GTAO: Worst gaming community ever?

That's like saying Americans are the worst people in the world. It's a big country and there are a lot of weirdos, rednecks and racists in it. But then you look at how stupid that sounds.

Ever since GTA Online, multiplayer gaming has lost its social buzz....... i was on Red Dead Redemption for its entire 4 years and the players that i met and hung out with was amazing, now on GTA everyone is just going solo.

The free roam is so quiet, either players just sitting in there own areas like apartments or driving aimlessly on the map. when ever i start a race PL, mission, heist. I invite all from session because no one is actually moving, so i think to myself lets give these people some entertainment.

What has happened to multiplayer gaming?

Worst? Not even.

Try playing competitive matches on Overwatch and you'll see a terrible community....

I don't use the in-game chat because it sucks ass, and furthermore I can't be bothered to be screamed at by a random french kiddie (and that happend a lot back when I played on PS3)

Game chat is the social network...... and you can mute individuals

In the lobbies I land in, most people are trundling up and down the map moving boxes, gunrunning things or cars.

One more thing.......

People send friend requests, but never send or accept game invites??? Why try abd have 500 friends on your respective console and not join up with them once in a while?

Hahahahaha, you think the GTA online community is the worst ? buddy, dont play Rainbow six Siege or Counter Strike Global Offensive,i can assure, if hell exists, then it is in those games.

It's up there, but not the worst. The game itself is intended to drive the community apart, which probably has something to do with the secluded and dickish nature of the general Online player.

EVERY online community is a terrible community.

When provided with anonymity and very little consequences for actions it seems a sizeable number of players automatically devolve into puerile, bigoted, cheating, selfish, Napoleon-complex jerk offs.

You just have to look at the gamertags many people choose for f*cks sake. Pathetic overcompensating and delusions of grandeur right down to the name players give themselves.

Alright. So back in March, right before they stopped character transfers, i got the PC version of GTAV and transferred my characters. Seeing them transition over was lovely. The game feels and plays great. And i thought along the way, i'd meet some fellow PC gamers. Some gamers with credibility and some pedigree. And to be blunt; some level of intelligence. I'm at a loss for words at how dimwitted the player base is and how likewise incapable they are. The game - for the most part - seems to be populated by casual, dude-bro type who live off of a diet of Mountain Dew and Cool Ranch Doritos. Or just the typical Call of Duty kiddies that actually aren't gamers at all without a shred of credibility.

All i run into are players who remain silent and do not use their microphone in Freemode. Either that, or they use some third-party app to communicate such as Discord or TS. Which is fine. But you've kind of severed your connection to the rest of the players, haven't you? I've been on GTAO on PC since March and haven't done a SINGLE heist. I never even thought i'd have to go on a forum to post for recruitment to my crew. The capacity for expanded thinking even shows in the crew system. Players don't want to join other crews, yet they're in crews that are very inactive and end up playing by themselves. Another great example is players only adding you on Social Club. Not having the capacity for divergent thinking to be able to see that Social Club clearly isn't good enough to keep track of who's online. What tells you when people are usually on their PC, ready to game? Hmmmm... Steam, perhaps? And that's just one of many examples. Other, actual normal people don't even want to play the game anymore because of said reasons. Which is unfortunate, because it doesn't help the problem. I'm shocked at the amount of people that should be on consoles; that are playing on the PC. I guess gimmickery knows no bounds?

Is there anyone sane/normal/mature around here? All i want is to play GTAO. Missions. Heists. Show off some cars, etc. Play the occasional golf game. I can't begin to express how tremendously frustrating it is to not be able to find any other normal players to play with. I feel like Nicole Kidman in The Invasion, FFS.

Don't play with randoms.

Wait, i got it.

The worst gaming community is a Roblox community.

From the amount of complaining my two sons do about being scammed by other players on Rocket League, I would say that is a bad one as well. From what I understand, you win crates of goodies, but have to buy (with real money) the keys to open them. I sat quietly in my son's room recently whilst he played it and listened to two adults (or late teens at least) trying to coerce my good-hearted eight year old into buying keys to open their crates for them. I had to get on the mic eventually, and they both f*cked off. Scumbags. There are also players who convince kids like my lad to let them "try" out some of the features, then laugh and log off, never to return them. I have had a few conversations with my son about not trusting people. He's a bit wiser now. Edited by Big Molio

I think it's tragic that people will stoop this low. Manipulating a child's innocence for personal gain. F*cking honestly.

Good for you for intervening, BM. I hope they pissed their little panties when you got on the mic.

I play with audio off, generally listening to SoundCloud and only use mic in Heists with friends.

This community is full of morons.

9 years since GTA 4 and people are still saying the same dumb crao about who is a bit**, a fa***t, whatever, who has skills like they get paid for this, etc etc etc.

I'm a happier gamer.

It's surprising how much of the stress and aggression is removed from the game when you turn off chat. I only wish I could disable SMS as well. The last thing I want to read is some 12 year olds broken english attempt at circumventing the language filter to tell me "U SUK U PSSY FGGT".

