Making Contact Missions great again?

I started playing GTAO in March 2015, right after the Heists update. For a lone wolf, the best way to earn money back then was contact missions, paying about $15k on average and $23k (?) maximum.

So it stayed, until the Executives and Other Criminals update in December 2015; the update that introduced SecuroServ. And with SecuroServ came VIP work, a new way of grinding exclusive to millionaires that vastly outclassed and still outclasses contact missions. Since then, many CEO and Biker businesses have been released, the most notable one being I/E, which is as of now the best money earner for lone wolves.

Contact Missions have been left at

the exact same payouts from 2015 though. I believe it is time for a buff to contact missions; doubling the payouts would bring them over those of VIP work, but coupled with the fact that missions are longer and you have to go through the ordeal of changing lobbies in a P2P environment it would make for a nice balance. What do you guys think?

Giving players an easy way of making money by themselves? I'm sure t2 investors would love that idea.

The real only way to make Contact Missions great again is to allow the community to create their own...

Or I buy out Rockstar completely

Edit: made this topic a while back that explains the contact mission creator - http://gtaforums.com/topic/880510-mission-creator-explained/

I concur, buff the payout. Better yet, make a ton of new missions that payout well as the newer items are substantially more expensive.

The Wandering Hunter

mission creator idea 1

oh no there are 100 npcs spread across lsia, some with homing launchers.

kill them all with your hunter

2

bunch of enemies on roofs across los santos to kill and then a helicopter to steal so you can't just go explosive mad

3

wipe out all the merrywether at their base, but they have tanks etc.

double payout over normal missions

requires rank 100, 1 armed ground vehicle, 1 armed air vehicle.

people would buy shark cards just to access them

see, it really isn't hard rockstar

A mission creator, with AI improvements for patrolling guards and their cone of vision for stealth jobs, is my dream. Better still if they would let you use the character creator to create custom NPC actors to take part.

Jeez, the creator community would go f*cking nuts for something like this, it could be a real storytelling device.

Good post Ham.

Not going to happen OP, as I keep preaching - the macrotransaction business model is based on high inflation, high prices, low payouts, lots of grinding and copious amounts of frustration so you buy macrotransactions.
R* will NOT do anything to revisit legacy content. They don't care. In the here and now, the macrotransaction business model rules this roost and you can look forward to more mind numbing content that serves only to push you towards more macrotransactions.
It's not a game anymore, it's a tool to get are your credit card.
I would LOVE for PVE to get the rich treatement it deserves and the game to come alive again with more than high powered military wankery for the PEWPEWPEWPEW crowd. The reality is it's not going to happen. R* has their golden goose and the PVP players are part of the grand plan to f*ck up the money making for people trying to make money. So thus, you're being trolled by R* and R* is using PVP players by proxy to f*ck it up even more.
OP, you think like someone who cares about the game. R* and T2 care in only about the dollar signs. Thus, gameplay enhancements and evolution aren't going to happen. It'll be fetch and return in public lobbies with shiny new pixels from here on out. They just have to release sh*t to move cash cards under rehashed mechanics. The erect phallus masses will crow and wank with delight. The smart people will know the game is dead.
Gotta stop thinking like a gamer and instead like a greedy dev who wants the lemmings to keep serving up those debit cards.
Move on to better game.
This one is done, maybe even the franchise. Slayed by the macrotransaction greed. Terrible end.
Cheers.

Been waiting for the mission creator since forever now. Other than that, Contact Missions are dead af when it comes to updates.

When they did that double event on contact missions a few months back, it was great. I dropped everything else & just did them.

I remember thinking, this is what the payouts should be all the time.

I doubt R* would buff the payments, they put a lot of work into penalising efficiency in missions, altering them to make them, not exactly more difficult, but more fiddly, and of course, removing some.

But it would be fair of them to do it. They deserve it. Even 50% higher payouts for them would be great.

On top of that, like others have said, it would be brilliant if we finally got the ability to create our own. As it stands, we actually have less contact missions than we did years ago.

I'm sure people would appreciate the above stuff a LOT more than the endless stream of adversary modes that R* tries to shove down our throats

Many contact missions got a new breath of life with the new aircraft, I'm going to enjoy gassing NPCs as bombing practice.

I think Rockstar saw CMs as part of the player's initiation into GTAO and not much more, hence everything since Lowriders has been a mission but not a CM, as it were.

Get rid of the 15 minute timer. You'd think it'd be more money to finish faster but I'd rather keep the current payouts if they dropped the timer. I make $25,000 in 10 minutes for sightseer so waiting 15 minutes in a contact mission that takes 4 minutes to complete isn't great for anyone. I can't believe I missed the double pay contact event, been waiting for something like it for a long time. If not remove the timer, at least change it from 15 minutes to 10 minutes for maximum payout.

Yeah, too bad this community doesn't see past money glitching sh*t.

When was the last time Survival was updated? You know how much locations or variations I could think of?

A slasher survival? Racist hillbillies or on halloween zombies trying to kill you with melee weapons nad you're only armed with a pistol or shotty?

What about survival at the merryweather base? or a gang war near strawberry? Or in the tunnel system?

You know how much throwback missions you could have in the contact mission component? You could have a mission sequence like Lib City Stories in which an NPC drives you around and you have to shoot your pursuers? Or protect madrazo's/Lamar's men during a gang war and take out the other gang members?

