited lives, it was perfect!

Also, wouldn't a deep and detailed mission creator extend the life of the game long after R* withdraw support for it with further DLC?

The Wandering Hunter

mission creator idea 1

oh no there are 100 npcs spread across lsia, some with homing launchers.

kill them all with your hunter

2

bunch of enemies on roofs across los santos to kill and then a helicopter to steal so you can't just go explosive mad

3

wipe out all the merrywether at their base, but they have tanks etc.

double payout over normal missions

requires rank 100, 1 armed ground vehicle, 1 armed air vehicle.

people would buy shark cards just to access them

see, it really isn't hard rockstar

I wouldnt want this idea in the hands of a squeaker or a tween douchebag because they would make another version of those sh*tty parkour , 100000x rp whatever trap jobs or stunters vs insurgents vs your mama jobs.Besides races rarely has the community ever created anything worth playing. It would suck.which is why you'd always disable other people's quick missions and play alone or with friends.

the existing mission creator would do just fine imo. It has all the tools to make many types of missions and options to write text messages or custom objectives so we can make any type of story to make it the way we want.

It's not a full editor but it's really simple to use already. I could see R* unlocking it when they're done updating the game but I doubt it would be unlocked before that.

No matter how many CEO/MC updates are shoved down our throats, none of them will ever replace contact missions for me. Playing missions with friends and crew is by far the most enjoyable aspect of GTA Online. #MakeContactMissionsGreatAgain!

What should be taken into account is the very different financial landscape of today's game. Items have been inflated, yet the pay for many things hasn't.

But ending this crap of penalising efficiency would make missions better earners all by itself.

That all said, it's what would happen IF R* were reasonable. But we know they aren't. They don't want players working together....unless the goal is to kill other players. I'm not kidding myself that we will see any such changes. I know T2's direction, the forced free mode PvP push. So does everyone who isn't blinded by adoration for R*, just as everyone knows what's behind it.

I would just love new content along these lines. The PvP just doesn't interest me nearly as much. I have a lot of ideas for missions though, things I would enjoy making & playing, that others would too. Like other creator modes, there would be plenty of infantile dross, but there would be real quality too. Stuff that would surpass the best of the missions R* came up with.

for me it's okay that fighty pvp takes place in free roam and i'm fluffy okay with new military toys for pew pew hihihi! i just feel like that many things need some balancing now... give more pve content for laid back fluffy penguins like myself! mission creator (have tons of sparkly ideas for creative missions in my penguin mind hihihi), more missions, maybe a free roam update with tuna and tuners which can be played in invite only... aaaaaah this game could be the ultimate game for everyone! but they do push pvp to much while doing nothing for pve. hihihi i'm throwing around with words like pvp and pve and don't know what they even mean like WHOOPSIES!!!

Or just add new ones? I'm bored to death of the current 100 or so ones, having played them to their absolute core.

Add new ones with payouts ranging between 15-20k. To be honest though, the fetch missions added with the last five big freeroam updates could technically be classified as contact missions, just in freeroam.

I hate playing in lobbies after EaOC came out anyway so in my eyes they added plenty of new contact mission-esque type jobs, just in freeroam.

R* doesn't care about the game if it doesn't give them money. No point, in their eyes.

I was thinking about all these new updates and you know, non of them have come close to the fun and immersion of hiests or ever the original set of contact missions. It's basically player co op will always be more fun then player vs players. Unfortunately this game has made it's choice and it wont ever being going back. But that's OK another developer will see the opportunity and build a good open world co op vs NPC game.

PS about the mission editor, timed mission payments were put in place just before the mission creator was released... but it was never released, Benz was sacked at around that time and the game went in another direction. But the payment issue is sorted.

There is a huge PvP playerbase they cater for though. They make more from that. It's good business sense to focus on that. Similar to races, the payout is poor but the prices high, they focus on that too.

PvE doesn't directly make them money, it wont increase the desire to get new toys etc. and it will give players a way to earn money. The shift in focus from this setup has been obvious and I suspect that is why it never come.

The Benz was pushed before Online went live if you count the sabbatical which was the beginning of it all. I doubt his involvement/absence is connected.

As for another dev to jump on the same genre of game, have you read about "Everywhere" that The Benz is working on?

A video game that simulates and fuses the real world with the virtual. Live your own stories as you live in ours.

Sounds like it could rival GTA (lawsuits pending).

Yeah it sounds good, I know he's got some of the old GTA guys with him so they should be able to get the right "feel" to the game. EA is also working on a similar game but that will probably be pay to play and a pile of crap. Well it might be great.. but the paying part will be crap :). Anyway who's playing Elite on PS4? people on facebook are telling me it's freakin awesome x 100 (I haven't played since the early pc beta)

I ain't a fan, but I did go 0-100 relatvitely quickly from contact missions. If they were even 2x $ forever, I'd never play another game mode or with anyone ever again.

Just played Wet Work today. Used to have 0 issues soloing if playing smart. Got killed while in a boat going full speed. Odd.

