GTAO: Worst gaming community ever?

Alright. So back in March, right before they stopped character transfers, i got the PC version of GTAV and transferred my characters. Seeing them transition over was lovely. The game feels and plays great. And i thought along the way, i'd meet some fellow PC gamers. Some gamers with credibility and some pedigree. And to be blunt; some level of intelligence. I'm at a loss for words at how dimwitted the player base is and how likewise incapable they are. The game - for the most part - seems to be populated by casual, dude-bro type who live off of a diet of Mountain Dew and Cool Ranch Doritos. Or just the typical Call of Duty kiddies that actually aren't gamers at all without a shred of credibility.

All i run into are players who remain silent and do not use their microphone in Freemode. Either that, or they use some third-party app to communicate such as Discord or TS. Which is fine. But you've kind of severed your connection to the rest of the players, haven't you? I've been on GTAO on PC since March and haven't done a SINGLE heist. I never even thought i'd have to go on a forum to post for recruitment to my crew. The capacity for expanded thinking even shows in the crew system. Players don't want to join other crews, yet they're in crews that are very inactive and end up playing by themselves. Another great example is players only adding you on Social Club. Not having the capacity for divergent thinking to be able to see that Social Club clearly isn't good enough to keep track of who's online. What tells you when people are usually on their PC, ready to game? Hmmmm... Steam, perhaps? And that's just one of many examples. Other, actual normal people don't even want to play the game anymore because of said reasons. Which is unfortunate, because it doesn't help the problem. I'm shocked at the amount of people that should be on consoles; that are playing on the PC. I guess gimmickery knows no bounds?

Is there anyone sane/normal/mature around here? All i want is to play GTAO. Missions. Heists. Show off some cars, etc. Play the occasional golf game. I can't begin to express how tremendously frustrating it is to not be able to find any other normal players to play with. I feel like Nicole Kidman in The Invasion, FFS.

Hasn't this conversation been had already where everybody ended up fighting with everybody else until it turned into a sh*tfest that was ultimately locked because of the pointless nature of it?

I'm not there to have big conversations and chat - I'm there to play. Maybe if they were actual friends on the game I might, but randoms? Lol, no. And no, I don't play COD.

Of all the things to hate in the game, that'd be one that's lower down on the list, surely?

Hi Nicole, I haven't seen your movie yet.

Ontopic, most gaming communities tend to have tools, GTA being such a huge franchise attracts a wide audience and the tools are very loud (power tool loud)

As always, you need to make contacts on social media or discord, forums etc to find the sane people.

Well if its console they are most likely in party chat, but every now and then I run into people talking through the game chat. Personality wise it ranges from chill to cringe wanna be gangsters.

I'll agree with you and say that the community in terms of "Sportsmanship" is poor.

The game doesn't encourage it, but rather encourages "Unsporting" behavior, such as team killing/griefing.

-Running you over
-Colliding their heli into yours, blowing you up.
-Killing you during a deathmatch, etc etc.

I have been on the receiving and giving end of both. I never hear anyone when I have my Mic in on freeroam or matches . . . its weird. But given the douchebaggery many people deal in online, its not like I would want to talk anyway.

I like Mountain Dew and Cool Ranch Doritos.........but I don't play Call of Duty, and I'm no kiddo. I play on PC and mostly play in private lobby. Your grouping people together makes you sound like a pretentious douche bag.

The community is very big, it's very tough to expect almost every person to be kind to you in a game which allows you to blow the sh*t out of one another. Not everyone in this game wants to be a softie that has sex with everyone around and there's nothing wrong with that.

If a person wanted to communicate, they'd use their mic.

Also, we get it, you think everybody is "kids" and hate anyone that is a "kid", mature doesn't mean that the player has to cooperate with you in this game.

I play with audio off, generally listening to SoundCloud and only use mic in Heists with friends.

This community is full of morons.

9 years since GTA 4 and people are still saying the same dumb crao about who is a bit**, a fa***t, whatever, who has skills like they get paid for this, etc etc etc.

I'm a happier gamer.

You sound pretty judgmental op, maybe you should try playing with yourself if everyone else sucks so bad.

I will tell you this:

It's much easier to be an asshole, than it is to be a kind player in this game.

Regarding your issue with players using mics, I seriously hate listening to parallel talks that doesn't concern me, I play the game to...Play the game, not talk with others, also my speaking English is not good and I'm a introvert, I always leave chat options to nobody.

If you want to talk to me, send a PSN or in-game text message.