C'mon . . . I'm just a 19 year old...

Still, I prefer PvE just like single player's model.

Accretion, accretion is the reason why R* never look at previous mechanics and improve it.

As stated by reddit user SanshaXII that GTA Online is a victim of 'accretion' - where developers just dump new sh*t on the pile instead of refining, fixing or removing old, obsolete stuff

Probably we will never see any real improvement for any existing game modes, only new shallow stuff.

Imagine survivals with today's stuff. Npcs pulling up in armed insurgents, noose arriving from choppers, npcs flushing you out with tear gas, and some boss rounds with Juggernauts maybe even a bombing run on bigger maps. Oh, a man can dream...

You can sort of make missions in the capture creator. It takes a lot of creativity and fiddling around but it's kind of do-able.

It's still PvP essentially as you're going against another team

Contact Mission Creator is a must.

Buffing existing payouts, not so much. Bear in mind you are working for low level criminals, the likes of Simeon and Gerald, they wont have the big money to throw around and, to be honest, stealing a pink Zion shouldn't pay any more than it currently does, blowing up 10 cars and evading police shouldn't pay more than it currently does.

PvE is dead though. Rockstar don't care about it. They made that clear with the last five big freeroam updates. Forced PvP and increasing the accuracy and damage on NPCs without increasing the actual AI shows they don't care, are lazy or just are unable to implement better AI.

Contact Mission creator is where it's at. Open it up to us. We have wanted it for 4 years, it's there, it's disabled. Open it up, even if it's the same basic version as what could be glitched way back when. Give the creator community new toys, give the PvE guys new missions. Payouts can suck ass for all I care, it's the content that's needed. Use the same time based payouts the other missions are based on.

That's exactly what I had to resort to, my captures have always been based on ideas I had for contact missions, the PvP aspect ruins them though.

I would love mission creator

But why are some of you thinking this will solve money issues? Surely they will put some kind of payout cap no matter how difficult you try and make it....

I thought the while thing was so some us who are creative can make some fun and interesting missions using this awesome map...

and it will kill some boredom by trying other people's cool creations

We should have a survival creator too...

Sloghtly off topic but why do people love rewording that clown trumps slogan? Its really off putting

Survival creator is also there but locked. As are a couple of other things (I forget what).

The mission creator wont solve money issues. I don't think it needs to be looked at as a way to solve them either. It will solve the issues with the PvE content being so old and stale now.

For money, there are way to grind an easy $1m every hour or so. I earned $8.5m for the SR update in 3 days of barely playing the game (I/E 2x money, MC sells and GR sells), I earned $150k while forcing a player to hide in his hangar yesterday with CEO work. Money isn't an issue. Content is.

for me it's okay that fighty pvp takes place in free roam and i'm fluffy okay with new military toys for pew pew hihihi! i just feel like that many things need some balancing now... give more pve content for laid back fluffy penguins like myself! mission creator (have tons of sparkly ideas for creative missions in my penguin mind hihihi), more missions, maybe a free roam update with tuna and tuners which can be played in invite only... aaaaaah this game could be the ultimate game for everyone! but they do push pvp to much while doing nothing for pve. hihihi i'm throwing around with words like pvp and pve and don't know what they even mean like WHOOPSIES!!!

I wouldnt want this idea in the hands of a squeaker or a tween douchebag because they would make another version of those sh*tty parkour , 100000x rp whatever trap jobs or stunters vs insurgents vs your mama jobs.Besides races rarely has the community ever created anything worth playing. It would suck.

It's not like you would be forced to play any of them. When you consider the crudity of some of Rockstar's efforts, then like anything else user created, there will be some gems in amongst the dross.

Filter out user created content if you believe it would suck. There is an option (at least on xbone) to not receive notifications etc. about user created content. Enabling the creators wouldn't make a difference to you if you chose the settings correctly but would open up a whole host of goodies for those who want them.

Yes, you may get the crap parkor ones etc. just don't accept them. You will also get gems among the crap too though.

It can't be a bad thing to enable them, however you look at it, can it?

I was thinking about all these new updates and you know, non of them have come close to the fun and immersion of hiests or ever the original set of contact missions. It's basically player co op will always be more fun then player vs players. Unfortunately this game has made it's choice and it wont ever being going back. But that's OK another developer will see the opportunity and build a good open world co op vs NPC game.

PS about the mission editor, timed mission payments were put in place just before the mission creator was released... but it was never released, Benz was sacked at around that time and the game went in another direction. But the payment issue is sorted.

There is a huge PvP playerbase they cater for though. They make more from that. It's good business sense to focus on that. Similar to races, the payout is poor but the prices high, they focus on that too.

PvE doesn't directly make them money, it wont increase the desire to get new toys etc. and it will give players a way to earn money. The shift in focus from this setup has been obvious and I suspect that is why it never come.

The Benz was pushed before Online went live if you count the sabbatical which was the beginning of it all. I doubt his involvement/absence is connected.

As for another dev to jump on the same genre of game, have you read about "Everywhere" that The Benz is working on?

A video game that simulates and fuses the real world with the virtual. Live your own stories as you live in ours.

Sounds like it could rival GTA (lawsuits pending).
