How young were you when you started playing GTA and what game did you start with?

I was like 4 (my dad is a teacher who confiscated a copy of vice city on a memory stick from some kid, ended up giving it to me. Don't judge, parents had no idea what the game was about.) Every time i turned it on i always started a new game as i had no clue how to get your progress so i ended up watching the intro cutscenes like 100 times. My dad later gave the kid the memory stick back and i was pretty pissed. So how about you all? How young were you and what did you start with?

6 yrs old I think, it was Vice City on PS2 too, on my neighbour's house. He was, somehow, younger than me. He was also the most asshole kid I've ever met with the most 'whatever' parents I've ever seen, but hey, he had a PS2! That counts for something, right?

Probably 7-8 years old, my memory is a little hazy but I think it might have been VC or VCS on my cousins PS2.

I just love how nobody here started playing 17+ games when they were actually 17+. Well, maybe some of the grampas here.

I was about 13 when i first played GTA III at my cousins house back in 2001 at a party i remember exaclty. It was like the best freaking game i ever played during that time period in 2001 just a month after 9/11 happened and my middle school was going nuts watching it on the news. Damn how time flies....

But the first actual gta game i owned was gta VC when my parents first bought me and my brother and sister a PS2 with gta 3 and VC and some other games. Was like 13 around there. I was the happiest kid ever. I thank my parents for the good stuff they gave us as kids before the bullsh*t came along in our teen years.

Once i got gta SA around 2004 i was hooked on the series since this gta pictured a lot from where i was growing up in LA. Everybody in the neighborhood was talking about how gangsta the game was lol. I also remember a way older homie than me mentioned this around 04 "You aint a true gangster till you own a copy of SA for the Ps2 ese" lmao good damn times. Since then, SA is still my favorite in the series after all these years. Feel old as sh*t now tbh :/....

3 weeks off 4. GTA III came out and my uncle got it on release day and let me play it. I picked up on the the DMA Design/Rockstar Games logo and realized it was the same logo from Smuggler's Run so my road to becoming a Rockstar fanboy began.

I think I was in 4th grade, if I remember correctly. We had just picked up a PS1 at Circuit City and I was tired of whatever games we had got for it. I was with my mom and grandma at the Electronics Boutique store at the mall and my grandma picked GTA 2 off the shelf and asked me what I thought about that one. The clerk proceeded to tell her it was a violent game but she just shrugged and got it for me anyway.

From that day on I referred to it as "the burp and fart game". Lol

Electronics Boutique became EB Games which became Gamestop. f*ck, I'm getting old.

I think I was about six years old when my brother showed me GTA1 for the first time. Hooked from the very first minute.

I was 11 and it was november or december of 1999, GTA2 of course, PC. What I remember about it is that I didn't like the idea of a top down perspective, (I haven't been properly introduced to GTA franchise at the time), so I didn't bothered much, but I was totally blown away by the idea of respect, or being in good terms with one gang and having trouble with the other, which is actually an advanced concept and it's a shame it isn't being considered in today games.

It was a love on 3rd sight with GTA III.

Edit: just to be clear with someone that might not be initiated and probably might think, it's bs to say you played GTA in those early days as a kid; well, coming from the country torn apart by the war that has ended just 4 years before my initiation with GTA, even in those days we had a chance to be informed with violence "caused" by the video games coming from the western Europe or USA. Even as kids, we found that to be hilarious, since you could find bomb shells, bullets, mines and every other military requisites still laying around, and logically, every other parent in those days, wanted their children to be home and would rather buy and give its last dime for a PC for its kid to be safe and sound at home playing video games. Plus, it was a thing to say back then "PC's are the future let them learn. ". Not to mention pirating paradise, for 2 or 3 euros, at worst 5, you could buy yourself any latest AAA title at the time.