Experimented with a couple other Missions and it seems they really buffed the NPC's to a crazy degree. Explains how "2 NPC's on moving motorcycles" can gun down a fully armored guy in a moving boat.

100% ok on the challenge but the payouts?

Buff those as well. Shiny New Things are great but Contact Missions were coded into the game to start with and should get a Legacy Buff.

Sure remember playing Base Invaders over and over as tbe original Grind Money method.

Love the Contact Missions.

Great way to test out new vehicles and weapons without the pressure of Heists.

I can totally picture one of your missions with directions like

- drive to crunchy location

- kill all the non fluffy penguins

- collect the sparkly coke

- deliver it to pearly location

- ui ui ui mission complete

I'd probably give a like after every mission lol

Being able to use all the new Smuggler's Run vehicles in the same old contact missions has certainly made them great again, at least for me.

Even better with a friend in one too, you can plan bombing runs on them, or come up with a plan beforehand and follow it. Definitely makes it feel like a new experience.

I couldn't agree more, especially when we used the migs in The Los Santos Connection that was pretty fun and felt way different. I wish it was easier to hit stuff with the bombs though lol.

Another thing too I wanna add is, those new combats helmets with thermal goggles are great for finding out where the AI are hiding. Still, i'm hoping they release the mission creator. That would ultimately make Contact Missions great again in my opinion.

I just wish I could wear it in my helicopters - that'd be great for spotting people, increasing the distance you can see people at, stuff like that.

Oh you can use it in any vehicle but unfortunately you just need to glitch it to work. Helicopters for some reason, you need to time it when you enter it for it to work.

The real only way to make Contact Missions great again is to allow the community to create their own...

Or I buy out Rockstar completely

Edit: made this topic a while back that explains the contact mission creator - http://gtaforums.com/topic/880510-mission-creator-explained/

Yeah , i like that idea for online.

There is "Build a mission" for Sp ( best mod evar!)

Would be cool if it works like this mod.

I would buy a GIANT SQUID card that gave me access to 30+ new missions.

There, now you have a fiduciary duty to your shareholders under US law to deliver that value, you f*cks.

OTOH, it's been a year of rockstar delivering on very many very specific requests, so there's always hope.

If they can bring a Biker related DLC and the Hunter to GTAO, then they surely can release the mission and survival creators. Rockstar does pay attention to us to some degree. From what I observed, Rockstar seems to add in stuff that was wished for if they can bundle it with other sh*t. So if they ever do release the mission creator, they'll more than likely want to release it with other sh*t too.

Good post Ham.

Not going to happen OP, as I keep preaching - the macrotransaction business model is based on high inflation, high prices, low payouts, lots of grinding and copious amounts of frustration so you buy macrotransactions.
R* will NOT do anything to revisit legacy content. They don't care. In the here and now, the macrotransaction business model rules this roost and you can look forward to more mind numbing content that serves only to push you towards more macrotransactions.
It's not a game anymore, it's a tool to get are your credit card.
I would LOVE for PVE to get the rich treatement it deserves and the game to come alive again with more than high powered military wankery for the PEWPEWPEWPEW crowd. The reality is it's not going to happen. R* has their golden goose and the PVP players are part of the grand plan to f*ck up the money making for people trying to make money. So thus, you're being trolled by R* and R* is using PVP players by proxy to f*ck it up even more.
OP, you think like someone who cares about the game. R* and T2 care in only about the dollar signs. Thus, gameplay enhancements and evolution aren't going to happen. It'll be fetch and return in public lobbies with shiny new pixels from here on out. They just have to release sh*t to move cash cards under rehashed mechanics. The erect phallus masses will crow and wank with delight. The smart people will know the game is dead.
Gotta stop thinking like a gamer and instead like a greedy dev who wants the lemmings to keep serving up those debit cards.
Move on to better game.
This one is done, maybe even the franchise. Slayed by the macrotransaction greed. Terrible end.
Cheers.

Giving players an easy way of making money by themselves? I'm sure t2 investors would love that idea.

" high inflation, high prices, low payouts, lots of grinding and copious amounts of frustration"

Why does this remind me of real life so much, is this called capitalism?

I think C* is afraid of what a player can make to reap the most $$$.

>blow up this gas canister and cause a 15 minute domino effect of explosions killing a cluster of npcs at the end> ????> profit

Agree with TC! Contact Missions are my favourite thing in this game. I love finding different and unusual ways to complete them.

What they should do is give bonus payments on top of the usual mission payment to the players who actually complete the objectives. So for every mission target person you kill, every mission target vehicle you destroy etc, you get an extra $1000. It would force people to play the objective and discourage those who simply sit back and let everyone else do all the work, whilst still getting paid.

Plus, every month, they should have a double cash payment day just for Contact Missions.

I don't think this would be unreasonable at all. If R* actually valued its fan base, then it would do this.

Oh wait...

I miss doing contact missions. Chemical Extraction was fun as hell till they removed it. I would do more of them if they made the payout and rp better. Now I would do them again in a heartbeat if they made new missions or as White Shark suggested making them double rp and $$$ once a month.
