Rockstar Support the worst customer services in the world?

So, we've been testing out Rockstar Support recently to see how good they are.

First we allowed underage users as young as 8, yes, 8, to add us as friends. We have several underage players aged 8 to 14 on our friends list. Over the last 6 months we have been reporting the underage players via the in game report fuction. Select "other" and type in "underage player". This never worked so we took it to the next level and started contacting Rockstar Support directly and submitting tickets. We would even provide picture and video evidence of underage children mentioning their ages while sitting on webcam streaming and screaming over the mic and webcam like little gremlins. At first, you could tell by the replies Rockstar Support gave that they clearly hadn't even read or watched the video or picture evidence and just gave a bog standard reply telling us to use the in game report fuction to report griefers and such. They never once mentioned underage players. So, we pushed further and had a go at Rockstar and accused them of not taking us seriously and not bothering to read our support tickets properly. After several tickets they then started to take note and take us seriously. Support then said, and this is key, "We know and agree that underage players shouldn't be playing GTAV and will look into it." But guess what? Over a month later and all these underage players are still playing GTAV Online on a daily basis. Basically, support said "We know they shouldn't be playing GTAV......but we're not going to do anything about them." They just made it appear that they were going to do something about them. They even attempted to pin the blame on Sony and basically said it was Sony's problem for allowing underage users and to take it up with Sony. They gave so many different answers.

Then the funniest one yesterday. A high rank player tried to kill me but failed and i killed him. He then sent me a text saying he was going to hack my account. I took a screengrab and sent it to Rockstar Support just to see how they would handle that scenario. Rockstar Support replied, and i kid you not....."Phone the police" They literally gave me instructions on how to block another player on PS4 and recommended contacting the police. You think i should contact the police and tell them that someone threatened to hack my GTAV account? lol

Have you got any stories about Rockstar Support? :monocle:

They have always been helpful to me. And also replied back fairly fast too.

It's all gravy for them, dude.

Yup, the reason they won't ban underage kids from playing is because these kids are the ones keeping the game alive. Especially over the school holiday's. The school holidays is when GTA has record numbers of users. And Shark Cards are aimed at that demographic as the younger generation are the generation of gamers that have grown up used to buying microtransactions. They are exploiting kids for financial gain.

Yeah i hate kids in gta online, they're so annoying,i don't think is a good way to let your kid to play "mature games" unfortunately for R* profit is more important so they don't give a sh*t about 8,9 10 years old kids playing their game,in these days is common for developers to target those kids, look at CS GO,the principal target is kids, developers creates skins, spray with content for kids, and of course the kids buys them, with money from their retarded parents, who don't know how to rise a goddam child.

As far as I'm aware, there's absolutely nothing stating that you must be older than a certain age to play the game lmfao. And no the ESRB ratings aren't age restrictions on playing games, they're merely recommendations.

Your attempts at trying to get "underage" players in trouble is honestly just pathetic and sad dude.

That's why the shops don't allow children to purchase adult games. And this is why Rockstar even agreed that underage users shouldn't be playing the game. It is rated "M" for mature. That means people aged 17 and older. Elsewhere in the world it is rated 18+. That means people aged 18 and over.....

If you were a parent would you allow your 8yr old child to play a game that allows you to cause mass murder, take drugs, have sex with prostitutes, features cannablism etc etc? Because if you answer yes to that then you are just showing what a crap parent you would be.

FourFingers is right, this is pretty ridiculous OP. If someone buys the game there's literally no way Rockstar is going to revoke their access just because their age doesn't match the entirely non-legally binding ESRB recommendation on the box. R* support can be pretty bad at times but in this case they're totally in the right to be inactive when it comes to fulfilling your petty desires.

The age rating is in no way legally binding. Shops choose not to sell to minors because they would get backlash from parents, not because it's illegal.

Here's what the ESRB website says.

