Rockstar Vienna
Today Sega hosted a reveal event at the Akihabara UDX Theater in Tokyo, and Yakuza series Producer Toshihiro Nagoshi officially announced Yakuza Kiwami 2. Similiar to Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of the old and glorious Yakuza 2 released for PS2 in Japan in 2006 (and in 2008 in the west). It will release in Japan and Asia for PS4 on December 7th, 2017. Visuals will be fully overhauled using the latest version of the Dragon Engine that powers Yakuza 6, and the game will also include updates to the story, audio and activities available. A relevant addition is that fan-favorite character Goro Majima will be playable in his own new scenario. dualshockers.com Edited August 26, 2017 by Rockstar Vienna Audi
chronic lumbago
Yakuza 6's engine is really damn neat. I played the Japanese demo and I'm glad they'll use it here too. Not that there's anything wrong with 0's engine, but the newer one feels more current gen-ish. It's great news. Y2 is suppossed to be the fan favorite title in the series. Luna 51
I really don't think this needed a separate thread from the Kiwami 1, think there should be a thread for the entire series, but whatever, looks great, glad to see they're using the engine from 6 (Like said) and I look forward to playing playing this... in 2019. F*ck Mahjong, I don't think I'll ever 100% any of the Yakuza titles because of that. Edited August 29, 2017 by Luna
chronic lumbago
Guys, if you have Kiwami remember to take the survey! It's a survey about localization of futher Yakuza titles so it's very important! When you highlight the game on your ps4, press down (where the dlcs and so on usually are), the survey will be on the right side. 11 pages, took me maybe 5 minutes? It's a fun survey that asks you for your honest opinion.
Rockstar Vienna
Damn, earlier than expected tbh. August 28th! Btw... maybe we should really merge this thread into the Kiwami thread (and maybe rename it "Yakuza series" as mentioned). Audi

chronic lumbago
They're considering creating Yakuza 0-2, a sequel to Y0 and prequel to Kiwami! https://www.dualshockers.com/yakuza-0-2-considered-shin-yakuza-details/
chronic lumbago
So, anyone played Yakuza 6 yet? I only played the demo and I'm considering getting it soon. I think the new engine does a great job. A makeover like this is always risky but it seems like it's still 100% a Yakuza game. Surprisingly, the standard price over here is just 50 euros instead of the usual 60 for new games. They come with a fancy steelbook that has an artbook inside. I want to add it to my tiny collection as I already own the Kiwami steelbook. I just wish I had one for Yakuza 0. Oh and I've started watching story recaps of Y2-5. Wanna know the whole story before jumping onto 6. I've heard it's a direct sequel to Y5. Edited May 16, 2018 by fashion
chronic lumbago
Preordered the steelbook edition a while back, I can't wait. Just a couple days left. I loved the demo. Goldn-Bayse and ciel
OurJud
I really can't take to the styling of Japanese games. There's just something about the way they render and animate human characters that makes them look like they're made for last-gen consoles. Goldn-Bayse
Played about 4 and a half hours today; I'm on currently on chapter 4. So far my only big complaint is with the movement and combat feeling a little floaty. I'm not sure if it's just me or something. But other than that I'm enjoying the game from eating at restaurants to karaoke to virtua fighter lol.
chronic lumbago
Sometimes I wonder what crack sega is smoking when coming up with minigames. There's literally an urinal minigame where you have to adjust the force of your piss to beat your opponent or blow the right amount of air under a girl's skirt. Also, I have to say that the story shapes up to be amazing and very important to the overall development of the series.
chronic lumbago
My f*cking god sega, I love you so so much for reintroducing the cabaret club and Yuki from Y0. Excellent game so far.
Goldn-Bayse
Finished the game earlier today and It was certainly a fun ride. I got used to the fighting system and I'm glad to see some of the old moves return like Tiger Drop. But damn this game's story was crazy even more so than 0 and Kiwami 1. Spoiler The whole Osaka Castle part was crazy and then they throw 2 tigers at you to fight. I also found the last chapter pretty crazy with all the twists. Overall I liked this game more than Kiwami 1 but Y0 is still my favourite. Here's hoping we get the Yakuza 3-5 PS4 versions in the west soon (I think Japan got Yakuza 3 re-released last month). I'm so excited to play through the rest of the series one day. Edited September 15, 2018 by Goldn-Bayse
