Why do people keep saying "Noob"?

I've lost count at the ammount of times i've had someone say this to me while playing GTA Online. I get it atleast twice every session. And its always from people who have tried to kill me and failed miserably, or by someone who has taken an easy kill on me while i'm away, paused etc, and i've come back to totally annihilate them.

 

Had it again just now. Standing still talking to my friend in party chat when i started getting vote kicked from the room. Looked at the mini map and there are only 2 other people in the room ranked 298 and 282. (I'm 409) Must be them that are voting to kick me. I see they are wanting to play the new Smugglers Run. So just for vote kicking me i go over in my new fully upgraded WW2 plane. They were both in buzzards. I dodge every single rocket they fire at me for about 5 mins just to mess with them and that's when the infamous "YOU'RE A TOTAL NOOB" text comes. So i stop messing about and start to fire back and shoot them both down and destroy their supplies. I then say to them "What was that you were saying about a noob again?". They then throw everything at me, new jets, buzzards, rockets, opressors, but i take them all down until they rage quit 6 - 0 to me.

 

With how much "NOOB" get's said on GTA, it is inevitable that we have some people here in the forum who say it to other players. So, enlighten me, why on earth do you call other players who school you and that are higher ranked than you a NOOB? lol

I thought it was because they were butthurt from getting beaten. They wanted to be the man, thought they were, but then soon realised they weren't and get upset. But it seems silly to call someone else inexperienced when they are the ones that are in fact inexperienced compared to you. I find it stupid and think the people that say it should be taken out to a field at dawn and shot in the back of the head. Twice.

This is something that you should understand by yourself. It's not even the game related. You could just simply ask "why do people insult each other?"

As for Online... Toxic people, they're everywhere.

Yeah, what everyone else said.

It's actually a sign that the person using it is either highly intelligent and knows exactly how to get under your skin, OR they lack any form of creativity with regard to hurling insults.

What I find is that genuine noobs will turn up in races in their flourescent, clown-car coloured noobmobile of choice, the Zentorno and just barrel it into everything, deliberate or not.

 

When they try it on (and inevitably fail) I sometimes send them "Away with ye in your noobmobile"

 

They don't like that, and often send "??" as a classic "I shall pretend not to know what this blithering idiot is on about" reply.

I don't call people noobs unless they absolutely suck ( at the game, not against people), like getting murdered in heists still after 6 retries, or they don't use their minimap and common sense. I've never been called a noob before, and no one can call me one. That's one thing I liked about playing video games as a child, you ascended out the noob phase when you got good enough.

 

Better question is, why do people say scrub? That's one word that gets under my nails, and every player I hear it from has COD in their library.

Noob..its a stupid word for lazy people. If anyone reading this who uses the term should be embarrassed for it because it says more about the person using it than the one recieving it. People call you a noob for all sorts of reasons - mainly to get on your nerves and make you angry. It works.

 

But people will sometimes call you a noob for using overpowered weapons against conventional gaming styles, or for instigating a fight against someone doing a cargo run, for example. So it's not because you're "new", but for behaving like a kid against people who are just going about their business.

 

You're a "noob" in relation to my gaming concept and the way I play the game.

I use that every time, regardless of the actual insult. Racial slur, homophobic slur, sexist slur... Whatever their hangup is, whatever it is that they think I am, I always respond with "What does the fact that you lost to a [whatever you think I am] say about you, tho'?"

 

Then you get that braindead silence as the gears turn in their head, LOL.
