Why do people keep saying "Noob"?

It's just a general, catch-all insult isn't it, regardless of your actual level?

I thought it was because they were butthurt from getting beaten. They wanted to be the man, thought they were, but then soon realised they weren't and get upset. But it seems silly to call someone else inexperienced when they are the ones that are in fact inexperienced compared to you. I find it stupid and think the people that say it should be taken out to a field at dawn and shot in the back of the head. Twice. :santa:

u ok there bud?

When someone calls me a noob after I beat them

I reply with "you got owned by a noob, what does thhat make you"

I use that every time, regardless of the actual insult. Racial slur, homophobic slur, sexist slur... Whatever their hangup is, whatever it is that they think I am, I always respond with "What does the fact that you lost to a [whatever you think I am] say about you, tho'?"

Then you get that braindead silence as the gears turn in their head, LOL.

I get the logic you're using to counter the insults, but in reality you're not actually "winning" anything by killing somebody in FR. The other side didn't "lose" to you. You've simply inconvenienced them for a brief time.

The way you've gone about thinking you are "winning" kind of validates the oppositions insulting opinion of you.

No offense. 🤡

Noob, Nub, Nublet, Scrub. Just words. A well placed bullet/ bomb can solve those problems with people that like to smack talk a lot. They usually are the worst fighters.

So, enlighten me, why on earth do you call other players who school you and that are higher ranked than you a NOOB?

Those players are living in the past- it's 2017 so CASUALties are now calling you a TRYHARD.

What I find is that genuine noobs will turn up in races in their flourescent, clown-car coloured noobmobile of choice, the Zentorno and just barrel it into everything, deliberate or not.

People still drive those?

Noobs. It must be really cheap or something. You can guarantee too that it will be every hideous colour imagineable on one car.

Because it rhymes with boob and perhaps they haven't gotten any?

On that note...

Because it's annoying. That's it.

Just like "butthurt". It's part of a new wave, degenerate vocabulary.

I'm not a PvP God and I do make mistakes. In this case I'm called "noob", "idiot" as well. There is no clear pattern.

I believe, they just want to attack you with everything they have. They are keeping saying noob mostly to insult you. Making insults can give you a tactical advantage if you make an opponent lose his temper. I'm not sure if they do it intentionally or by instinct, but sometimes it works. Risky maneuvers with a Jet, more rushing, more mistakes. Especially, if you are new to multiplayer gaming.

People are utilizing insults in combat and combat-related games since ancient times. Also, there was a practice of Insult contests.

So, I don't think it's a "new wave".

I say "Scrub" or "sh*t Kicker".

Noob is overused and doesn't hurt the emotions like it used to.

People assume I'm a noob because I'm only rank 90 something. Like I could give a f*ck. I've played this sh*t since it launched and I care more about playing the actual game rather than ranking up. Rank means nothing. And then morons are surprised when they try to chase me and can't catch up. I once had some idiot who hopped in my car right before I drove into my CEO garage ask "Please don't tell me you bought Shark Cards" and when I said no, he didn't respond. No you dumb bitch, I didn't.

Oh and op is full of sh*t. No one rage quits after being killed only 6 times and with 2 people that's only 2 kills on each 3 times. fake af story.

OP really got into his feelings over someone calling him a noob in a video game. Ha. Grow thicker skin.

Why didn't you ask the people who said it what they meant instead of asking us to speculate on their motives? Or is the point of this thread just to brag about what a videogame badass you are?

I was hoping some of the people who say it would read this and realise what a monumental twat they are being when they say it and hopefully put a lid on it.

I'm not a badass at gaming. I'm good at some, but not many.

Unless you know they visit this forum that is a very very very big hope... I am beginning to think they might be right ;)

I've lost count of how many times I've been called a noob, especially when people attack me when I'm just strolling along minding my own business. After much scientific trial and error it is of my conclusion that gamers are a pretty cringey spieces. Stay away from some at all costs or you'll catch a infectious bug.

Again, it gets said so much it is inevitable that some of the people that say it are here. Some even admit to saying it in this very thread. lol

Dont be in my session then  plenty of bad language...... C***, Knobhead. W*****

I was going to say i'd much rather be called a c*nt or something, just something different for a change. Spice it up a bit. lol

I get that message out of nowhere whilst minding my own business. People like to show off in video games.

Google says that "NOOB" is an acronym for "None of Our Business".

Lazy though as words like 'of' or 'the' are not supposed to be represented. This is why the FBI is not FBOI.

Don't mind, it's either a kid or a retard. I don't even recognize those kind of messages. I'm on PC, and as soon as I look at the public chat seeing something like "noob" directed at me, mentally I yawn and I forget it instantly, it doesn't mean anything. Just use it to troll back with something like "ui ui ui", etc. to post it in the "Best/Worst message thread".
Seriously, I really try to get into the mind of someone who even bothers to send such a message... and I come to the conclusion of my first sentence.

When you beat someone and they call you a noob it's generally their attempt to claw back some pieces of their fragile shattered ego.

When you're a decent player and you f*ck something up and someone calls you it then it's a reminder that you're only human.

i send a noob text to high ranked players all the time, im only a level 154 but ive been playing since day 1 and something ive learnt is that if someone takes the time to grind the numbers next to their name up for no reward other than feeling superior they are probably sensitive about getting name called, and so throwing out a noob is sometimes enough to get them to trip up and play emotionally rather than rationally and i can get an easier kill on them which can be very entertaining
