The Wandering Hunter Posted August 30, 2017 Share Posted August 30, 2017 (edited) i have fought several planes in this update in my rogue (won them all because of incompetence) the new planes tank several cannon hits, and their cannons fire far slower than a hydra. this means even terrible pilots take a while to go down with the most basic of evasive manouvers. i will say however that the supply mission planes need a buff, as even with several associates, they're at a huge disadvantage against fully upgraded fighters. (double their health, add flares and remove the icon that tells you what kind of plane you'll be facing) in addition, the flares mean you can avoid the constant looping of old hydra dogfights, and homer spam from the ground doesn't disadvantage you at all. But do buy the explosive cannon for it, they are a necessity in a dogfight. And I recommend the standard handling for dogfights, turns much quicker than the Hydra. But do buy the explosive cannon for it, they are a necessity in a dogfight. I've hit players with two direct pinpoint shots, and all it does is juggle them and do some damage. NPCs have seven hundred times more health than players, so you can forget killing them... Typically the Rogue's cannons are useful against planes and vehicles if you line them up properly. rockstar really did successfully balance something. wow. And with f#cked up I mean they are still overpowered. All C* had to do is change the noob explosive cannons with an insane fire rate to either non-explosive ones, or slow-firing ones like one of the new planes. And when you try to take down a griefing Hydra, and finally succeed, you get a warning like "bad-sport! You dest..." for killing a Hydra griefer . And than also 3 other triggered people grab their Hydra and take me down. And when I'm in a Tula for a resupply mission, some f$ckers in a Rogue take me down, bravo... really... bravo ! Am I the only one who likes fair fights !? I fly my Hydra sometimes, I could easely take down o so many people, but how the f#ck is that fun ? Or the times a Heli flew above me and I did NOTHING. I could easely pop it out of the sky, I have a explosive sniper and a Homing Launcher after all... but I don't ! I have enjoyed better dogfights, but not with players so far, and I do enjoy this update, but balance isn't anywhere to be found if you look at the big picture. Sure, it can take a more explosive damage, but it still starts smoking from only a few potshots from guns. Also, when it gets hit by a homing missile it gets thrown off so much sometimes it flips over. It becomes extremely difficult to control in the seconds after taking a missile hit, and if you're at low altitude chances are you'll crash. Just did a supply mission in wich ron 'gives' a Moluk to escort a Titan. I wasn't used to the plane, and my aim wasn't really good wich almost caused me to fail the mission, but is was fun ! Waaaaaay more fun than flying in a Hydra and be like: "press A on the to destroy the Buzzard". Or the mission in wich you have to take down 3 cargoplanes escorted by 6 lazers, I really liked it. Speaking of the Savage... I agree it shouldn't have explosive cannons, but I also think it should have a better range, flares and better armour... it is based on a flying tank, not on a flying HE cannon ! delorianlazarus Posted August 31, 2017 Share Posted August 31, 2017 The Rogue has its qualities (it goes upside down and make rotations faster than my neighbor's panties), but its canons are just meh when compared to the Hydra. Same with Hunter vs Savage. Mobility is better, but your firepower is a step below when it comes to use canons. If you want raw performance and no style, Hydra still has the upper hand. It only lacks flares, but homing missiles are not the biggest threat in dogfights... New planes give lots of fresh air and variation. And source missions are way more fun with the suggested plane: the one with the Starling bombing an enemy base took me a while, while my savage might have done the job in less than a minute, but well....