Regarding the intelligence level of the random player in this game, I wholeheartedly agree with you, the average player of this game is probably lacking a couple thousand of brain cells in his head.

Good thing we are not the average.

I don't use the in-game chat because it sucks ass, and furthermore I can't be bothered to be screamed at by a random french kiddie (and that happend a lot back when I played on PS3)

You've got some view on the community. I for one, am a semi elite player, but not one of those try hard COD cancerous f*cks, so I feel your pain on the incapability of 90% of players. I just value good teammates, but I am not a team player, never was, never will be. I have not played with anyone better than/equal to me since 2015, who doesn't spam rockets and explosives 24/7 just to get the job done.

Sometimes I wish you only levelled up depending on your skill in the game. Rule out who's a headache, and who's worth your time.

I can do any heist, any job, no dying ( lag is an exception) or failures. I'm not one to brag, but I just wish I could meet people who will give me what I give them.

Reliability.

Lol...so im weird because i dont necessarily want to talk to some stranger when im trying to make money by sourcing a car or gunrunning?

....makes sense

I dont play gtao or any other video game to talk to people. I play to zone out amd 'unwind' at the end of the day...of talking to people for a living

Yep, pretty judgemental post borne undoubtedly out of sheer frustration. Your problem now is that you have just shown yourself to be the type of person 99%

of people wouldnt want to associate with because you yourself have shown multiple negative traits. Irony!

Im sure youre a nice guy mate, like a few others have said just focus on finding a group of like minded individuals in a crew and stay chill and be friendly and you will get there. You wont ever get a bunch of randoms to behave the way you want in ANY game. Good luck!

GTAO just has a HUGE online player base. That means a lot of different personalities, playstyles. Hardcore gamers vs casual gamers, young and old, etc, etc.

What were you expecting?...

It's like expecting to see only diehard metal fans when visiting a gig of Metallica. Not gonna happen.

Don't play popular titles that attract a broad audience if you only want to play with hardcore gamers just 'as good as you'

Well, you haven't done any of the heist since March? I think that the problem is on your side, since everyone i know can do heists with random people fine (well, to be honest, there's some exceptions).

And get use to it. GTA O community isn't the best, but isn't the worst. You should see CS community.

Can't agree with anything OP. I've started on PC since release - alone in the GTAO world. After a couple levels, powerful guns and experience I joined random heists over and over again. I made decent friends there, same in public lobbies or other jobs or activities (golf and dart f.e., less in races tbh). I closed my mic early in the game due to my gender and stalkers ingame - friends for sure know how I sound.

You mentioned that you have a crew and you had to post here to fill it up and you were unable to play a single heist since march? Can't believe that. You're on PC, enjoy Selfradio and textchat (look infront of you, there's a keyboard). It's pretty easy to make friends or - simplier - find good players to hang arround with and play the game / have fun / earn some money.

If you believe in what you've written here, than either you act pretty wrong or you're the unluckiest guy I've ever met (read about) playing this game.

Edit:

TL;DR

We reap what we sow.

I have a feeling that the GTA community is segregated right now.

Generally speaking you have:

Type A: The people who like GTA III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS, IV, EFLC, and V (SP), and generally hate GTA Online. Some of them used to like GTA Online.

Type B: The people who like GTA Online.

Type C: The people who hate GTA Online, but still play it anyways and some aren't typically aware of GTA V SP or the past GTA games.

How do they feel?

-The people who like all the single player content are all getting disappointed because Rockstar has shifted focus from single player (whether its a DLC or a new game). On PC they generally enjoy modding the single player.

-Some of the people who are Online fans are glad to be getting new DLC. They ether have modded accounts, or a lot of free time. The rest are getting disappointed because the payouts and prices aren't balanced.

Where do I fall? I am a Type A person. I absolutely love the SP modes, and all the past GTA games. I used to like GTA Online but find the content to be repetitive and not very creative (considering the upcoming update is a copy of the Finance and Felony DLC and some SP aircraft mods). So I am more interested in modding SP. I do get annoyed that the updates sometimes break my SP mods, but I am happy that the updates give me new vehicles, weapons, and interiors to mod into single player. I do wish Rockstar would stop with GTA Online and work on GTA VI.

What's that supposed to mean?It means that he thinks the PC Gamers are the serious, elite gamers and we console users with our inferior FPS are nothing but dog sh*t on his shoe.

I'm hurt, I don't think I can play anymore because of the shame.
