Old school - Update idea

Hello,

 

I've been a long time fan of the GTA franchise from Vice city to GTA V.

I love the improvements and how huge development that went into this with all the updates we've recieved over the years, from great ways of earning money by investing to make more money in the long run (which i feel like is even a good way to teach some basic business, not talking about the game's specific types of business but you get the rough idea haha)

To new special vehicles, aircrafts, flying bikes, etc..

 

But i would really like some old school aspects from the previous games for example, San Andreas where you began from small gang and family to bigger things and businesses.

Ever since the game came out i felt like the game needed some sort of group/gang system which we have nowdays but in different way, i loved just cruising around with friends BMX's and just free-roaming which eventually expanded to a 27person BMX crew which eventually numbers went down as people got tired of the game and people switched to new gen later on.

Today twice a week or so i have my friends(mostly new but a couple from the old times) and we do some bike stunts together, some hard rail grinds and so on.

We always talk about how there could be improvements and stuff for people like us and how cool this and that would be for a long time now even back from the old generation,

 

So thought i'd post some of the ideas we've had from over the years here since i don't really know if there's any official forums where this could get seen by a Creative Director or someone from Rockstar team.

 

Here they are.

 

 

- A Ganghouse much like the Clubhouse from the bikers update,

but i feel like this should contain some of these following features.

 

- BMX Customisation, now this many of us wanted from day one, from the Ganghouse you'd be able to customise your bike with Livery's, Colours of your choice, maybe some wheels and bulletproof tires

 

- Indoor Skatepark choices, now this would be one of the main things since you could have so many amazing and crazy designs to choose from without adding any new ones to the map. Which the

choice would depend on what Ganghouse you chose, from the expensive/big to the cheaper/smaller Ganghouses.

 

- And also obviously since we are taking the old things from San Andreas, Graffiti. This would be an amazing thing that would just allow you to mark a territory where your group is going for some stunts or

or whatever just going around and putting your crew's mark on the city as a group. There could be options of some premade graffiti or more costly crew emblem for one time big payment from the owner

of the Gang, no free-drawing we all know how that would go lol. And obviously this will have a few amounts of use per person, and i feel like the right way to add this would be the following idea bellow.

 

- A backpack. This would make so much sense and i feel like this would just be insanely cool in general with the amount of customisation you could have with this (everybody already loves the dufflebag

since it adds some variety to the game's customisation), the backpack would contain your graffiti supplies, different colours, ammo to them(lol), and anything really. A backpack could add so much

even beyond these things to the game for the future. You'd have to pick it up from your ganghouse, apartment, clubhouse, office or so and to resupply it you'd go with your backpack to a grocery store

and buy your supplies there which would another use to the grocery store.

 

- And as much as this has probably been suggested, Skateboards.

With the backpacks i spoke about you could just put your skateboard in your backpack and use it when walking, and maybe even as a melee weapon just cause why not if you already have it on you.

There could be so much customisation to these and i mean Skateboards to this game in general would be the coolest thing ever to someone like me and there's already some mods which did a good job

of making Skateboards for GTA V, ill link them below.

- And a new way of earning some money, Publicity and fame. Skateboarding magazines and such used to be a big thing and i feel like this could be this could be a thing if this update

would come to reality and this would be different from the other ways of making money. You could start out as an amateur skater or biker and earn a little amount each time you'd get a message for

a shoot for a magazine to which you'd eventually make a bigger and bigger name for yourself and get different contracts for different companies to the point you'd get to make your own magazine and

make way more money. I feel like this would be a balanced way to make money, you'd have to work your way up the leagues with active income to the point when you reach the end you can still earn

some bigger active income for yourself but also passive money when you get to make your own company, from there as the other companies did with you, you'd invest money into different skaters for

shoots and maybe even contracts which would cost alot more but in the long run make more money. This is really a rough idea but i think it would be different and really cool.

 

- Gang activities, this could be a way of expanding your gang and territory just like San Andreas. your crew would get a little amount of RP or Money by being in your gang's territory and protecting it or

just cruising around it and marking it.

