Rockstar's Legit Cash-Deleting Scheme to Sell More Shark Cards

Bitch With a Gun

Look guys, this is pretty obvious. Let's look at the evidence:

1) They always do a modded money sweep before a DLC, removing modded money in obvious hopes people will buy Shark Cards instead of using the mod cash.

2) In previous money removals, we didn't have complaints of mass amounts legitimate money being taken away.

3) Suddenly, a big new DLC is coming in a few days and we have another mod money sweep in which accounts that sometime in the past got some modded money dropped on it and there is a "glitch" which revokes unprecedented millions of legit GTA$ from mission payouts.

4) Rockstar responds to complaints with standard "we removed illegitimate money" emails rather than looking into the possibility of a problem with a cheat bot or some other error which needs to be remedied.

5) Ultimately here, the TIMING is the key: Right before a big DLC, we who have worked hard to save millions had it taken away, and I think Rockstar did it on purpose hoping we'd be too impatient to grind out millions more to replace that lost saved money and go and buy lots of Shark Cards for the new sh*t.

6) Further, this happened not only before a big DLC release but possibly more importantly AFTER a massive heavy-handed mass ban and threat program against people making mod programs that give people millions. It seems to me that big threat thing was all planned in advance to force people into buying more Shark Cards, even if it meant destroying offline modding in the process.

7) So we're left with basically zero online mod money and legit money being deleted on the false premise that it was mod money, clearing the way for a big spike in Shark Card sales.

Please do not buy Shark Cards for this DLC.

If I do not get my money back, I will not be buying any more Shark Cards in the future.

How many of you who have had money deleted previously bought Shark Cards besides me? Has anyone that has had money deleted never bought a Shark Card?

I sincerely doubt they'd even give a rats arse if you stopped buying the shark cards. You're just one person, like they're going to care.

That being said, if more than half of the population of GTA Online stopped purchasing shark cards (and that would have to be 98% of activity) then they'd care.

Yeah I just think that the Cheating detection system is very unreliable and isn't checked correctly by a person after it marks people for cheating.

But really who has time to check 8,000,000+ users account

I think it's actually due to an error on their side. Obviously something has gone wrong with the recent event week.

The evidence is too circumstantial for me to think this is just an accident. There are multiple indicators that point at the same thing here. And why aren't their "accidents" ever in our favor?

All who are commenting may in fact be correct.

But like OP said it's the "timing" that lends itself to conspiracy theorists.

I had like almost a billion after i've left a modded session in which modder gave me like 800-900 million, but thank god they didn't remove my legit money

Money from I/E,Gunrunning and a lot of other things doesn't appear on Social Club,so lets say you did 50 millions with I/E,your social club would show how much money you earned, but it wouldn't show from where it came from, and it would end up removed, that is my theory of how this is happening.

Never had my money wiped, and as someone who grinds for it and never buy shark cards (i never brought a single one) i wonder why they didn't do something like that for me.

That's how it should be.

I've maybe had 200k in money bags randomly dropped on me, but they took a little over 2 million and that was legit mission money.

I don't think for a minute they don't watch these fan forums and I think they know they screwed a lot of people over. They do not care.

Never had my money wiped, and as someone who grinds for it and never buy shark cards (i never brought a single one) i wonder why they didn't do something like that for me.

I find it very odd that they can apparently accurately remove mod money and let legit money remain previously but now suddenly they can't tell the two apart.

I never bought any Shark Cards and i got modded money wiped just once, before GR update. The hacker dropped some on me (even tho i didn't ask). I was totally ok with this wipe.

Also every "legit cash-deleting scheme" will work. Because Online is full of "standart consumers" who will keep buying the stuff no matter what quality are they.

R* will keep doing so and people will keep buying Shark Cards.

This hurts my hearth.

While i agree R* strategically wipes modded money right before a new DLC, I'm not fully convinced the legit money is on purpose. Afaik R* doesn't work on the weekends and as a result probably hasn't reviewed whats going on. I'll be very surprised if R* doesn't address the issue sometime next week.

Not everything is a conspiracy, simply just a coincidence.. I haven't had my money corrected but still got that 15% off cash cards loading screen.

I think the money wipe was planned to go into effect before this DLC, just like it has before the launch of earlier DLCs.

However, I sincerely think it was an accident that players who have not cheated, glitched or modded got caught in the net.

This aspect was most likely an unforeseen event and a serious technical error behind the scenes.

Rockstar's customer service and support staff was a total sh*t show even on a good day; with everything running perfect and synchronized.

It should be expected that in the event of an actual crisis, such as what we're seeing now, Rockstar's system would fail to adequately respond to it.

I highly doubt that Rockstar planned to wipe cash from the legitimate/"innocent" players.

I just can't envision a situation where that wouldn't backfire or they'd somehow come out favorably

Like the times that players have been rewarded their shark card money multiple times in a row because of the game glitching out? Or all the incidents of players randomly being awarded sums of money ranging from 250 thousand to a million? Last time I bought a shark card the game accidentally awarded me the money about three times. We just never mention their accidents when they benefit us. This is an accident with poor timing, nothing more, I just hope Rockstar owns up to it and tries to make it up to the players who had legitimate funds taken from them. A lot of players earned the money they lost legitimately or through shark card purchases and deserve some sort of compensation for Rockstar's screw up.

I wonder how many people are buying these jumbo shark cards? I would love to see the amount of money brought in by this. I noticed the mega costs more than game did and only gives you 8 million, some people must be investing a lot into their gta experience