Thanks kid, that really makes you look like a man.

Yeah, it's not good. That's why I'm half glad that GTAO doesn't have any kind of trading system really. It would be great in theory to be able to trade cars, prizes and other assorted goodies with each other, but the game being what it is, it would be an absolute f*ckfest.

i think its natural given the nature of the game, you cant expect peace, love and tree huggin in a game that revolves around violence.

The PC playerbase attracted a lot of new players recently and scared away many veterans

That's why seeing a Hydra pilot using homing missles instead of cannon is normal on PC in the last few months.

People are still playing Heists on PC. Why not try your luck with random invite?

Car shows are a thing, you just have to invite people using a text chat. Use some covered locations to reduce the risks of air attacks.

Play the occasional golf game.

Meh. No luck with that. Do console players play golf often?

All i run into are players who remain silent and do not use their microphone in Freemode.

They get used to typing. Also, players on PC do NOT like when a random person is using a mic and talking to a whole lobby. Usually, they will ask to "shut the f**k up".

You sound like a pretentious douche bag. No wonder no one wants to associate themselves with you.

Actually he doesn't. He states fact. The game is full of idiots and douche bags. 80% of the time I play with the public nowadays, I end up turning off the game. The stupidity of these people is unbearable. Absolute S H I T of a community.

sh*t like this is just too common these days man, disgusting too...

The stuff my son was exposed to early on in GTA was horrendous, luckily for him, I'm right there with him and he was never left to it, but so many parents, including a IRL friend that leaves his 10yr old alone upstairs with GTA, do just that and buy the kids these games, the game itself is rightly an 18, but with good parenting and talking etc. kids can be guided through that stuff, like movies and music even...

But then you get these select few real bastards out there looking to prey on the innocence of others, and that part is just so underestimated by many parents these days man, the game may have boobies and swearing, but that's nothing to the unregulated filth and savagery that happens out there. This one time 3 dudes scared the piss out of some kid in a session still sticks in my mind, absolutely horrible experiences I've read at times too, but to see and hear some of it really did shock me as to just how often it can happen in damn near any game...

GTA:O being my only real experiences with online gaming mind you, but have since opened up in Minecraft and Gran Turismo, each has their good and bad, suffice to say, my son won't be left to it until he's a bit older and wiser. Nothing against hardcore, fair gaming, win or lose, nor a bit of banter. But, certainly in my experiences on GTA:O, I've never seen such a broad acceptance by so many that cheating and deceiving others in such ways is getting more accepted/ignored. I'll never accept it nor could I stoop so low to win a bloody game man, pointless to me...

Gta is just an extension of real life, you'll meet good ppl, bad ppl, and the ones in between.. you just have to add/chat/speak to, the ones are like you, it won't happen often, but you'll meet ppl eventually.. even ppl that will come with you to other games, etc. I myself got 3 of those and we are really good friends now, and every one of us is in a different country haha.

I will tell you this:

It's much easier to be an asshole, than it is to be a kind player in this game.

Not so sure about this part. I go out of my way to be co-operative in GTA... Granted it does get me killed now and again but it's worth while when another player is relieved to meet someone willing to help.

It's a very rewarding part of the game for me. At least there are some around eh. I have had great success in GTA by working with others when the opportunity presents itself.

I managed to learn early that the real road to GTA riches is working with others. I do wish more would get into that. Ranting about R* really doesn't do anything but when players band together nobody needs shark cards and R* would tremble at a player base that worked as one. LoL that really sounds pie in the sky but its true.

Edit: One thing I would add after reading more of the thread. I don't ever care who's behind the character. I don't look beyond the depth of the pixel. Only thing important to me is how that character acts. Old, young, edgy whatever. I don't usually mic unless requested for something specific or until I get to know someone. I never shoot first, the single biggest message any player can send another bar none.

You should be grateful. The GTAO game chat is a toxic cesspool of racism, sexism, various other isms, profanity, and wanton offensiveness. You really, really aren't missing anything.

There are FAR worst communities, no need to do a click bait title to repeat the same old crap.

Just play LoL for more than 15 minutes and come back to tell us your experience.

Find a crew or friends who play the way you want to play.

Also, constantly bashing community by saying we are all a big fat bunch of f*cks actually has a very low chance of improving it.

If I constantly repeat "you, sir, are a smelly little pretentious idiot who confuses his a*shole with the center of the universe", I'm not sure you will improve your behavior.

Solid Scorpion

I've experienced a lot worse.

MGO2 was the most toxic game I'd played at the time (dunno about now haven't played much).

Lag switchers, people flooding your IP, people DDOSing the main servers during tournaments, kicking everyone on the opposing team etc.

But I will say off the back of that, you can't judge a whole community on a few assholes.

There are plenty of decent people playing GTAO, it's just the loud attention seeking assholes draw the most attention as irl.

Everyone remembers the loud obnoxious troll screaming down the mic while blowing everyone up, but tend to forget about the dudes just keeping themselves to themselves.

I've met plenty of friendly randoms in contact missions. It's through contact missions that allot of randoms have ended up on my friends list.