"A ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011 (Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association/Entertainment Software Association) found that video games are a constitutionally-protected form of expression, and that laws restricting their sale or rental based upon violent content are unconstitutional. That said, ESRB supports retailers' voluntary policies restricting the sale or rental of M (Mature) and AO (Adults Only) computer and video games in the United States and Canada to customers who are at least 17 and 18 years of age"

But yet Rockstar will happily ban people who cheat the system and use glitches......

Its at moral thing.

I would say so.. I contacted them to notify them about 2 hairstyles affected since the GR update dropped that no longer display highlights for some reason.

They originally told me to recalibrate my settings and the problem still persisted..
these were their responses and solutions:

I've already tried that and it still won't work.. it's something on the game's end and not mine. My friend is also affected by the same issue, so it can't be my local user profile settings of the game.

Hello ILL-AUDIO,

Thank you for your precious time in responding.

We understand that you are experiencing issues with the twisted Bob hairstyle not highlighting. We want to inform you that occasionally, such issues can be caused by temporarily cached files associated with your game. Let's uninstall, reinstall, and then re-update your game to clear this as this has resolve similar issues in the past.

To do this, please complete the following steps:

Going to Settings on the XMB.
Select [system Storage Management].
Choose [Applications].
Find the game you wish to uninstall.
Select Delete.
The system will warn you that the application will be deleted. Select OK.
At this point you will be able to re-install GTAV on your PS4. Once this is finished, please ensure that you are connected to the Internet to download all Title Updates. Now your game should be re-installed with the removal of temporary cached files.

If the hairstyle is still not highlighting, we kindly request you to provide us a video capturing the same. We appreciate your cooperation in this regard.

Once we have this information, we will research your issue and get back to you with a suitable resolution.

Note: If the video is too long to upload to this ticket, please add an unlisted video to YouTube and provide us with the direct link to it.

Best regards,

Moses M.

Hello ILL_AUDIO,

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

Below you will find some troubleshooting that should help resolve the issues you are experiencing. These troubleshooting steps come directly from Sony's website.

Step 1: Booting Up in Safe Mode:

The PS4 system has the ability to start up in Safe Mode. This allows access to several functions that can provide you with a way to clean up and potentially fix many issues you may be experiencing.

  1. Turn off the PlayStation 4 by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  2. Once the PlayStation 4 is off, press and hold the power button. Release it after you've heard two beeps: one when you initially press, and another 7 seconds later.
  3. Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the provided USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.

When you have successfully booted the console in safe mode several options will be made available to you.

Step 2: Update System Software:

We recommend that you perform this process before running through any troubleshooting as it is possible that your console's software is not the most recent version and this can create issues running the game.

Step 3: Restore Default Settings:

It is possible that the changing of certain settings could lead to issues with sound and display. If you are experiencing any issues of that type this could resolve your issue.

Step 4: Rebuild Database

This process will essentially replace all current data with any available backup data. This can help fix any issues that were a result of any recent changes to the database.

WARNING: The last two options of the Safe Mode list, Initialize PS4 and Reinstall System Software, will result with a complete wiping of any and/or all information on the PS4 and as such we recommend speaking with Sony before moving forward with these steps. Please keep in mind that we CANNOT restore any deleted data and advise you speak with them about how to back up save files on an external device (to prevent any loss of progress).

If issues persist please feel free to get back in contact with us.

Best regards,

Sven P.

Nope, I'm not doing that.. I already spent a whole day deleting, re-installing and re-downloading all past updates for GTA V. My friends are also experiencing the same issue with the twisted bob and tightbun hairstyle where highlights aren't showing up. It's part of the game's coding, I'm sure it's not on the player's end since I'm not the only one affected by this.

Obviously i didn't uninstall my game and re-download all past updates.. but it's ridiculous they'd even suggest that.

As for the peado thing, let's not even start on how ludicrous that is. You are the one bringing up seedy perverted stuff. That says more about you than me.

is up to the parents to follow those laws, R* cant control who play their game.