 

- Theres so many possibilities of clothing and customisation with all of this, but this could be one of them. Different kinds and colours of gas masks ( which people love in general ), it would be much like

the rebreather in the sense if you were to graffiti without it, you'd take a little amount of damage just as if you smoke in the game.

 

 

Well there it is, i think this would be an amazing addition to the game with all the things we are already getting and just adds more things to do in free-roam and content creating-creator.

If you made it all the way to the end, thank you very much and i'd love to hear your feedback or possibly even more ideas.

I think that some Xtreme sports stuff to play around on is past due, especially since they provide ramps etc. It's always fun to roll around with friends like that. Also, backpacks are already in the game in the form of parachutes, so I don't see why it would be hard for R* to simply reskin or update the models so that aesthetic backpacks could be worn.

As far as the mag shoots and all that I don't think that fits... that's along the lines of golf and yoga. Just skate or bmx and enjoy yourself.

 

Some kind of gang mechanic should have been there around launch imo.

 

This would be more fair and valuable DLC to me than anything recent. Good ideas.

But then that could be said for everything in GTAO (and frequently is on here). It's not a racing game. It's not a military shooter. It's not a Sims clone or a flying combat game. Yet we have elements of all of those plus much more.

 

What genre of game is GTAO anyway, besides open-world sandbox? Dismissing anything at this stage as "genre inappropriate" makes no sense, especially after the last big update gave us an armed flying motorbike.

 

Personally I'd rather more grounded content along the lines of OP's suggestions as an alternative to mindless, perpetual PvP and wacky nonsense but the game is what it is at this point.

 

 

 

And it won't go in the gang direction either because we are waay past that right now

 

Sadly i'm inclined to agree here, but it's such an oversight on the dev team's part considering the location and the fact that SP characters like Lamar and Franklin open up loads of scope in Online for the old SA style gang wars and territory control to fit right in.

 

Damn, competing for sections of the city against other players with gang affiliations would even give PvP an actual purpose and I'd personally be much more up for it if there was a larger goal like that to keep chasing!

Races are an easy add on in a game that features cars, so nothing exceptional there, every other game that had cars had races, or at least 8 out of 10.

Gta is a sandbox but it's a Shooter with vehicles sandbox, the rest is minimal in comparison with previous gta titles, and if you don't see that then you are blind. And while i agree that the rocket bike cathers the youtube audience of mostly kids that play this game, it is still a combat vehicle, not a flying BMX, as the objectives and missions in this game are always combat related, not sport.

I still don't know what point you're trying to make but from what I can understand It's a poorly constructed one based on nothing but your own opinion anyway.

 

YOU clearly don't see any validity or appeal in the ideas, so therefore you think they don't have any business being in a GTA title. Same attitude as so many people on here.

I feel like the game at this point is much like garry's mod for example, a sandbox with all kinds of gamemode's inside.

So i feel like the game doesn't really have a specific genre anymore, i mean if you think the game's update should all just now be guns, cars with guns, bikes with guns, aircrafts with guns, and more guns, sure i guess that's what the game is for YOU specifically.

But the may be a lot different for a lot of people and i mean how much more guns on things can you pack a game with?

Besides BMX's are already there and Skateboards are kind of the same thing it's nothing new, so i overall don't really get your point i just feel like this would be a nice addition to the game to add something to do when you don't feel like setting up for world war.

I think that some Xtreme sports stuff to play around on is past due, especially since they provide ramps etc. It's always fun to roll around with friends like that. Yeah with the Magazine industry type of thing i kinda just thought of since Rockstar seems to want more businesses with each update in the game, but yeah you're right that part is not really fitting.

I agree about the open-world-sandbox as that's what the game has become

 

And yeah i feel like it would be really cool to capture a parts of the city with your crew and then for other gangs to come and fight for the territory for some Cash or RP and multipliers per X amount of territory taken so you could go on and on, really bummed out and a little confused the dev's haven't taken that from San Andreas into GTA:O feels like it would be fitting.

On topic: since OP mentioned lots of gang stuff then i want to say we also need some more gang clothes since Rockstar forgot a bunch of clothes that the f*cking gang NPCs wear (as always NPCs have better clothes than the player)
