You know why this is happening? According to Strauss Zelnick anyone who doesn't buy (((shark cards))) are filthy lazy freeloaders. He says the game is under-monetized. Like, what the f*ck mate. Are you high? I'm sure the game has generated billions with 3 releases and probably earned millions more thanks to thousands of people, if not, hundreds of thousands of people suffering of false bans on PC to get people to buy the game again.

Thing is though, I've bought a fk tonne of shark cards ever since x360, x1 and PC. So pinching 600k off me hasn't endeared me to buy any. I got a special deal for just me to get bonus 40% cash.

The "Recent" reviews on steam have dropped from positive to mixed! And all the "Helpful" reviews are negative as far as I can (be bothered) to scroll!

If you own GTA V on Steam but have yet to leave a review highlighting the legitimate money wipe, help by adding to the pile of negative reviews! Mark as many reviews that highlight this issue so it rises to the top of Helpful Reviews!

 

EDIT: If you own GTA V on PC but it's non-steam, don't buy it on Steam because you'll be giving them money. You can still upvote reviews of games you don't own on Steam!

Thanks to SkylineGTRFreak, German gaming magazine Gamestar has published a news article on the matter.

They are describing the issue, said they've reached out to Rockstar and basically received the same answer everyone receives. Rockstar don't discuss technical issues with journalists.

It's a bit of a shame that in the current industry, a reasonably sized gaming publication can't put more pressure on a developer. It's been a few days and it seems like most people in this thread are giving up, it doesn't look like there will be any improvement.

 

GTA Online must be one of the worst online experiences in terms of administration and anti-cheat implementation.

Though you might not get a reply, if enough emails tell him (or his secretary) about the possibility of losing profits due to Steams reviews going negative they might take a little notice.

 

As someone said a few pages back, remember to be polite and not aggressive when emailing.

For the record ; You guys are basically contacting a call center ; they are hired by R*. The employees over there are your average 40 years old mom. They just do what they are told. You're lucky if you even get to contact a real human when they have 10 000 tickets per day to answer.

 

The only thing missing from this thread is if you guys have a second character. ( PC here )

 

From my own testing and experience ; Second characters can mess up your stats pretty badly. There's quite a few bugs with their 2 character system ; and i think there are additional bugs if your first character is a transferred character while the second one is a new one from new gen.

 

I stopped to use my second female character after i realized that switching characters was deleting my outfits randomly. A lot of people thought for a long time that it was '' Rockstar deleting outfits with glitches ''. But it's false. After a lot of research i could narrow down the problem to this and since last winter , i stopped to use my second char and also stopped to get that bug. I would have my outfits deleted weekly before that ( was playing on both chars daily )

 

I used to prepare heists finales on both characters to be able to give money to my friends when they play. ( i take 0% ). Heists been my main income this winter and then i also started to grind that 1000 crates trophy. so from this winter up to gunrunning that was most of my game time ; speed running crates and doing heists. Probably played 400-500 hours in the last 6 months.

 

on Gunrunning day i got this :

 

 

Luckily for me ; i was ready. i always felt that some day i would get a false positive or something ; my stats are off by 100 millions. Yet i don't even know why. So a few weeks before Gunrunning , i bought 30 '' Car bonds ''. I took half of my money and bought car bonds in case such a thing would happen.

 

At least my car bonds paid for GR. I had fun with the patch and then stopped to play. I just can't resolve myself to grind in this game again when i know that they could remove it due to bad programming and unwillingness to take the hit themselves.

 

So what about you guys ? Do you have a second character ? could your money stats be messed up like me because of the stat system inability to count both characters correctly ? is it a bug with having both transferred and new gen created characters on the same account ? There are many variable here sadly but if we can narrow them down , it might help.

Back then, they did. But it's been clear to me that the R*/Take Two executives got massive dollar signs in their eyes after seeing the popularity of the game and the amount of shark cards being sold. And they've grown more hungry with every game update, since you can buy less and less in-game items with your shark cards.

 

I bought one once, the 4 million dollar one. Back then this 4 million seemed almost limitless. I bought a high end apartment, a Zentorno, some other cars, some Pegasus vehicles...

Over time everything got more and more expensive. What can you buy with 4 million nowadays? There are single vehicles that already go over this amount.

 

I feel R* was a decent company when GTA5 was just released. But during these past years they've grown into something that's worse than the Three Prime Evils (EA/Activision/UbiSoft) combined.

I can't shake the feeling that the suits are forcing the developers to create these anti-cheat algorithms and pressuring them over and over again to tighten the bolt. And now the bolt's been fastened so tight that it's starting to crack. This detection system is starting to make mistakes.

Yeah, tier 1 doesn't know sh*t, that's obvious. I don't think they have any knowledge about the game they're 'supporting' and it's clear to me that they're providing useless auto-replies by reading through a complaint and just picking the right automatic answer through their helpdesk system.

But even tier 3 is kicking our tickets back with these auto-replies, and that is unforgiveable.

 

I do have a second character, but a friend of mine does not and she is also affected. Meanwhile another friend of mine also has 2 characters and is not affected at all.

So there is no relation here.
